  • On this episode, I go explore a new cenote (which are Mexican jungle sink holes) in the middle of nowhere with my trusty metal detector (Nokta Makro Legend [@NoktaEngineering]) and GoPro in hand, and out of nowhere, the Mexican Military shows up!
If you want to see what it's like to live in the Mexican Caribbean as someone who loves adventure, exploration, and free diving (or if you just like some ASMR relaxation of someone searching for treasures underwater), then you are in the right place!
Please like and subscribe to help me reach my goal of reaching 400 subscribers by the end of the month :)
Side note: if you ever had the thought, "Which cenotes should I see?" while you go on your vacation to the Riviera Maya (the area of Mexico that stretches from Cancun to Playa del Carmen to Tulum), this channel will slowly become a great resource to see firsthand all the different cenotes this area has to offer!

The earring could be like an amethyst and the setting tarnished silver or something. Not as expensive as a diamond but still cool!

That’s a good point. I just bought a gem hardness tester! I’ll test it out and report back (:

It looks too shiny to be amethyst unless it was dropped there recently or otherwise was preserved well but then again I’m looking through a camera through a cheap phone over the internet so who knows. Hopefully it’s something more valuable but like you said based on the tarnished setting, it might just be like crystal glass or something. Unless the tarnish is from silver I guess lol

Do you have a strat for covering the entire surface area? Would silt deposits ever cause things to move further into the deeper area? Do you ever turn over stones or logs or anything like that?

Either way you’re gonna get your payday at this rate. And if not, you’ll be satisfied in knowing that you searched all these areas and there wasn’t totally just tons of gold bullion under your nose the entire time lol

Cenotes are historical sites, metal detecting there is like doing it in the Giza pyramids, is better to leave that job to arqueologyst. You only found modern stuff but there are a lot of ancient relics to be found in those places. Those treasures belong to museums not CZcams.

Hello! I appreciate you voicing your concerns. I totally agree with you that ancient Mayan artifacts belong in a museum in Mexico. For this reason, I do not metal detect any known archaeological sites. I metal detect cenotes that are popular with tourists, and my goal is to remove all the trash (and modern objects) left behind by tourists in order to maintain our environment and waters clean for future generations. I am selectively doing this by metal detecting only the shallow areas where tourists stand, play, and swim, and in a very unlikely situation I find an artifact in these areas, it is important to report it to INAH to ensure that the tourists don't damage them. I hope this clears things up. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.
