- Skinner's excuses aren't flying this time. I don't normally post memes on this channel but this was a fun editing excercise, though I could have done a lot better if I had the dedication. Also Skinner tries a bit harder to keep his story straight.

It still bothers me that Skinner didn't put out the fire in his oven. He could have easily said, "I am so sorry Superintendent Chalmers, but I seem to have burnt the ham I prepared for us, please forgive this mistake."

I always questioned why he couldn't have said that he browned them before steaming.

I like how this version makes it seem like Chalmers is playing dumb when he asks Skinner questions, like if they're having steamed clams, because he's able to tell from Skinner's disappearance and the smell of the smoke coming from Skinner's oven that Skinner's bullshitting him.
More importantly you don't cook steamed clams in the oven. You cook them on the stove

One of the writers said that Chalmers is the only normal person in Springfield, aside from Frank Grimes. Difference between them is Grimes questioned too much of the illogical nature of Springfield and died whereas Chalmers knows not to ask questions and just really goes with the flow. He’s learned to not care because it’s more trouble then it’s worth.
With how many times Chalmers has had this luncheon he was bound to catch on eventually.
