Just want to say thanks on all the comments I have had so many from the last few videos so many different opinions, this hobby can really get you down sometimes but hopefully I will get on top of it I try my best and try to show you everything but remember I am in front of the video’s I want to say thanks on all the help you lot are giveing me keeps me going
James I love your down to earth videos and I hope you get this sorted soon not just for your koi but for your peace of mind and Mrs Koi Whisperer.
I have just had a look at the price of pdv salt and the best price I could find was with Kettering Koi who are selling a 25kg bag for £10, you might be able to get it cheaper somewhere as it is food grade salt.
There are so many options and opinions but once you've decided what route you are going down the hardest part is giving the koi and pond time to recover.
I wish you luck and I'm sure we will soon see your koi and pond back to full strength x
You just keep doing what you’re doing pal!! You’ve cost me a trickle over £8k so far doing what you do…..I never thought of a pond until I started watching you, now mines been running just over a year and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done!! Still loads to learn but thanks to you, your videos and your input, I’m getting there and loving everything about it 💪😎
That muck on the collection tray is t in the water though is it ? So it's not in the water column.. and you won't know it all in 49 years James as much as we like to think we do
Hey mate, I feel your pain bud, Remember NUMBER 1 RULE for fish keeping regardless if its marine, tropical or fresh water.. it IS patience... I know its painful to wait/think you could lose fish (EXPENSIVE fish) but time is what you need to see the effects of what your doing in your treatments. So consider that.
Firstly... I Implore you to look into salting your pond... research it and you will SEE what I am talking about and how effective it is against these types of parasitic bacteria... SO maybe do the salting per recommended dose for your size pond and then do a partial water change AFTER some time has elapsed.
Secondly... the muck you cleared out from the drum filter is not the issue TRUST me... YES it is a inefficiency you have discovered to now keep on top of BUT I can tell you from my OWN experienced of keeping a OASE Screenmatic 36 filter system running for over 12 years (without major water changes and ONLY flushing the filter out 1 a year) that fish faecal matter is broken down over the cycle of your media system... yes your media maybe still young but that type of waste is generally present in very small quantities in a pond EVEN with the best water qualities... and by the sheer SIZE of your pond that little muck is nothing literally NOTHING LOL :)
I'm sure many watching your blogs will help you get through this :)
Chin up, keep up the great work aaaaaand... Thank YA mother for the rabbits ;)
@@skeggy yea it is some of it is I dropped the levels in the pond to see it better and every time the pond cleans that water is running over all of it back to pond buddy
Hi James, it's taken me 2 nights to catch up with all the videos but I am now up to date. For me this is a really worthwhile video, this is how we all learn, from each others experiences and trials. Good luck and hope you find the issue. 👍👍
Love that mate
These videos are an invaluable resource keep them up mate.
Great information James, I have recently added a Burton drum to my pond and I am so glad you made this video as I have just checked the waste shoot and found a load of gunk also, Not as much as yours but mine has only been running for a few months, Got the hose pipe on it on the jet setting and blasted it all off, It was full of all sorts of nasties mate, That is probably your issue, Good spot, Nothing is maintenance free, Will give it a blast out with the hose once a week and that should stop the build up of gunk, Get some Virkon tablets in mate ASAP and get them beauties back into shape before the winter hits 👍
Oooh J I’ve got a Burtons drum I’ve never had an issue! But I never would have thought to look under the waste channel. I’ve been jet washing the tray out as muck does build up now and again. Thanks for the heads up. Good look mate. 😊👍
Worth a look let me no how yours looks
Hi James, I don't think that's bacterial, like you say it looks like knock to the head as the showers are so close to the water. Personally I'd raise the showers or lower the water. Salt paste brushed on to surface wounds as such heal really quickly but you need to do it about 3 times over a period of 10 days. If you go for Virkon which I'd recommend go with the powdered version -Virkon Aquatic. Virkon Aquatic has become like part of maintenance for me. I'd add Virkon and topically treat the wounds as water temperature is now against you for healing. Good luck.
Thanks mate appreciate that
Hi James, I am just planning my first Koi pond and have found your videos to be a great source of inspiration. I hope you find the problem with fish, I am sure you will. Ignore the haters as they probably don't know the answer either and just enjoy putting people down. Keep it up, look forward to some more videos.
I’ve learned loads from your channel keep up the great work and hope the fish get better soon 👌🏻
James your a great guy always loved your videos good and bad times . I've learned loads off you over the years hope you sort this problem out soon and don't let them few people get to you . don't forget you have got 17.7k subscribers behind you wishing you the best
Beautiful pond.
Hi James, greeting from the already cold North of Germany. First, I need to say you did a great job with your pond build.
I had a problem some years ago after adding new fish to my pond, and since then I am using simple salt and salt up to 0,5 % when I buy new fish and flush it out slowly with water changes, till it’s out.
I do not think that the little bit of mug found in your drum filter caused the problem. I run a brush filter which accumulates much more between cleanings.
After I started salting, I never again had problems with adding new fish. May you want to give it a try. All the best for you and you fish, Matthias
Hey James, in regards to the reflection on the glass, you could look for a polarizer (filter) for your phone. They probably have some out there. A polarizer helps to eliminate glare and reflections while taking pictures and video.
Cheers, I hope your problems will resolve now.
Hi James, great video, I reckon you have found the problem, makes sense, these drums should come with cleaning brushes, I use Virkon as a precaution measure, every month, I had loads of issues, but this year I have regigged my multibay, fucked off my skimmer can filter and added a separate biological filter, ie a 120litre blue barrel lol, I love watching it move, I have also added filter floss to my bakki towers, I also use salt, but run it down now. The video shows drums do need a little extra eye, and are still great bits of kit, reckon you have nailed it bud, wake in some Virkon. I forgot I've added a Tempest to the skimmer, fingers crossed I've sorted the issue.
Mukashi I'd leave alone and let it heal, don't re-treat unless it looks like it is getting worse.
Drum chutes are notorious for that and a cause for many a bacterial outbreak, regular maintenance of the chute prevents any issues, and if you have an Oase drum like me 2 little airstones in each corner of the narrow inlet chamber prevents floating food collecting in the corners and rotting!
If suspected bacterial 💯 % use Chloramine T, the best for this. Wouldn't bother with salt currently unless it was to get much worse. OK to use Chloramine T with low kh as I have / do and never had any issues with it. Doesn't mention anything about kh levels on the Kusuri packet (I don't think 🤔).
Hopefully you've found the issue and on the road to recovery 👍
Hi James keep up the good work chap . Some people use 15mm black foam pipe covers just put them around the tiles on the inside of the pond then they will only bump there head on the foam and with them being black you won’t notice them that much as your tiles or black
good luck James, top man
I wouldn't of thought to look under the shoot they definitely seem a bit better fingers crossed you found the problem early 🙏👌👍
James love the pond and gorgeous koi I would put bentonite clay in since the fish are flashing
Nijo is fantastic. I have Great results using it,
I add it first of every month/ after any koi treatment & when adding a new koi or netting I love the stuff
Hi James, I like watching your channel. I've kept koi for around 30 years and must say most of my problems have occurred in the last 5 or 6. I started a bigger pond and added more fish. Sometimes the more you mess with a pond the worse it can get. New arrivals 'always' seem to come with problems. So you MUST quarantine. With regard to your bacteria issue, I've had the same problem since I added a drum. Your setup is incredibly clean but yes you do need to service drum filters even if they do look after themselves most of the time. I used pp and Virkon to no effect. The only real benefit was doing a few large water changes. I know you drip-feed water but you need to flush bad bacteria out if they take hold somewhere, you will know very soon if it has worked. Your fish will thank you. Where is your UV BTW.
james thanks for sharing these problems your having i say that because there are loads of beginners out there watching and learning from your videos myself included you are a true inspiration to the koi world and what you have achieved is fantastic if i could help you i would do it in a flash keep up the great work and good luck cheers martyn 👍👍
No one knows everything mate good on you for not stopping the search for the problem 😉
James, I’ve just purchased a TF700 and flat bottom bio if Burtons speak to you about the build up can you let us know what they say? Good luck with sorting the issue sometimes better to just wait it out and monitor the koi.
Brilliant videos mate. Sorry it's happening to you but brilliant help and advice. Thanks for sharing. 👍🏻
Quarantine pond has kept me from issues for about 10 years now, before I built the QP always had parasite and bacteria every time I added fish or plants, hope you get it sorted out
Food for thought, my quarantine pond serves as extra water volume when not being used, circulates back into main pond and gravity feeds from main, shut off valves on intake and return easily shuts it off into its own system, quarantine and then either 100% water in QP or treatment, works for me lol
Hi James your doing a great job, I’m learning from your video’s keep up the good work mate
You have a very nice pond and koi!! What symptoms made you think that you have bacteria problems? I had some of that in the past when alot of waste was built up in my filter. The koi got "red" fins. Once I cleaned the filter the situation bacame much better. Now I have drum filter and the build up of organic waste is rather low so it works much better. How much do the temperature differs between day and night?
Virkon is good for bacterial issues, i am currently using it very successfully, might be worth a try
Hi James, beautiful setup. In my humble opinion I would raise the showers and put a cover over all sharp edges that the fish can jump and hit. Just a thought.
Hi buddy. Loving the videos as always since day 1! On the shower lip and edges of the coping stones try but some black rubber against them so they’re not as sharp if impacted?
On the way mate
Mate I’ve been watching the channel for a while. One thing I have to say is you worry that the content is not always what you think it should be. Well like you say it’s honest. If you have a problem you show it that’s the stuff people need to see. As with all things in life nothing is always Rosie and the way you deal with it I think is brilliant. Never worry about what others think. We that appreciate it will always support you. Thanks for it all it is very educational from the fish to your artwork. Thank your mother for the rabbits
Hi James I had a very similar problem to what you have.
It can be a headache as I couldn’t find anything wrong my fish had clamped fins and sitting in the corner.
After doing all the checks that I know as a hobbyist and speaking to a friend all I done was a 40 percent water change over 3 days and everything sorted itself out.
Sometimes it’s out of our hands and something irritating them I. The water but I’m glad you are back and hope you get it sorted.
And James look out now then lol
Hi James your spray bar looks like it is spraying over the chanel try setting it vertical so it sprays into the middle of the chanel
I'm not a koi keeper but I do watch a lot of CZcams fish related stuff. And water changes seems key and don't change anything that's working. Good luck bud. I suffered 2 large bacteria problems in my tropical tank and lost most fish. But I bounced back.
Same thing with me this year. Had terrible bacterial problem with a few losses unfortunately 😭 Fish getting ulcers then the worst affected getting dropsy etc. In the end I put all the fish in a temp pool, nuked main pond with a massive dose of pp, emptied, virkoned the walls, refilled and been okay since. Whilst the fish were in the temp pool I acriflavined that too. I also purchased fish and had no problems prior. Wonder if alot of the fish were carrying the bacteria or something? Seems strange how many are having bacterial issues this year that have purchased fish. Also I don't know if you are a fan but I salted up to .6% and then let it naturally lower via water changes (this definitely seemed to help the fish) 🙂 Hope you get it sorted, looks like you're getting on top of it quickly which always helps 🙂
PP is very harsh, I would think twice about that. When I had bacterial issues Vicron was the only thing that really helped. The most gentle thing would probably be salt, it’s the old remedies that are the best some times. 0.9% but do it half and half over 2 days, then leave for 48 hours then 50% water change to dilute it. Or you could try salt baths on the kois.
James just another thought while I’m on that might help you and others that have windows in their pond walls, is to cut a sheet of black plastic or wood to the size of your window and devise a method of easily attaching it to cover the window when you’re not needing it or wanting to have it open. I feel less stressed sometimes when I’m in my house and the curtains are closed if you know what I mean. 👍
Hope you get it sorted. The build up on the drum tray could it be to do with the drum being to high. As you said before you was thinking about lowering it. As top of drum should be 250mm from water hight
Definitely in the pipe line next job for me
You just do what you think is right and keep up the good work mate
Thanks Paul I appreciate that some comments are helping thou
Just ignore the bad ones mate at the end of the day it is your pond and your koi I think you are doing great I just wish my pond looked that good lol
I know you’re limited on meds in the Uk, but have you considered just using salt? I’ve cleared up many topical, and gill issues with ease. It’s super cheap and I’ve used it as a first round of treatment before using any other meds.
Hi I’m in Australia & I know what it’s like it can be good or it can be bad. Don’t forget to use salt in your size pond you can use about 2 or 3 kg of salt
Hi james I agree with david raise the showers a inch or 2 and put something on the sharp edges and see how it goes gd luck loved watching u do your dream pond
I hope thats the problem 🤞 Glad you found it 👍 Happy Days 💪💪🐇🐇🐇🐇
Hi great video as usual really hope you get it sorted out. Really lovely the fish and the pond. And don't listen to the people being negative to you. U r real nice guy i wish I could give you some advice but I still learning this hobby too all the best . Rob
Can't beat a good Bead filter mate!
hi james im no expert at all but i know that looked alot off muck in your drum but dont think that would be enogh to give you a bacterial issue think back to your old pond with all your old filters there would have been a build up of waste in them and you never had any issues ,good luck hope all goes well
jason
Just a thought James, maybe move the autofeeder to the middle of the side its on. That way when it throws the food the food is away from the edges where the sharp bits are. Also I have the same feeder and I have mine set a 1m throw and not 0.5m throw, for the same reason, to keep the food away from edges and more spread so the fish are not ontop of each other. Great content. I watched every one. You should be super proud. F the trolls.
Was thinking that mate
Keep your head up, mate.
James, in my experience if you have multiple fish with bruises and ulsers and there is no parasites, then its a bacteria problem. I have treated a few friends ponds with the same symptom you have and used chloramine T to get rid of the problem. Good luck with it.
Hi mate hope it's going good for ya now. U deserve it. A top guy with a top set up love it. U an family 👪 staysafe .
All very best of luck to ya.
Hi james looks like bacteria prob to me. I’ve had same prob last year I used acraflavin 2 doses cleared it & it’s less harmful to your media bacteria. Hope you get it sorted buddy 👍
James, love your vids and the effort you put in to keep your koi in great condition. What I would say though, and I’m only saying, is that I and everyone like me back in the day never achieved perfection in koi keeping. The reason being I believe, is that we keep these beautiful creatures in unnatural conditions and although we don’t do it purposely our interactions with them along with the conditions add stress which in turn weakens their immune system. If you think about it Japanese breeders put fish into unfiltered mud ponds for the summer months and then harvest them in the autumn to be kept indoors for the cooler months. Very rarely do you see these fish in trouble. I believe it’s because they are able to resist the harmful effects of parasites etc. because they’ve been left alone in a nigh-on natural environment. Don’t get me wrong, what you’re doing is what I used to do and probably still would had I not retired from keeping fish myself due to age etc. What I guess I’m trying to say, is that treatments are fine in moderation and when absolutely necessary but over doing it can be counterproductive.
Only wanting to pass on what I learnt during my many years keeping koi and the water they were in.
Hats off to you and Thank your mother for the rabbits 👍
CT and Salt followed by a big water change then use Nijo Lacto Remedy to help the fish and healthy bacteria to recover.
James i have had this issue since march and still stuggling to beat it.iv got another 5 koi with it.😩
Hi mate hopefully you have solved the problem with flashing the drum it seems to be a common problem Andy koi diaries had a problem like your last year
Good luck James hope you sort it buddy
I always add plenty of salt before introducing a new koi into my pond. Salt is always my first treatment. There is an acceptable amount for size of pond.
What are you feeding them James? Just a thought if your still feeding high protein and with low temps they may be struggling to process it yet, if youre on wheatgerm ignore me.
Matt
P.s I would do acriflavin rather than pp mate. PP is harsh.
Still in balance but very little food balance does say water temperature of 18 but pond is at 14 and been told little amounts is still ok down to 12
But will be going over to winter food in the next few weeks
I am definitely not over feeding this time of year in uk
I clean my bottom drain twice a year using a adaptor which fits on your pressure washer, only about £25.
Get that Virkon into the pond..sure you will see a difference 👍🏼
I would sit on your hands James and just observe your fish good luck
I've just noticed at 17min 42 sec you have a drip on your system to the right hand side of your 3 stage dechlorinator. Orther than that good video 👍
Yea thanks we are going to short that out soon mate just waiting on some bits to do the job app at once
Hey brotha! Do a PP treatment. Leave it purple for about 2 hours. Then when it starts to turn brown you can start to do a water change. Add bacteria to showers. PP will help with trichadina and costia. with a drum filter bacteria builds up because we tend to do less water changes. Adding a new koi could not be used to your bacteria level in pond. That's why it's good to add PP to kill off bacteria in pond. Like a reset.
I can't tell you how frustrating this is, you have to do what ever you think is right for your pond but this is a carbon copy of the issues I have had this year. I wish u could have tried virkon earlier and I hope you try it now but with all the voices in your head at the moment I feel for you having to decide. Good luck mate.
P.s. the " two sides of the whisperer "....... Legend 😂
I got to tell you mate, anytime I have ever added a new fish to my pond there has been a moderate to serious problem. I did not have a quarantine facility in the past and I mean literally every single time I put a new fish in there was a problem. Whether it was parasites or something else I end up having to treat my pond. Not sure if this is your issue, but I'm telling you, quarantining your fish before they go in your pod is absolutely Paramount! Good luck brother, what a beautiful pond! You're a good dad to this fish!
any reduction of filtering or air will make a differance try to only decrease by 10%
Always look forward to your vids good or bad James, unfortunately the hobby has its down days for everyone just finding and learning the right course of action, obviously you have tested parameters and they seem to be ok also no parasites visible in this situation from my personal experience i salt at 0.75% for one week turning the top up off to not dilute they will perk up for sure
James. As you said yourself in your last video, sometimes you can cause more problems by being overly proactive. PP seems like an extreme measure to me but Virkon as a mild disinfectant should deal will the after effects of the crap you found on the drum chute.
Your pond, your koi do what you feel is best.
James could it that the new koi has become the first koi to show you there's an issue? Also all that poo wouldn't help as you know. Only thing you could do is speak to Paula renlas about a bacteria sample (water sample)
I had a bacterial problem in the summer !! Seems a lot of people did which I’ve not heard about before (strange ) i noticed my koi weren’t right and carried out water tests and scrapes but could never find anything ,then I noticed couple of koi had some marks then lost a couple aswell !! After speaking to a few dealers they basically said u need to run a course of injections 💵but I ran a treatment of chloramine t and used virkon tabs which I think Sort of helped but gradually things got better and now seems ok !! But some dealers said they might b carriers but not show any signs but other koi might re act to it 🤷♂️As I always use the same dealer ,but got another koi of another !! Which I think was the problem ,in a idea world people will say u shouldn’t jus dumped a koi in your pond ,but Like u I don’t have a q.t so got no choice !!
Fingers crossed for you buddy 🙏
Pp is very harsh for fish, and winters coming just use a antibac treatment,
Hope you get on top of it
Hi James, Your going to get all sorts of advice in here, But ultimately its up to you which way you go, The C.T is good for bacterial, Not sure about the PP unless you still had Trich, then it might be worth it, But if the trich has gone and you definitely think its bacterial then for me C.T would be my choice, Another option is to use something like Aqua Balance VITALIZE, which ive heard nothing but good reviews on for recovering from treatments, scrapes, basically helping them recover themselves,
VITALIZE, includes Vitamins and Aloe Vera, can help after stressful situations such as transportation, netting, rainfall, pH changes and after adding medication to the pond. VITALIZE can also aid recovery from wounds and ulcers.
people alot more knowledgeable than me swear by it. Your choice mate really,
C.T is for sure the best for bacteria and vira - totally agree 👌i used it to get on top of my bacterial problem.
Have no experience with aqua balance vitalize, but i use something similar called malamix17. Can't recommend it enough 🙏👍
I’ve got a Burtons combi 300 and my tray is totally clean and had it 2 years so I wonder why you have all the crap under your tray ? 👍
Keep calm , sit back and see , nothing major I’m sure 😊
In line ( water ) UVA sterilising light for ponds large enclosed inside pipe , kills all bacteria in water in your tank , job done , ebay uk about £50-00 ... Trev.
One trich doesn't make an outbreak, healthy fish can deal with them, but obviously if you feel that one is too many...
The small amount of detritus you found behind the drum is insufficient (in terms of bacterial numbers) to negatively affect the fish, certainly not enough to cause them to flick. You're assuming that all bacteria are pathogenic, however, it's good to keep the numbers of suspended bacteria down to a minimum. In my experience, fish don't flick due to a bacterial infection. It's got to be something else.
not saying you should use it but vikron aquatic tablets solved my problems.even healed an ulcer i just couldnt get to heal? crazy
I know you are worried about them but things don’t look too bad. I decent water change never does any harm, clay won’t hurt and just observe. PP might just add to stress. As you say maybe a second clean of that wound but didn’t look as angry. I had one lay down but swim when you were near the pond, took a lot of scrapes and found costia which can target one fish as you know. You’ve scraped a lot though so I would keep the water quality bang on and keep observing- it will come good buddy
Hey James, found the same build up on the underside of my burtons drum. Since I found all that crap have been cleaning the Shute every week all year. Does collect a lot of crap bud, not great🙄
Mate it’s painful seeing you go through this and we’ve all been there. For me it’s always after introducing a new fish no matter how careful I am.
Hope things get back on track !
I’m completely new to koi keeping and will admit I’m a complete amateur but when James says flicking and flashing what does that actually mean? Sounds stupid but just learning and watching this channel I’ve learnt a lot keep up the great videos james! Thanks mate
The fish flick onto their side to try and scratch themselves 👍
add a water jet under your bridge to clear like the line across the top of the drum if that makes sense buddy
If you've not experienced a problem like this before, no one should immediately expect you to know what to do, simple as that.
All I can offer is that through the hundreds of koi keeping videos I've watched, I have seen a few people give their drums a thorough clean out occasionally, and even a pressure wash now and then, to get rid of any stubborn stuff hanging out on the waste chute.
I guess no matter how good a filter is, it's going to need some upkeep, especially in areas that anyone might not pay as much attention to.
As for fish knocking themselves on capping stones, I noticed a few people using ones with a bull-nosed edge on them during all the lockdown buildathons, but I didn't see anyone put that safe edge towards the fish, only to the outside of the pond, and mostly for looks. Doesn't seem right for the fish to me, everything else in the pond needs to be fish-safe though, but the cappings? Nah, just leave them rough edged, it'll be reet.
Don't worry about the haters mate. It's just jealousy as they're sitting next to their back garden puddle. Having nice things is a sacrifice some are too scared to take. Hope the fish come though. It will just be experience gained this time next month.
Did you know james koi masters and other things like that stop treatments working, iv kept koi for 30 years and i still ask people for help, i also do a pp in spring followed by fluke then october do same again , 1 of mines clamping mate has for few weeks , pp it mate salt after pp and 1 last think buy some sinking food to can be carnage when koi feed by some sinking youl keep some up some down
I would ask my local koidealer or the one you trust what to do James
James net bowl. Your Mukashi Ogon Sedate her and put the carp care kit green spray on the. One bottle to treat the cut twice. Carp care kit body
It looks a lot better use that to heal the cut. I would fucking spay that chagoi your chagoi all over with that. Salt the pond if your koi won’t improve
Hope you have the problem solved . Beautiful fish.
keep your chin up you got this 👍
James, take no notice of the 5% of fools.
All i can say is try and keep away from pp this time of the year because you know yourself it will knock yah filters back.
If it is a bacterial issue try acrifiavine, will help with any wound issues aswell mate
The fish knocking itself James may be down to where it is having to compete more aggressively for food now as your adding more fish
Hopefully you are on to something James and can sort it out now… 🤞🏼
Dont forget James thats on the dirty side of the drum, it will not be making through to the other side, hence whats coming out into the bio etc is clean... Also be careful about adding treatments, it knocks back your bio and hence can aggravate the small issue into a bigger one, bio is king :)... My view is it was something with the new fish, get yourself a small tank and next time quarantine the new fish...
Why ex carp angler ??
Let's just hope you have now found the problem! With bacterial problems I have been informed that ozone is a good treatment and also used for prevention of bacterial issues. Is this something you have looked into?
I would treat the two sick fish and not the pond unless there are signs the other fish are sick. That’s why I use a 100 gallon stock tank. I can put 50 gallons in there a small filter and air stone and I don’t have to use $500 bucks worth of antibiotics or methylene blue. It’s easy to do 50% water changes in a small tank. You can do a succession of treatments. It took me a month to save the one fish that when I put it in a salt bath it went belly up. It sloughed off all its mucous layer and had fin rot. I made a 33 gallon garbage can of dechlorinated water every day for water changes. If you use a known amount of water it’s easier to get the treatment accurate. Plus they can’t pass it on. Treating the whole pond can mess up your filters. Healthy immune systems will protect your other fish.
Great video James, no one knows all the answers! But looking back at videos from Tim and dazzle, adding a fish has a big impact on your pond, it takes time for the system to adjust to the extra load on the filter. Fish will bump themselves, sometimes you just have to take a back seat and let nature take it course . at this time I wouldn’t throw chemicals left right and centre at them because that also may have a impact on their health, just a thought mate, thanks for being back in the game!
James I'd try some clay it's not to harsh a treatment first
If you do add that new treatment double check its okay to be put in along side any other treatments you've already dosed dude!!
I wa going to look at getting a drum but you are not the only onetoo have this issue with the drum waste tray surly the wast trays on all drums should be much wider and deeper
Thinking the same mate
