The first thing I noticed is the look of pure joy on Helen's face ..... that beautiful smile that seems forever present during her daily duties with mail and work in her office or communicating so sweetly with the birds in the cage or enjoying the scent of the flowers. I’m born and raised and still live in Alabama. When I was in college at Bevill State in Hamilton, I had the great honor of playing Helen’s brother James in “the Miracle Worker” with my theater group. It was our last production. I’d known of Helen all my life but visiting ivy green and then doing the show I feel more connected to her than ever.
Some wonderful footage here. The fact that Helen could type in Braille or on a regular type writer is amazing. It's a testament to her will to overcome, very inspiring. :) Janet

But she hasn't made a new video in 6 years.☹Actually there is more historic Romanov film footage available than there is Helen Keller film footage. When I was making Romanov videos 11 or 12 years ago the film footage didn't seem to be available. But in recent years I've seen collections of Romanov family film footage on youtube that's up to an hour and a half long! Sometimes I think about having a Romanov Channel...just for a change. I know they did say that she had a memory of seeing a crystal chandelier or candelabra or something when she was a baby, but I wonder if she ever had any memory of hearing anything before she got sick as a baby.
Hi Melissa. I assume if she had any memories of hearing things as a baby it was probably locked away in her subconscious mind. I would imagine that since she had sight and hearing until she was 19 months old, that it probably helped her to grasp language etc... more easily than if she had been born deaf and blind. I know they did say that she had a memory of seeing a crystal chandelier or candelabra or something when she was a baby, but I wonder if she ever had any memory of hearing anything before she got sick as a baby.
Hi Melissa. I assume if she had any memories of hearing things as a baby it was probably locked away in her subconscious mind.
I would imagine that since she had sight and hearing until she was 19 months old, that it probably helped her to grasp language etc...
more easily than if she had been born deaf and blind. Thanks for your visit...it's always a pleasure to see you. 🐼
