  • In a hilarious, completely improvised talk, improv master Anthony Veneziale takes to the TED stage for a truly one-of-a-kind performance. Armed with an audience-suggested topic ("stumbling towards intimacy") and a deck of slides he's never seen before, Veneziale crafts a meditation on the intersection of love, language and ... avocados?

    Just a btw for those who have never seen this. The entire intro was BS. He's not an expert in anything. Every slide was a surprise and he had to make the whole thing up on the spot. Even the topic was a surprise. That's why Sarah Kay paused so long, she was making up the intro.

      In improv these types of games are common. The whole point is to put the actor in a jam and make them work their way out. Sarah Kay is a renowned slam poet that I'm familiar with. Just search her and listen. She's quite remarkable. It's worth a few minutes of your time. She speaks beautifully.

The crowd is laughing at him mentally twisting himself in knots trying to accomplish this, effectively communicating that they know what he is going through... but the empathy communicated through laughter because the context is that he's the one who's supposed to be the brainiac genius on stage and subverting their expectations.

    Visual reseptors are vital.
    It is how some of us convey what we feel inside, when we yet to have the words.
    Also; without visual reseptors, it is easier to deceive someone.
    For the only information being recieved are words, and words can be altered and manipulated.
    What I believe I'm trying to say is;
    It is much easier to lie to another through words than our body language and actions.
    Our actions can sometimes deceive as well.

    I would love to give an improvised ted talk! I improvise about 90% of any presentation I give, often sticking to a handful of facts and making a story around it at that moment (I never add fake facts though). People are always complementing on how amazing I am at giving presentations and I get high grades for it. My best friend knows I do this and she always laughs about it. I once did a presentation with someone and he made a powerpoint I had never seen up to that point (I feel guilty for not putting effort in the presentation, but mind I was severely depressed at the time) I bullshitted my way through it by randomly pointing at things and smiling while saying the little I knew about the topic, and got a 9/10.
