    Call that beauty the "knuckle up" to keep in line with the other two flies you have created.

    Super cool, I submit the knuckle waver. The one I tied also looked a little thin right behind the head, I'm gonna try and change material there. But WOW, this has been an incredible experience to tie and design with you! Thanks for including us!!!!

    Love this series, looking forward to part 5 and seeing your changes. As far as a name, a few come to mind immediately, “Arctic Dove” or “Snowbird” because it definitely has that bird appearance with the feather tail.

    Anything other than the Dead Meat Custom eyes and I would have been disappointed. They're just so sick!
    It would have been interesting (to me at least) to see you test how it swims and hear your thinking while seeing it in the test tank for the first time.
    I'm looking forward to the next installment!

    Absolutely loving this series. Pretty pretty pretty good- LD. Seriously- that for a first tie on a concept fly is right on. As far as the wing goes- if you don't end up going with ripple ice (which I think is too flashy), maybe use that MFC Scales & Tails, with the craft fur over it. The Scales and tails has that rigidity you are looking for, plus some flash- and the craft fur won't collapse as much when wet when placed on top of it. Just a thought after seeing you tie that stuff in.
    Can't wait for part 5. I imagine you will have fixed the minor issues and have several prototypes built and tested by then. Right on

    It has been great to watch this project develop from an idea to a fishable fly. The movement of the articulated tail is a unique feature for this style of fly.... something to keep. It was a pleasure to watch the live presentation in Fort Wayne. Thanks for making the trip.

    Tied right along with you. Couple of weeks ago I tried the tails and scales and couldn't keep it soft enough. Love to see some color ways. Great work sharing your ideas. Race ya to catch the first fish. Gotta be the knuckle bumper. Saw that in another comment.

    Love the series idea, couldn’t wait for the tie! Looks awesome on the vise, if I were doing it I’d head to the river and fish it. I wouldn’t have the smart’s to tweak as needed, that’s where your knowledge shines.

      Yeah Brian it was great to meet you as well this past weekend in Fort Wayne. Watching your yt videos over the years make’s me feel like I know you, it’s cool to see that you’re just a normal person like everyone else.
      A note to all your followers, stop to see Brian if he’s at a nearby fly show, he’s very pleasant and helpful. Heck, his response to this comment on meeting me last weekend shows his sincerity.

    I'm not sure I'm digging the articulation but I'd like to see it in the water while being stripped. As far as a name goes maybe the "Silver Ghost". Oops, I looked it up, it's taken. Maybe the "Apparition". It doesn't look like that one is taken yet. Keep the good stuff coming buddy.

    Awesome design. But the articulation, try putting hook point through the eye of the articulation shank and tie 2 small balls of thread stops to keep it in place . You will add a little length and get better movement without impeding the hook gap.

  • @FlyCreationsStudio
    @FlyCreationsStudio Před 6 měsíci +1

    Really enjoying seeing this fly come together. Could you tie the buck tail in as a hollow tie to give your shank more room for movement?

    • @flyfishingtheozarks
      @flyfishingtheozarks  Před 6 měsíci

      I have been tweaking that part of the fly for a little while now.....hollow-tie and adding a bead to the articulation point made a great funnel. Video soon.

  • @Fishing.friday
    @Fishing.friday Před 6 měsíci

    Cut twice the amount of craft fur and rip stack wing n flash in there to get that glint from the tails and scales. You’ll lose a good rip stacking, but that I’ll give you that bulk in the shoulders without sacrificing hook up issues. Just my two cents. Killer fly!

    It was a great series on the development of this fly. As with all first articles/prototypes, there are always tweaks and improvements to get to the final product. I thoroughly enjoyed watching, and learning from, the process. If you aren't happy with any of the prototypes, please send them to me; I would be very happy to fish them and report the results. My name for it is The Knuckle Down. Thanks for a fun series.
