- The African National Congress has been cautioned against losing its own identity within the government of national unity. While reflecting on the 2024 national and provincial elections outcome, Cosatu president Zingiswa Losi said if the ANC fails to serve the interests of its constituency, it will lose more electoral ground in the looming local government elections.
Losi speaks to Newzroom Afrika's Aldrin Sampear.

ANC has already lost its identity. The mistake that they have made was to join forces with the DA. Remember each of this Parties in the GNU has its own policies and Manifestos which they were campaigning for. BUT NOW EACH OF THE PARTIES HAVE TO COMPROMISE WHAT THEY WERE COMMITTED TO ACCOMPLISH IN DUE COURSE. In cabinet individuals argue instead of registering progress.
So it means our contribution to cosatu is to help and not members.
The ANC's identity is one of corruption, ineptitude and non-delivery. If the new identity is one of accountability and action, then many will be happy. Maybe the Alliance Partners need to ask what their responsibilities were in the past decades when so many were failed.

ANC lost it's identity 30 years ago when they agreed to the existence of Orania. They lost their identity 30 years ago when they said your people demand the return of lands which white colonizers took from your ancestors before 1910. The ANC sold out 30 years ago when agreed to the omission of the existence, history and experience of Apartheid as a criminal offence against humanity from the Constitution of the so-calles democracy Republic of South Africa. Crying over what the GNU can potentially do to the ANC is laughable at this point.

This was inevitable because of what ANC has been doing in the last 15 years. Tripatite alliance lost its identity by its persistace support of the anc. SACP in particular should have left when they realised the identity crisis of the anc. No need to cry, just cut ties
