    7:57 I found something similar with my Ibanez SA, it has no-name lockin tuners but they are really good. I also have an ibanez RG and it has dead points and that thing, adjusting to today inflation, was way more expensive.

    You nearly got it right, Henning!
    The RGA is no more pointier than the RG, but has a carved top, which may be made from different wood, but not neccessarily. Mainly it is for the comfort of playing for those who feel like that.
    "HP" mainly means a roasted neck, A-brand pickups and perhaps the luminescent side dots.
    Why this "HP" series has to be 400 or 500 bucks more expensive than the normal, "non HP" RG?
    Highly educated scientists are working on that issue for quite a while ... maybe businessmen can explain?
    PS: Tuners never were a problem on Ibanez guitars.

    Henning, you're right, it's an arguable choice by Ibanez to mount a 3-way PU selector AND a split-coil microswitch,
    instead of a 5-way switch which would do the same job (roughly) ...
    Anyway, this baby seems to be a lot of guitar for les than 800 €uros !!

    I love the Wizard III necks. One thing about the scarf joint "save a little bit of money" comment: They don't do scarf joints to save money, they do it because it is the better construction for angled headstocks when dealing with a 1-piece-maple neck. This is why Gibsons are infamous for their broken headstocks. It has something to do with the wood grain. Ibanez glues the headstock on so the angle can go with the grain instead of creating a giant predetermined breaking point. The Jackson USA custom shop does the scarf joints as well on their 1-piece maple necks and those are expensive guitars, obviously.
    Ibanez has basically 3 models of building a neck: the 1-piece scarf joint thing on the wizard III necks with angled headstocks, the 1-piece neck without angled headstocks and therefore no scarf joint and the 3-5 piece necks that don't need the glued on headstock because the rigidity comes from the multiple pieces of wood.

  • @Eventual420
    @Eventual420 Před 3 lety +2

    Hard tails sound better than trems, with Strat sounds the only exception. So you have a guitar worth listening to, should chime for days, that’s why my skin was crawling before you tuned it. Sure I love DiMarzio pickups, they have some standouts, and I would probably load up DP103, 36th Ann’s. I hate blade switches, and prefer two volume knobs, otherwise I actually like plastic nuts because they don’t grab strings, and with that offset 6th ferrule you could intonate a set of heavy bottoms, usually run out of room. 800 clams, some decent pickups, and you have yourself a worthy companion to that Sky King. Look at them, meant to be together. Oh, and does it get any better than Schaller? I always thought they were the best, but those Hipshot drop tuners are always great, and this guitar would jam if it had a drop tune 6th tuner because you don’t have to worry about it going out of tune very much (1 or 2 cents) if you flipped the lever and had drop D (or C for you low riders). That guitar has something to say, I would love to listen to it, damn COVID, I’m sorry Ibanez, we are all hanging on for dear life at the moment. ☮️

    2. No Locking tuners
    3. No gig bag.
    4. Not a real proper mahogany
    Those are the reasons I'm not buying this.
    It's high time now, companies must realize those above are the mandatory features for guitar to last longer.
