M29 BEST COMPANIONS: Retesting Xuna, Witch, Dark Dealer, Diana & More! (multi target) - Neverwinter

- With module 29 we got some companion updates, particularly a buff to Xuna and a pretty heavy nerf to the Shadar-kai Witch! I have retested a whole bunch of them and included the new companion Diana the Acrobat and the Dark Dealer! Keep in mind these are controlled tests so their performance can drop when not in their ideal situations! This gives a solid baseline as to what potential we can expect from them when fighting multiple targets!

Aragon takes the time to test all companions, which should be a job for Cryptic's devs, and after each test they will see what companion needs a nerf or buff lol as always, thanks for the video.
they know if its nerf or buff .. but with such small dev/tester team they wont put much effort into it
becaus elets be real .. they dont care if nerf on companion prove to be 1% or 3% its insignificant
It's a win-win situation, they get free testing info and Aragon gets free ad from market manipulation

lets be realistic ...
in case of DPS companions ... no one realistically needs sustained dps on 5 targets
mos timportant factors are
1) buff/debuff ( support role outshine any DPS companion does)
2) flexibility between single target/aoe (most encounters require both)
3) burst damage ( companions like xuna are great in practice because they pump out very high DMG with long CD, but most enemies die very fast and cooldown ticks out between encounters)
Nice compilation tyvm Aragon! I prefer Regis because it gives 5% recharge bonus if you wanna go for a recharge build up which is the rage these days.
recharge is uncapped but extremely weak stat simply because its place in formula and several sources causing diminishing return
in the end its way under 1% dmg bonus ... trash compared to most buff /debuff companions

I've said it multiple times.
The Rimefire Golem is the best AE Companion as he cost nothing, very cheap and common.
If you group up loads of mobs, he can one hit the entire pack.
Companions like Regis are way too expensive for the little difference.
imo air archon is one of the best AOE comps strong and cheap.

Great video!! I notice you didn't test Bobby the Barbarian as he looks like he is designed for muti enemies, as well as the new Eric. I agree with you that it's too bad about the witch. Would it kill the developers to adjust the companions so they were equally useful? I love the style of some of them, but can't use them as they are too weak. It also creates this environment where everyone is trying to get the same 5 or 6 companions.

Test it on the first group if Fbi reaper group vs dig and small target vs rage and melee target vs high gear cap
Im still going to use.my fre mystic pheora. Im cheap and unless one of these others drops for free for me, Im not getting it as i know they will all be nerfed at some point in time.
While I commend you for your patience and testing, I think the way of testing is somewhat flawed. The question should not be "how much overall dmg and how fast will this companion kill these 5 enemies" The question should be "Which companion does the most burst damage up front in X amount of time." because more often then not, each encounter during the AoE portions of a dungeon will be relatively short enough where only the initial burst dmg of the companion will matter. Most of the time everything will be dead before the companion can finish.
So maybe test the overall Enc DPS done in a relatively short window, as to simulate the players effectively killing everything before the companion can have a chance to get through an entire rotation.
What about cold iron warrior?

something to point out: the ball did no dmg in your showcase, due to the mobs being in the self cc immune to dmg state. the problem is that the orb started to be cast before they entered dmg immunity. at least from what you showed. In your minotaur test, when the mobs entered dmg immunity, the minotaur just stopped attacking at all, if he started casting his aoe right before they entered dmg immunity, he would waste his entier aoe cd on immune targets, same as what the shattar-kai witch did with her orb.
ps. also, the orb just has a WAY to long of a cast time
the mobs do not enter any damage immunity state.
@@Aragon- then I have no idea how you make them untargetable in the showcase. In the video, whenever the mobs end up frozen solid looking up, all the companions you are testing seem to stop targeting the mobs, and deal no dmg
i don't think dark dealer need to get buff like xuna, because dark dealer gives better player power than xuna, if devs buff it like xuna, no one will use xuna
Regis is bis for damage mob?
regis is BIS for sustained unrealistic with all enemies grouped on tiny spot
for real fights ... with combined ST+aoe
Xuna as dps overall
batiri as BIS dps for boss progress
Wulfgar/elaina sartell/drizzt if you want both solid dps overall and helpfull buff to entire party
if you count also "utility"
then Diana the Acrobat with +10% movement works quite well despite lack of offensive buff or good dps
also ... IF you are average player far ffrom BIS running random trials with random people:
Bruenor battlehammer
Dread Warrior
Siege Master
maximize your chances /clearing speed
Minotaur for the win since I got him not took him off most useful comp in game specifically good with SW in my opinion
