    How to blouse your boots/pants for Army OCS.
    Why not just use the strings that come with the pants? Because with the bands it looks 100% better and more professional. And with the bands nothing ever comes undone; plus there is no need to tuck the pant strings inside your boots. Looking the part is sometimes just as important.

    The ones I like today (as of 8/13/2020) are the T.A.B.S. blousing bands as the material is better and last longer.

    Never knew there was a term for that or the fact you can get straps to do it.

    I have used these, but found it easier to use metal springs. Same concept as the elastic blousing bands... I picked up some cheap 3/8" diameter springs at Home Depot. Found one that wrapped around my shin and bought a pair. They hook easily and stay hooked and give a nice radius effect for the blouse. Leave them hooked in a circle and slide them over your socks. Put on the boots, then use the method shown here or just slip your fingers under the BDU hem and roll the fabric under the spring. This allows you hide those factory string ties and your boot laces.

    A thousand thanks for this Video. I'm wearing M65 Type Fieldtrousers for years now and always wondered how i could tie the laces in a way that I don't get annoyed by them constantly, because i don't wanted to pull them out for obvious reasons (like Ticks ect.)

    • @NixyRumancek
      @NixyRumancek Pƙed měsĂcem

      Same! I just got a few pairs of M65 trousers and was struggling to not look like I’m a 2000’s mall goth because what are these straps for suddenly around the knees? Looked it up and got led to this video which helped me figure out the damn ankle straps.
      Some of my pants wind up having a lightly ribbed ribbon (feels like silk or a similar soft material) strap at the ankles which doesn’t stay tied no matter what I do. A lot of my work is in the outdoors (storm chasing and I’m also part of my local falcon watch, on rescue team, where I’m a BOG for fledging peregrine falcons). I don’t want to risk having ticks, fire ants or something crawling into my pants. Also can’t risk baggy pants restricting my movement when I’m needing to climb somewhere in order to secure, rescue, and possibly provide lifesaving care to a grounded peregrine.
      TLDR: this video helped thank you!

    Hey, what do you do with the two ties attached to your pants, can you use those for blousing? What are those for?

    • @Pedro.Juarez
      @Pedro.Juarez  Pƙed 4 lety +4

      Yea but they suck. The bands in the video replace the two ties. In OCS we used bands which makes it look better. Didn’t have bands in basic and kept having to tuck my pant leg into my boot and constantly retie those two ties.

    I've heard that soldiers are not issued blousing straps when you first enter BCT, are you allowed to bring your own with you when you arrive at BCT, or would those be considered among the items you have to surrender during intake?

    • @Pedro.Juarez
      @Pedro.Juarez  Pƙed 3 lety +1

      No you don’t get blousing straps when you first get there. If you go to BCT during the summer then I wouldn’t recommend it - it will be too hot and when you’re in the field they will have you un-blouse. I’d wear them during AIT or after.

    • @gagerutledge4620
      @gagerutledge4620 Pƙed 4 lety +2

      I see a lot of people not using them too. I use mine. I tie them loosely around my feet. They're flat and thin enough to where you don't feel them when you are wearing your boots. My job is also very active, so with them tied to my feet, they don't come untucked from my boot.

      @Pedro.Juarez  Pƙed 4 lety +7

      Because it doesn't look as good; especially as an officer you want, at the very least, to look the part. Using blousing bands makes it look a lot cleaner.

    T.A.B.S. blousing bands - do you use 1" bands or 2" bands?

    • @Pedro.Juarez
      @Pedro.Juarez  Pƙed 3 lety +1

      So I use both. For my Oakley boots I use the 1 inch bands because the boots are higher. But when I wear my Danner’s (which I use more often) I use the 2 inch bands because the boot is shorter and it makes my pants look skinnier. I don’t like baggy OCP pants. So METT-TC. But I favor the 2 inch bands overall.
