Hey everyone welcome back to another video! Today I am super excited to be checking out this AWESOME Forest River Georgetown GT5! This is in my opinion of the perfect combination of quality and price! What I love about this model is the double slide outs in the bedroom! They are so spacious and nice I know this is a great motorhome that all couples will enjoy!

We found this model at the Houston RV show this last weekend and were really impressed! So much to love about this motorhome. This is Forest River's mid-level gas A, but it really has everything; 22.5" tires, washer/dryer, tons of storage and counter space, huge bedroom, good size shower, fiberglass roof, good size refrigerator, convection microwave, and oven, I could keep going... :) Out of all the RVs we toured at the show, none had such a good combination of features for the price. One other item I really liked about this one was the booth dinette. If you look closely at it in Matt's video, check out how deep the seats are (starting at about 11:08). The cushion comes all the way out to the back of my knees which made it really comfortable. For comparison, we checked out the Bounder. Even though the Bounder has springs in the cushions and a cool trick for switching to a bed without needing a separate cushion, the seat is really short. I felt like I was going to fall forward off the seat.
Nit-picking on a couple of things...The downward opening cabinets are a little strange, but really no big deal. They have the escape window in place of a headboard. It seems like this could be a real issue. You would have to lean back against the the window and the closed blinds if you want to sit up at night. I would much rather have a traditional headboard. The driver and passenger seats are fine but are not as large and overstuffed as some other manufacturers. I noticed that the black tank flush was right next to the exhaust pipe. I am not sure if that would ever be an issue with melting the stinky slinky if it got too close to the hot exhaust pipe. I am not an RV owner yet, so I don't know if you would ever need to run the engine while parked and set up or not.
I have to say that all of the Forest River models were really well designed from the GT7s all the way down to the FR3s. They are definitely our #1 favorite manufacturer right now.

We loved the bedroom, storage and other stuff so much, we bought one last year with FBP! Love your reviews Matt, ours came with the ladder on back, and the Yamaha 5500 generator. We just love it. Thanks again Matt and Andrea!

Andrea Approved!! I don’t like the overhead storage cabinets. They’re upside down and restrict access. Lame bunk over the cab. I love the kitchen layout and amenities, valances and bathroom.

Love this model, Matt. Perfect for this full-time couple. Bought one last year right after we chatted. The roomy bedroom (her office) sealed it for the Mrs and the outside storage did the trick for me. That Moryde tray is perfect for extension poles for cleaning, tools/toolsets, caulk/sealant tubes, tape, bungees, etc. The huge RV fridge and convection microwave are standard, too. We went with the dual panes and the upgraded genset as well as the washer/dryer, like this one. However, ordered ours without paint or decals - solid white! A blank canvas for whatever we decide later, but the white has grown on us - no busy swirls, no decals - and we decided to keep it this way. ** BTW -- the manual for the overhead Euroloft bunk states max load to be 400kg (880 lb) when stationary and limit of 60 kg (132 lb) for bedding material in motion. Puts the Jayco to shame with its 750 lb limit, eh?

Andrea - thank you for reminding Matt about the CCC. One of the models we have thought about.... Likes: pass thru storage, the pull out storage tray in the rear, pull out drawers in pantry, storage door under dinette seating, split bath with seat in shower, I like the interior colors, love the bedroom. dislikes: no ladder (understand about shortages, but deal breaker. I'd have to look for a used one - older model? - with a ladder), hate a window where headboard should be.

That Norcold absorption fridge is the last thing I would want in my motorhome. Note also that there is only one vent behind the fridge. These days, there are two outside vents for an absorption fridge on many RVs. However, two vents would not have helped in my case. I had the four-door Norcold fire when the chemicals leaked from the tubes behind the fridge and shorted out wires below the fridge....

My wife loves that little desk area. On a rainy day with 4 kids (plus me), she would be able to close herself off from the noise.
The bunk-over-the-cab seems good for a kid to a teen. The washer/dryer in the bedroom was a nice surprise. I think this unit was custom ordered with that big 3-way fridge, oven with convection microwave, and that big generator. The full-body paint looks nice. I do not fish or ski so I would remove that rear Morryde slide tray. Great video as always!

My dislikes: (1) The cabinetry. Matt and Andrea are correct tbat with the doors opening down the latches would break. There is enough head space for them to open in an upward position. This is important for those of us who are vertically challenged but horizontally empowered. Also, unless there are interior options of which I am not aware, the wood is very dark. Maybe do a medium grey, or couple the living area with dark lowers and uppers of a lighter shade. (2) The overhead bunk not listing its weight capacity. It would be fine for 1 or 2 small to medium sized children or 2 anorexic adults, I guess. While I am short and am slightly south of 200 lbs, I would hesitate to use it. (3) The theater seats. I personally would a jacknife sofa for additional sleeping space. Maybe this is an option? Some of us would be traveling with 2 or 3 additional adults or teens vs small children, and wouldn't want to share bed space.
Likes: (1) ALL of that storage, inside and out. You have plenty of room for a folding chair--Big Lots, $40, in your choice of colors.
    (2) The kitchen layout. I would like to know if the fridge could run off of the batteries or inverter while driving, and are lithium batteries an option for the house portion and will Forrest River connect them to the alternator so that they charge while you drive?
    (3) The overall floor plan. Plenty of walking space with the slides in and more than enough with the slides out.

RV Trip Wizard is the way to go. Been using the trip planner approaching 4 years and 29000 miles of travel.
That being said, we have traveled 16000 of those miles in our 2021 GT7 36K7 and we are looking forward, to getting rid of the MoHo.
We find our Georgetown very uncomfortable for full timing as well as long travels.
In other matters, we enjoy your videos. Always well done 👍

We very, very seriously considered this very motorhome, but went in favor of the Holiday Rambler Vacationer 33C. This model, for the price, just felt cheap. My husband actually told the factory rep at Hershey that the cab was chintzy. The slide mechanism was less than sturdy in his eyes as well. For roughly the same price, we got the Vacationer with more solid construction, collision mitigation, standard full body paint, an ice maker and the optional dining table and chairs. As a reader, I would miss a headboard in this bed - but I agree the bedroom is nothing short of absolutely freakin' wonderful! Also like the stacking w/d (we have the combo). All said, I still love this unit but can hardly wait to take delivery on our Vacationer!

  • @lkayh
    @lkayh Před 2 lety

Great layout. Love the bedroom and by the way the backsplashes match the valances. Lots lots LOTS of storage. Bathroom looks a little cramped. I might sacrifice a little storage and swap the toilet with the sink to make the sink more accessible. If you’re not going to put drawers under the dinette, then make it open from the bench (piano hinges). You get something way in the back of that it’s going to be a PITA to get it out. And no open-down overhead cabinets.
