    Won my local match Base Class with this basic Ruger Precision Rimfire. =) Shoots 1 big hole 5 shot groups with Norma Match-22.... cheap, accurate and reliable, and of course, BX-15 magazines... Don't need to swap mags on almost ANY PRS Rimfire or NRL-22 stage.

      That was my first base class rifle as well. I had great success with it. I just hate the stock trigger and the new rules dictate that you must use the stock trigger.

      @@CopperStarPrecision definitely not amazing but you can certainly loosen it to around 2 lbs and it feels a lot better. Still far worse triggers out there.

    man that B14R and the Bushnell setup would be such an insane Base Combo!

      @@CopperStarPrecision The B14R - Bushnell combo sounds tempting to me. One of the big deciders for me is that the B14R is available Left Handed. Sadly, stock wise the CZ Varmint is the best left CZ has to offer, No pro varmint or MTR.

    Great video. Just to clarify, the Savage B22 Precision (70248) has an MSRP of $679. The one you listed is their Lite version (70256) which has an MSRP of $989. So, the B22 Precision (70248) would allow for a lot of room for glass.

  • @allenbmooresharinginformation

    Some great insight, much appreciated. I'm surprised you have not seen the Arkens in large numbers at your shoots there since here they are possibly the most common scope on a rifle. I' have several of these scopes which I paid for fully and I have zero complaints on the use. The one thing negative about Arken is the lack of timely customer service response to concerns.

      Lots of good options depending on how much budget you have after the cost of the rifle. What rifle do you plan on using?

  • @SlavGuns
    @SlavGuns Před měsícem +1

    Btw, you totally skipped over the Ruger American Rimfire and specifically the Ruger American Rimfire Long Range Target model.... Shot it in a few PRS Rimfire matches and it is SUPERB!

    Was running a T1x with a match pro ED last season in PRS production, super stoked it's now back legal for NRL22 base class as well. Mountain tactical makes an arca rail that mounts directly to the factory pick up points make it super easy to add a full length rail.
    If I ever make it down to your area for an x match this season (or you find yourself up in the Portland area) you are more than welcome to check it out. The match pro ED is ever bit as much of a scope as my Viper PST gen 2 that I have on my Centerfire.

      @@the_madhatter8492 I haven't spent a ton of time behind the original match pro, but did compare them side by side before deciding to go with the ED. Overall, the additional features and quality more than offset incremental cost, while still being able to stay within the MSRP limit for PRS rimfire production last year. Even though it meant i shot NRL22 open (due to being over the base MSRP limit by $150.)

  • @odinn4195
    @odinn4195 Před měsícem +1

    So just to clarify because I’m getting mixed messages online. I CAN get a Boyd stock on a base class rifle with a bull barrel? because the way I read that rule was it has to be OEM if I have a Ruger 10/22 everything on it MUST be Ruger brand or factory issue with no customization.

    • @CopperStarPrecision
      @CopperStarPrecision  Před měsícem

      If that is a combination that is available from Ruger directly then you are fine, but if Ruger doesn't offer a Boyd stock + bull barrel then it does not qualify as base class. For example the 60th anniversary version has a Magpul stock so it doesn't have to be all Ruger parts, it just needs to be offered by them.

  • @johnpayne5513

    Can you take a bx ruger trigger and drop it in a rifle that don't come with bx trigger? It's a factory trigger but not THE factory trigger, good question I thought

    I have just started shooting. 22lr i have a webley and Scott scope package. So far ive been out 7 times plinking, and can hit 1 inch target at 80yards. Im from Australia i find it very accurate with the cci standards any advice on getting started?

    • @CopperStarPrecision
      @CopperStarPrecision  Před 4 měsíci

      Find local matches in your area. I know Australia has a growing NRL22 scene. You'll probably want a bipod and a good wedge shaped bag for positioning on barricades. You will also need to know your ballistic data for various distances.
      I have many videos on my channel with match footage, gear used, as well as what to expect at a match.

  • @lanejohnson7656

    I find it hilarious people tell you the Ruger is junk . You seemed to do pretty well with it. Who knows, if there was a model from the factory that has a trigger more to your liking you might just continue to use it, if you didn’t use the tuner as well.. How many CZ’s and such did you beat with the Ruger? lol. Someone with a Ruger must have really hurt those people’s feelings for them to cry like that.. lol

      The Lilja looks very promising, but I did win a certificate for a Shilen barrel at Nationals and they make a prefit for the Ruger rimfire so I think I might give that a try. My CZ457 has a Shilen barrel and it hammers so hoping for similar performance.

    • @CopperStarPrecision
      @CopperStarPrecision  Před 3 měsíci

      I agree about the triggers. Tuners I could go either way. I think the price cap increase was a good idea simply because the MSRP values have skyrocketed (especially for optics) even though the street/sale prices are much, much lower.

    • @johnpayne5513
      @johnpayne5513 Před 3 měsíci

      @@CopperStarPrecision I gotcha, I mean I shoot the ruger precision and the vortex dimond back and no msrp has changed yet so I'm still sitting either 200 extra dollars of squish I could put into an optic but I don't really want to cause I'm on a college budget now, but that combo used to be right on the line and now it's got all that room, that's only why I say the money cap is a little high, and something as good as the b14r and a decent scope like the Bushnell could in my mind way over compete and be almost a "cheat code" to base class but we'll just have to see. I'm only really salty about tuners cause I was about to put one on my gun

    Is shortening a wood stock for LOP considered a stock “modification?”

    • @nrl22.official
      @nrl22.official Před 3 měsíci

      Yes. Base division does not allow you to permanently modify the stock in that manner.

    • @Acerasports
      @Acerasports Před 3 měsíci

      @@nrl22.official I’m wondering if that decision was made in the past because it seemed as an advantage to do so, but it’s a inequity for those of us that are “vertically challenged” or need the LOP shortened, which I’m thinking is anyone under 5’8”. Hope there is consideration to allow it in the future. 🤞🏼.
