  • The Blocker Pattern is a pattern of play used in Rugby which has been played in Rugby League for years and has been adopted by top level Rugby Union. In this video we look at this attacking pattern, discuss how to run it and look at examples of how professional teams are running it.

Only recently found your videos. They are insanely good. Outstanding breakdown of the play, pausing exactly where needed and arrows.... who doesn't love arrows???
The two windows together work really well.
We need more videos from you to boost these subs.
    Love the work!

Whats the difference between the unders and overs line and the blocker pattern? Are these the same thing?

4:08 Why is a defending loose forward blue marking either an inside 12 or outside 13 centre leaving blue 12 to cover attacking red 14, who is usually going to be more agile than the red 12 centre?
Surely blue 13 or blue 11 (defending left wing) should be marking red 14 (attacking right wing).

They're not real rugby players bro; just circles demonstrating the basic pattern.

its cause the blockers i moving them out with his line of run and if that players dosent commit to the blocker the leading runner/blocker gets given the ball and its a break
