@@SuttonsDaze I had a question and am hoping you could help me out. I have a 40% alcohol vodka. If I make this with apple juice and apple cider and the ABV would be 25% in the final product, would I need to infuse it in the refrigerator? Or would the Alcohol preserve it during the infusion.

There is also a spirit we use in Glögg (mulled wine pretty much) for Christmas and it’s SO light and smooth (in my opinion) if you ever wanted to try. It’s called Aquavit! (It’s Scandinavian)

We made the other recipe that you shared and it was wonderful. Shared the recipe with friends and they made & gave decorate jars with shine as holiday gifts. I like this recipe better as no waiting for hot content to reach room temp before adding in the alcohol.

Wow! This would be a great alternative to potassium iodide! 😂😂😂. My ex in-laws used to make apple moonshine. I don’t remember how they made it, but it tasted like kerosene. Phil’s recipe looks much better.

LOL I used to make apple whiskey by freezer distillation when I was a teen. As an adult I am more apt to cook or bake with it then drink it now.

I found Phil's brand of choice for the liquor at a local liquor store yesterday - $16.99/bottle. I'd looked online to see where that brand was sold near me, and the local store showed they carried it. My other half and I looked all over for it, but not being able to pronounce the name was an issue. 😂 Eventually, I hunted down Phil's videos where he showed the bottle (best view is on the mango moonshine video around the 3:19 time point), and I was able to show it to a couple of employees who helped track some down. The funny thing was that there was none on the shelf, and after the 2 people couldn't find it initially, they asked a 3rd guy who was unboxing some new stock, and wouldn't you know it was exactly the one I was looking for: Spirytus Rektyfikowany! LOL He handed me a bottle, and I asked if I could have two. I think someone else asked them to order that brand. I'm wondering if it was someone else watching "Phil's Moonshine Magic!" At any rate, I have some now and I'm going to start with the Apple Pie Moonshine. Thanks for the recipes! Did Phil ever work as a bartender. My other half did at one time. He never made moonshine though. 😄

I made this one year with everclear. It was a hit.
Those empty vodka bottles also make for excellent long term food storage. Great for storing rice. With that long narrow neck you end up with less oxygen which will help keep that rice a lot longer than the best use by date. I take my used bottles and after I washing and removing the labels I put them in the oven at 200 degrees for 20 mins to sterilize and to make sure they're fully dried. It's much, much better than letting that rice sit in the original bag it came in.
