A little info about my kpop journey:
In May 2022 I randomly happened upon a fancam of Bang Chan from Stray Kids and immediately got sucked into the kpop rabbithole.
Before this I had only heard a few kpop songs (read: BigBang - Bang Bang Bang and Fantastic Baby, Super Junior - Sorry Sorry, Shinee - Ring Ding Dong and Lucifer, F(x) - Red Light and Electric Shock and last but not least PSY - Gangnam Style) but had never looked deeper into it.
Now I'm here and I primarily follow Ateez, Stray Kids and religiously but I'm also very interested in a lot of other groups (Hongjoong, I'm sorry)

There is no question. IU is best soloist in South Korea today. And to me this was one of her best releases. To answer your question, yes, IU has acted in dramas and movies as well. She's very good as an actress.
IU was even in a movie that was in competition at Cannes so she can ACT, so with V being able to match her and have them both deliver this performance is impressive.

IU wrote the lyrics and Produced the video. So IU was the creative person behind this MV. It her story and her vision. In fact there is a behind the scenes video where she said she decided not to shot some of the scenes planned for a 3rd day of filming because she thought they had enough and she had gotten the flu on the 1st day.
IU has been in 7 kdramas, the 1st when 17 called Dream High. She has been in of the most popular kdramas including Scarlett Heart (2016), Hotel Del Luna (2019 Netflix), My Mister (2018 Netflix). She has completed filming on her day which was done for Netflix and will be released later this year.
Do to her acting performance in My Mister she was recruited by a famous Japanese Director for a movie he was getting ready to shoot. When he heard her sing he added a song to the script. The movie Broker debuted at Cannes Film Festival in Fed 2022, where it received a 12 minute standing ovation. IU was nominated for Best Actress. She did not win it at Cannes but she did win at a number of other Film Festivals.
She debuted as a singer at 15 in 2008. Became a national star in 2010 when 2 of her songs reached #1 on the charts in Korea. Since then she has had over 32 #1 hits in Korea, twice as many as any other artist or group.
With this release she has tied BTS for most songs hit #1 on their debut. And she is the only female to have a song debut at #1 in Korea.
Last January Rolling Stone Magazine added IU to their list of the 200 Greatest Singers of ALL TIME. Becoming the 1st Korean singer to make the list.
IU singing a variety of genres, from rock, to jazz to R&B etc. And she does use MV's to add depth and meaning to stories she is telling. Sometimes uses multiple songs over a period of years to tell the story. The most famous example is her 2011 song You & I, where do to circumstances she and the love of her life aren't together. She uses a time machine to go to the future in Hope's of being able to be with him. She sets the date to Dec 31st 2019. In the fall of 2019 she released Above the Time, Blueming and finished the story in Sept of 2021 with Strawberry Moon.
You really need to hear IU sing Love Poem. While many of the covers are very good even outstanding, none matches her performance. I have placed a link to Love Poem and a couple other live concert performances. It is live concert performances where she really shines.

Interesting mv. It’s fascinating how we become so invested so quickly. IU has been acting and singing since her debut, 16 years ago. She’s now 30
The cube is meant to represent society and how badly it treat anyone who is "different". In the MV IU is deaf while Tae is blind in one eye but since they love each other they don't see those flaws. When we see them through the camera's lens it shows how they see each other - beautiful, perfect and the world is full of life and color because they have that love. Even in the darkest moments having that one person by your side can make it bearable. The ending killed me when IU covers his one good eye and her angelic voice along with the storytelling makes this a real masterpiece and I want to see them in a kdrama together.
No. Not every mv have to be complicatedm why dont just leave it as a tragic love story
Is there something wrong with making a deeper interpretation than just what is shown on the surface level?
Art is, and will always be up for interpretation and there's nothing harmful in the interpretation they made, so I don't see why you would have a problem with it.
If you want to see it as simply a sad love story, then go for it. But there is no reason for you to come after others who choose to find a deeper meaning.
I know you said you're not into IU. BUT there is a reason she is the most awarded and highest selling Solo artist ever in Korea

She was in Cannes for the movie Broker, which is pretty good. She really is an exceptional actress. I was blown away by her performance in My Mister.

IU is a very unique singer and is known as a national treasure in South Korea.
She encountered financial difficulties in her family when she was a child, so she determined to become an "adult" who could support her own life earlier. Because she likes singing, she decided to be a singer. She hoped to connect the hearts between "I and YOU" through music with emotions, so she took the stage name "IU".
Originally, she wanted to be a traditional ballad singer when she debuted, but because too young, she did not gain much attention from the public in that time(when she is only 15).
Later, the entertainment company tried to package her as an idol singer and achieved great success (in the year she was 18). She's an actress as well has been in dramas and films. Has a new drama coming out on Netflix this year. I only found out she was a famous singer after watching her drama Hotel Del Luna. She's an amazing artist.

The cubes are trolls/ media. In the MV, she is deaf/mute, he is partially blind - it may seem there is no fathomable way these two can understand each other. This video is dedicated to artists, great Korean idols. The cube represents the Korean music and film industry, where every artist is under threat of social pressure, where one wrong move can ruin their careers, where they can be intimidated by the media and end their lives, living under stress and constant fear. Through the lens of a video camera, artists, idols of many, are beautiful and happy, but in real life they are very vulnerable. The Industry sucks all the juice out of them and then throws them away as if they were old and unnecessary clothes. In South Korea, the big music lobbies have a way of treating artists that is scary. If they see that they are good and successful, they take everything and more out of each of them, becoming ruthless. But when they have been exploited to the point of exhaustion, they leave them aside like broken toys. More than one artist has ended up committing suicide. Everything is very sad. At its end the trolls/ media come to consume another artist and fandom and discard it like a pile of clothes and IU is ready to fight but V (the fans) steps in front of her to defend her and their bond, but they are met with a bitter end. A sad reality every artist must face someday. She sheilds V's good eye to protect him from the inevitable. .😭😭😭😭

Beautifully Tragic 💔😢 IU wrote the song, and had a lot of the ideas for this. I've been a wreck since this came out. I love it so much. IU is amazing. Taehyung and IU have awesome chemistry.
