Breaks my heart to hear Madeline had such a hard time with self esteem issues in real life. I just hope she had some idea of how much she helped people laugh, and how much she was loved because of that.
Her roll as Lily in Blazing Saddles is my favorite character in that movies .
I'm 51 now and remember her seeing as a child for the first time, and it was the funniest woman I ever saw... and none have topped it for me ever!
I had the great good fortune to see her twice onstage. One was her Tony winning performance as Dr. Gorgeous Teitlebaum in The Sisters Rosenzweig. The other was in the Judy Holiday role in Born Yesterday. A role she was born to play. She was brilliant in both. Not to mention that hilarious sketch on SNL as Mawena Dietwich opposite Gilda’s Baba Wawa. A truly talented and funny woman. Like Gilda, her death hurt. Wish she were still around to make me laugh. RIP.
She was wonderful! Gone too soon, RIP.

She was a great gal. Fine singer, actor, comedian and when she passed way before her time, really felt the loss.
Hands down one of the funniest and most talented performers of her generation.

My favorite performance was as Estie Del Ruth in " Won Ton Ton, the Dog Who Saved Hollywood", however I thought she was terrific in everything I saw her in - she is missed.
I remember Madeline Kahn doing a spoof of Marlene Dietrich in Mel Brooks' "Blazing Saddles". My mom and I watched her on the "Cosby" sitcom in the 1990s. She is missed.
She should have won and Oscar for What's Up Doc? The scene where she is dragged out of the ballroom screaming was hilarious.

Her father was Bernard Wolfson. Her parents divorced when she was 2 yrs old, and her mother’s 2nd husband, Hiller Kahn, adopted Madeline when she was 10 or 11 years old. Hiller Kahn was the father of her younger brother Jeffrey Kahn. Her biological father, Bernard, also remarried and had another daughter, giving Madeline a half sister named Robin Wolfson. Her brother Jeffrey was probably the person she was most closest to in her life.
