  • In this video I go over unnecessary tools that young barbers should avoid or not look to get. There are many distractions in the industry. This video sets out to take out the fluff that many companies have added to the minds of the young barbers that are looking to make a mark.

    Balding clipper has actually been my fav tool. Although, I don’t really use it conventionally as I use it for the whole fade as opposed to just the balding. IMO it gets the job done efficiently but that’s just me, took me a min to figure out my own system using em. Much love

    I have the balding clipper, I like it, my reason is
    1. faster to bald the client out, cuz blade is wider than the detailers
    1. your blade on the /t-outliner/detailer gets weak af if u continue to use them balding clients out, they will stop hit as good when its new (i only use them for line up and touch up bottom line

    • @KevvThaw
      @KevvThaw  Před 5 lety +4

      I hear you. Like I told someone else in the comments, I find it much more cost effective to have another heavy duty adjustable clipper (ideally a fade master), or just get a #00000 blade for balding. To have a whole instrument just to bald out, and nothing else. The teeth on the comb blade are so shallow that freehand isn’t easily done with it. Seems. Only can be used elsewhere.

      The balding machine doesn't get hot and is way smoother and faster than all the rest ...(even than the detachable 00000)
      I've tested them all with review and even on tried the blade on different clippers...
      I use my balding blade on the wahl cordless magic clip...

    • @freshskyy
      @freshskyy Před 4 lety

      The outliner blade is the same as the balding blade but the difference is in the tech of the blade ...it's just don't get hot ,or it may have something to do with the voltage my country runs on

    • @forty-7484
      @forty-7484 Před 4 lety

      Well true it does get weak but u can still bald out with a clipper that has a lever and then once u bald out with that one then u can make it even balder with the detailer
      Cuz the retailers are sharper and u can get balder lines
      I mean it doesn’t really matter cuz ur still gonna need the shaver to make the hair completely bald

    I like the video, all I can say though is I have the Wahl Balding Clipper and I find it helps me save time personally and it doesn’t make my magic clips blade heat up. If I use my magic clips to both fade and take out bulk, it causes my blades to heat up, I have mine zero gapped and I still need to go over the baldness with my trimmers and shavers, with my balding clippers I can just use them to bald out and my shavers after for a closer shave

    If this video is catered to non-students, you are spot on. However, if it is catered to barber students, I disagree with the detachables comments. They are a definite must for the beginning student, and we make sure they are in the beginner kit when they come to barber school. They are professional-grade clippers and skill and knowledge of them should be acquired along with the adjustable. Adjustables are meant for detailing and clean-up work. It will take far more than class time to master them so it is a must that they be tackled at the start when instruction can be offered. And the cut is much cleaner in less the time.

    Good points but I disagree with you with the Wahl balding Clipper. 90% of my cuts are bald fades and this definitely serves its purpose. Others options for balding out; Option 1 Trimmer- trimmers are meant to do lineups etc. not bald out/bulk removal and will reduce performance overtime or dull blades. They also take longer to do a whole bald out area due to the blade being smaller and motor not being as powerful as a clipper. Option 2. Clippers zero gap- good option but they will not get as low as the balding clipper which is equivalent to the trimmer option

    • @KevvThaw
      @KevvThaw  Před 4 lety

      Lightbright Cutz best option is a detachable blade clipper with a #00000, where it serves more purposes than saving trimmers. Another option you didn’t mention was using a straight razor. The balding clippers value just isn’t high imo. It doesn’t do enough.

    • @TheSoldierBarberLife
      @TheSoldierBarberLife Před 4 lety +1

      The Barber's Table for me it’s a cost effective option. Balding Clipper cost $50 vs detachable clippers that start in the $200+ and then you have to spend more money on the additional blades. If your investment is going towards the detachable Clipper option then sure but most barbers starting out don’t do that. They will get an adjustable Clipper and a trimmer. For those people this serves as a great addition imo

I feel like it's one of the best clippers for balding and taking down bulk down to 000. I understand your quip with it though. You can easily just transfer the Balding Clippers blade to an adjustable clipper, like the Magic Clip. I've seen people use the Balding blade on the cordless Magic Clip etc. so I do understand where you're coming from

      Detachable blade clippers are actually the best clippers for fading ECT. They have no stupid guard hence they cut even and smooth quicker. (it's a metal guard but it's not like other plastic ones) it's even and unlike using plastic guards that push hair down ECT it can go over a spot one time. They cost more for this reason. If you have alot of customers in the future you will be thankful you learned how to use them.
