- This box truck had a leaking steering box and needed a ride to the customers main fleet repair shop on the other side of the Cascades. I brought the new rollback truck out and got hooked up to it after finding one little issue with my new fork set, then had a nice and smooth trip the rest of the way over.

Two things. First is that the truck would have been over height if I hauled it on my bed.
Second is that the chains were not dragging, no matter how much you think they were.
But you shouldn't haul with the wheel lift unless something on the bed
@@koroushlevi this truck doesn’t need something on the bed to use the under reach.
@@CaseyLaDelle okay bud it's your truck gonna break not mine
@@koroushlevi so what you’re saying is that you have absolutely no clue about NRC equipment and what it’s rated to do..
@@CaseyLaDelle these damn keyboard professionals are so annoying
Loving the new truck.
100% agree with your comment about the scales and the DOT.
I worked many, many years on nights keeping the wheels of industry turning. I would not allow a truck with an "Out Of Service" item to leave the shop. The company liked it, the drivers liked it (they knew that the truck they were driving was safe and everything worked). Heavy haul logging, hard on trucks!
Was going to comment the same, run legal and safe and you don't have to worry.
And thanks for keeping the rest of us who are sharing the road safe!
Your daughter is an absolute little doll
The new truck looks fantastic! I love how you explain things so thoroughly and your attention to detail is awesome to listen to and see! Stay safe out there!
The customer must like your work. They keep calling you back!
TRIP Check is such a handy feature. I use it all the time. ODOT and Fire marshal you never have to worry about them checking if you play by the rules. Keep up the awesome videos Casey!!
"Wonder where Matts at"..... LOL. Its fun how ya'll all eventually just tease each other. All in fun.
Good morning Casey and Riley! Give the new truck a work out!!
Really liking that air bag scale. As I like to say "that was very uneventful!".
It's NEVER to cold for kids and popsicles! Love to see Riley with her Dad! Hi Riley! Have a GREAT day at school!
That is one good looking truck Casey. Glad you are doing well. God Bless you Brother.
People really don't appreciate the maintenance people. They're out in the most dangerous conditions as well as the ordinary days. And the Incident Response vehicles can be a real blessing when you break down.
Thanks for the tip on the "spring clamps". I'll be using it tomorrow.
Thanks
Bob
Thanks for the tip with the spring clamps. I am forever messing around tying up the lose ends of ratchet straps. I love it. I have a bunch of the spring clamps just never thought of using them for this application. Thank you
Your smiling Riley always makes my day. I watch a number of CZcamsrs and have watch their young children grow up, right in front my eyes. Thanks for sharing your family with us. Just gives me a higher regard for you. Have you been watching the wrecker build from Matt? Thought I would see you with them more often but realized you have a job to do and family to support. Well, keep up the good work and entertaining videos and I'll keep watching them from my lazy boy. Thanks again for sharing.
That measurement deal is cool information for us that don't know
Casey!!! It's too early in the morning for math!!!! 🤪 😂 Great vid as always! It's a good day when you and or Matt from MORR post a vid! ThankQ!! Cheers from an American in New Zealand!
I gotta say i have never seen that style or tow truck before and I love it, and I'm shocked there's not more out there...
I discovered recently that it is less expensive and easier to rent a uhaul truck than a rental car.
Seems lots of car rental agencies have not been able to replace the number of cars they have in the past, thus there are fewer rental cars.
But that's completely non sequitor since I'm here for the cool towing/recovery jobs, and the great office window views.
If you enjoy Oregons roundabout into a roundabout, then try getting your head around the "magic roundabout" in Swindon in the UK. No idea how there are so few accidents there!
Great job. I am sure Matt would have loved one of those Mtn Dews.
Great video Casey I don't suppose there's many fathers do a school run in a huge roll back 🙂.
We haven't had a U-Haul video for a while.
Wow you were very close with the scales Casey, good guess👏
You should check out the magic roundabout in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire England znd tell me how you would like to negotiate that one 🤔😁😉
Casey, love your channel. I laughed at your comments about DOT weigh stations. Back around 1980 I worked two summers for a local / regional moving company. At any time most of our trucks probably had something that would have failed inspections. Definitely a Mickey Mouse operation. As much as possible when we needed to go where there was a state scale, we would take alternate roads.
Do you have School Run, Envy in the US? Riley must definitly have bragging rights! 🤣
Those roundabouts confuse more people than a 4 way stop...
My mother complained that in Watertown SD they where putting in a round about. “We aren’t ready for that sort of thing” I said to her are you saying the residents of Watertown SD are stupid?
The ones on state routes that l have been through aren't big enough for semi trucks. U end up driving on the shoulder and crowd other traffic off the road.
i’m from Oregon and trip check is your best friend
You love your new truck I can tell😊
Just got that app. Very useful tool! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for showing Trip Check. I wish more people used it.
Wonderful tow and it was nice to see U-Haul stocking GMC trucks. Nice explanation of all that you were doing.
Good to see the truck is getting some work!
got to love those cold crisp mornings in central Oregon good vid Casey
also Casey there is another difference, the yellow are cast steel and the grey appear to be welded, looks much better
Freaking spring clamps......great idea
Been using them for years. Fast and easy
Thanks for the video
Cool video love watching you drive that new tow truck
I loved the outside of the truck shot as you were pulling away. Sounded good, both thesound of the engine revving and "the terrible" job you did of shifting. LOL!
Seriously though you were very smooooooth!
That is gonna be a long combination going down the road, Great video, Wouldnt miss it,agreed, lots of round abouts in washington also
So, now I guess we not only have to be physics majors, but geometry buffs as well? Yeah, I'm down with that!!!
Trip check is great in Oregon. They also partners with Cal dot on the I5 Siskiyou pass into California (CA) so you can see northern CA. road conditions on Trip Check.
After my son got out of the Coast Guard after 22 years as an Electronics Technician, he went work for Oregon Department Of Transportation and works on all the Trip check cameras and message boards from Wilsonville, the Portland area and up to the summit at Mount Hood. Loves his job.
Thanks for taking us along.
The only thing to be worried about at the scale is that they will be really slow, and take a long time to check it out.
There’s actually a time limit on how long they can take for an inspection
Great job.
nothing like dads and chains thank good for god chains when you need them nothing like good succes any way gets done safe haveing fun
You were in my neck of the woods. I have dropped many a u-haul in that yard. (you can tow those backwards if they are empty)
Cool & That Truck Appears To Be A Total Game CHANGER 👍👍👍
Casey the scale master might be at lunch, but you and I both know he's the man with ticket book and ink pen 😉😁😅😅🤣
I was in Indiana 2 weeks ago and I found 3 round abouts in a row. One was for entry into a plant, 2nd one was 2 state hwy, 3rd was on to a Love's fuel stop. And somebody thought that was a good idea.
Here in Bend there a neighborhood that has two big roundabouts with a smaller roundabout in the middle to get from one roundabout to the other.
Carmel Indiana has 149 roundabouts. Traffic moves so much better and they have half the accident rate of surrounding towns.
My town has an intersection with a stop light where two large freeways cross. It's 2 lanes in both directions on both freeways. The numbnuts are currently making it a roundabout. Nobody wants it. Everyone is complaining. And, they're still building it. All that money should have been utilized at another known problematic intersection we have.
Strap ends are easy to deal with. No tape, clamps or anything required. Roll it up, loop it under the tight portion, feed halfway through and roll the bundle tight against the ratchet.
Off topic but I see your buddy's trucks all the time. I live in Albany. Then boys not governed. Hard for me to keep up.
Totally agree about the scales. If you, your logs and your truck are all legal, you will move right on through. I have said it before but I am saying it again, that is one pretty truck! YES! A truck can be pretty.
I always enjoy the ride with you. Your Riley is growing up so fast.
Carhart gloves are the best !!
Wonder where Matt’s at! Hilarious
Thanks for taking us along
LOL!! You got me with that last comment!!
That shirt is a classic 💥
You also went to far in bro, uhaul 26 footers have a bar right behind the bumper where you can fork em
Neat.
Always found that Oregon DOT kept that pass pretty clear, and had a clear surface even down to 22* or so in clear weather (except in the deep shade...) Only had to chain up ONCE. Then again I did lose control in slush once right at the entrance to Hoodoo and totaled my Focus wagon, which I loved. Rolled over a snow bank on the south side of the road, just past the entrance. 2010.......
Thanks for the video, always enjoy watching!
Thanks for the tip on trip check. We live in Oregon and we have several trips we need to make for the Hermiston area to the Coos Bay Area.
I live in the Joplin Missouri area I have 25 miles or so from Joplin but we've got roundabout that goes into another roundabout
U haul won't let you film repairs but tows are ok....makes sense lol nice video and some beautiful scenery 👍👍
No, they don’t want me filming anything, but I don’t care and decided to do it anyways.
Nice lol
used trip heck many times and was using it for the flood of 2020 when hwy 11 and i84 got closed to all traffic
Dang Ry is getting big, she don't need a full car seat anymore. Congrats on the new truck bud!
Casey I always enjoy your videos and I agree with you. You shouldn't worry about the scales unless you are doing something wrong.
Keep up the great work
Hi from Springfield Oregon,
Round about,s we starting to get them here in Pennsylvania
Sure beats waiting at signals with no one coming or stopping for no reason. There are a few in my vicinity and they function quite well.... after people get the hang of it. They are a fine cure for problem intersections if the real estate is available. Time and modest gas savers.
Coolest dad ever
You can get the scales with the guage in the dash, a lot easier & you don't have to climb out to see what your drives weigh. They stay more accurate too. We were ordering the trucks with the guage installed at the factory. Of course you bought the truck used from indiana, which explains why the previous owner didn't have a scale on it😊
the trip check app for Oregon is ok, but you will find that they don't update it for quite awhile, sometimes. Often at night & on weekends they don't update the app or conditions, some cameras aren't operational & online. I don't know how many times i've run across nothing updated on trip check for 2 days, over a weekend. Just last winter I've experienced that. Maybe they made changes since last winter, i don't know?
Actually Matt doesn't like mountain dew that much. He drinks it, but it's not his favorite, he just said that in one of his recent videos. Now when he can steal one from Paul at FabRats, he enjoys drinking one then🤣 It's Paul from FabRats that likes mountain dew!🤣
In the air scale install video he said he put it there because it is close to the bed/lift controls, and he can adjust the load without having to go to the cab and back.
Actually if I had the scale gauge on the dash I would have to climb in and out of the cab even more. Having it outside makes the most sense.
@@CaseyLaDelle in your business, i would agree😊
Comes back with a laser holographic projector of numbers that beam into the sky like a batman signal. 😂
@@psycho-nutkase9233 what are you even talking about?
May-sure (measure), said just like Matt. Must be a west coast accent? Also, cool truck! That must have been hilarious to see all of the kids reactions at the school! Haha!
Not a west coast thing
That is so cool you pull the drive shaft. So many people pull one axle which is bad. That will burn up the spider gears. Good job. Love the videos.
Driveshaft or not spidergears are turning. The driveshaft is removed to save the transmission not the spider gears.
@@xmo552 if you pull one axle and leave the drive shaft in it the ring and pinion do not turn. the spiders turn backwards at a crazy amount of rpm and they are not submerged in oil like the ring gear is on the bottom. It is ok to pull one axle and move one a super short distance very slow if need be. I had to replace a 10 ton rear axle because one of my drivers pulled one axle and towed 10 miles 60 mph with the truck in park. coat me 5000.00 to make that deal right. This is on an open diff. if on posi or locker you will destroy it in about 5 blocks. Most city wreckers now pull one axle and they have a dummy plate to put in its place to keep the oil in it. If I had to pull an axle I would pull both. yet many times I refused service from other wreckers who would not pull the drive shaft. always better to pull the drive shaft.
A roundabout into a roundabout in Missouri we call that a dog bone.
Cool
As for your trip check thing, I think most states have something similar. Missouri has a MODOT traveler app that does the same thing.
The ramp on the u haul is sticking out o well 👌
It’s all the way in. That’s how it stays.
We don't fear going over the scales. We hate when we get pulled in for a random inspection as it kills our clock.
Charge by the hour
@@CaseyLaDelle Forgot to mention I am a regional OTR. We don't get to charge DOT.
Well the more I watch the more I like your channel I have not watched this video yet lol watching on my TV the one where hung up in the rocks I always watch on my bedroom TV so I can see completely lol it is only a 55 in TV but I am just watching what ever comes up next so every since I seen how CZcamsrs make money video I do watch ads completely not all of the channels but the ones I really enjoy watching but thank you ahead of time for this video lol
Great video Casey, the new truck is ace. You should check out the magic roundabout in swindon uk, its five mini roundabouts surrounding a main central roundabout
I agree whole heartedly about the scales. If you check your equipment like your supposed to and have paperwork and the Eld since I have one is in order. Let them look. If they find something then Oops I should have caught it before they did. It bothers me so much hearing on the cb hey whats the scales doing? What are you afraid of? If your asking then A: you're overweight and trying to sneak by or B: there's a problem with your equipment hoping to skate by till you get it corrected. It's the new laws and rules were stuck with it whether we like it or not. Like the old saying if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen.
Have you seen the retractable ratchet straps? they beat the clamps by having no loose ends at all, although for what you were doing with your tow lights you'd need 2 retractable ones more than likely to be fair.
Could you provide a link please?
Casey u can get n ur top box when you have a truck on the tow bar u just push it bar all the way out set it down and don't push ur bed back just pick the bed up and then u can get n the box
That’s not how a rollback works…
Roll backs have "locks" and the bed needs to be rolled back a certain distance before it clears the locks, it wont tilt until then.
Nothing better than popsicle for breakfast
You should look in to towing uhauls back to California. I hear they are running low.
Your DOT must be different then I’ve seen tickets given when nothing wrong I’ve seen trucks put out of service then when the mechanics get there they can’t find the problem they can waste your time if they feel like it always went around them when I could my first ten years of trucking never went through a scale I’ve seen to many of them on power trips but I would never pull a load that was unsafe or the equipment have refused many a load due to those factors
10.27.22 QUESTION: Why was the u haul towed and not put on the truck bed? Great video.
Look up
Mine were given to me
It looks like that the U-Haul would fit on the Tilt bed but since you did not put it on the tilted I take it that the heights from ground to top of box would be too high?
Correct
I move those with my 16 series Vulcan flatbed, but I use straps instead of chains
On the wheel lift
If your new tow truck doesn't have automatic high idle then turn the cruise on then hold the deaccelarate button until the idle you want is reached.
I know…
Was it too tall, or too long to load on the flat bed? You had quite a long train there!
Both
That was going to be my question too, why not just flat bed it?? As Casey said, to long and to tall. 👍
Always a drag going from central oregon to the valley of doom . At least you didn’t have to go into Eugene , and get to go straight back To central Oregon . Once I leave the valley for central oregon o definitely will not be going back to the valley , even if my life depends on it , Ide rather just pass on lol !!
What's the elevation of that pass looks tall awesome scenery though I bet you need some purpose built wheel blocks made from steel shaped to truck wheels designed for stability
The road is 5k feet
Nice kid
I hate most of our Oregon roundabouts there mostly just a dumb idea specially on a narrow residential street.
I wanted to see the drive shaft being pulled out........oh well.
A lot of states absolutely fuck you with inspections. sounds like Oregon ain't bad though.
Keep your stuff in order and you won’t have a problem
You haul U-Hauls for U-haul???
The driver of the little car doesn’t have to worry about Matt, Paul’s the one who has Dew circulating in his veins.
Matt use’s them as a seat
I have never seen that scale open that a new 1
Which version of 'Trip Check' do you use? I see lots of trip check apps
