Watford Gap services celebrated its 50th anniversary on November 2nd, 2009. This film, commissioned by BBC Northampton, features people with genuine connections to the services, the M1, and the county of Northamptonshire. Musical score composed and directed by Benjamin Till.

Clearly tongue in cheek but also a very lovely and personal take on progress in relation to the lives of everyday people. The singing and vocal arrangements are fantastic!

How can one make a musical about Watford Gap without including the song Watford Gap by Manchester's poet laureate Roy Harper?
Clearly this project got away from the BBC.
This was a vibe but metro the musical is waaay better.
1959? The war had been over for 14 years... bless everyone involved in this.
The misery went on a bit after. It took a while for things to start looking up after having to lick all the wounds. Coal rationing had only ended the year before. And the war so messed up dairy production that non-cheddar cheese would be officially discouraged until the eighties! 😀
