I think this video is the ultimate proof that the Steamed Hams meme has gotten so out-of-control and been seen so many times that we no longer need the audio or characters to know exactly what line is being said and when they are being said.
Combat Creepers One meme I would say was similar in creativity to this would be the Stu pickles makes chocolate pudding at 4 am meme. That was clear back in 2010 before memes really began to take off, and it was already gaining a lot of ground like steamed hams is now. I wouldn’t say it was anywhere near as big though, only similar.
Eerie! I love how it causes you to watch little details never really noticed before...like Skinner's couch and side table with lamp in the background, and the rather generic pictures he has hanging on the wall, and the shape of the champagne glasses!
I prefer the creeping existential dread of how this meme carries on without Skinner or Chalmers and how that is a chilling reminder of our own abject lack of permanence pervades our entire lives, to the point that we are disposable to the world, it will just continue without us
Honestly, I think this just makes you appreciate all of the elements that go into a scene. From music, sound effects, ambiance, pacing, camera angles, etc. Goes to show that, even without the character and dialogue, quite a bit goes into it that you don't immediately pick up on or notice
This is the same energy as listening to the instrumental version of a song you know really well without looking at the lyrics or timing and being able to know exactly where you are
They should make episodes just like this, no characters, objects move by themselves, vehicles drive by themselves, but there are footstep sounds but no characters like mentioned before

i had a dream that Skinner and Chalmers went on some sort of adventure in an entire Simpsons episode, where they got the help of Homer, specifically, to find a way to escape the hell they were in (the steamed hams loop thing). everyone in Springfield was unaware of the loop, but Homer still helped due to [reason]. i don’t remember how the entire thing played out, only that the only way to escape was to somehow create an alternate timeline of the Simpsons show itself. the point of this, methinks, was to abandon the loop, not destroy it, and then put themselves in the present of the new timeline. i don’t remember much else about the dream, but i do remember that the end of the dream was set in the looped timeline. because it wasn’t destroyed, it was still going, as if nobody had left. the entire scene was exactly this video, except without the footsteps and sounds that would come from a human being. when the fire truck came by, the camera panned with it for a second, then stopped on the street Homer would usually be on, now empty. then the credits rolled. i don’t know why i remember this dream in such detail, especially since it just seems like a couple screenshots of it now in my head, but there you go.
