  • In the tranquil forests and mountain tops of Eastern Bhutan's rural temples lies a profound lesson: true beauty and wisdom often reside in the most unassuming places. I made my way to Rangshikhar Goenpa to see the statues depicting the life of the Buddha but I truly experienced its spiritual connection when I met Ani Nima.
Rangshikhar Gompa is the home of a great meditation master, Rangshikhar Rinpochhe. “You won’t find him here,” a local said to me. “He’ll be in the mountains far away.” But my visit there wasn’t a lost cause. Ani Nima is the daughter in law of the great master and is also the carer of the Gompa which also serves as a small orphanage and an old age home. Ani Nima was studying Micro Biology in America but it was when she returned home that she realized that her heart was more in serving the Dharma.
