After 23 years of singing, and 15 of teaching, I can TOTALLY relate with the “been feeling phenomenal for quite some time, then for some freakin reason….Everything started to collapse on me and just like that, weeks of goddamned struggle all around…a total mess” I’m so happy I’m not alone in this.
Wow! This is too awesome. Been so into both of your channels the last few weeks. Excited to listen to this. I'm sure I'll go through this multiple times!
Have taken some lessons with Dan, he is just like this during lessons, super chill and actually knowing what he's doing. He can demonstrate exactly what he means for you to do at anytime.
This is incredible! These are the conversations most of us don't get to be a part of because, we can't find any trained singers to talk to! So much insight here! Thanks Guys!
Absolutely - Danny nearly had the job for the second record!! I've been on Audley's case for 20 years about doing COL again, but it's a closed book sadly. Best - K
Juan diego Florez is my favorite opera singer nowadays :-) Daniel if you wanna get a hold of him, you’ll have to come to Bergamo, here in Italy! He lives here :-)
I understand correctly that the essence of support is to inflate your ribs and inflate like a balloon and not deflate throughout the entire phrase, no matter whether you sing high notes or low ones, without straining your abs
In theory - but, this means many different things to different singers, and is more than just the ribs. Hence why we're back and forth on this topic in the video ha - for me, support is a 'result' of lining everything else up, but I get that it can be the opposite as in Dan's case, where there has to be good support initially to really then get everything else lined up. 1:36:06 It‘s the same for guitar playing. I grew up on Zakk Wylde and I wanted to do that. Then you get advise like play BB King that’s where you learn everything. But it sucks, you don’t like the music that much. 🤷🏻♂️ Now I realise I shouldn’t have played BB King songs. I should’ve listened to his phrasing and timing and adapt that and play like that over my stuff. Would’ve spared me 15 years.
I was obsessed with "becareful with a fool" but the Johnny Winter version . The story I heard was Johnny was 15yrs old and hanging out in tge black blues clubs . Walks up to BB and says "I want to sit in" BB looks at him like he has 3 heads" what are YOU gonna play" Johnny says " I know your whole set"! Later Johnny told Edgar about BB and they got him a record deal . Which apparently is why "Becareful with a Fool " Is on Johnny's first record for Warrner Bros.
A little tough to match your CZcams username to an email to see if it was lost in the shuffle - but yes, I do respond to emails if you've reached out personally. Hit 'contact' up the top to get in touch, pretty straightforward. Best - K
I only offer coaching on a goals basis - so, unless I know what you're working towards and what you're looking for from me, it's literally a question I can't answer unless you're to reach out and get in touch. Best - K
What I really took away from this conversation is that if you are not a naturally gifted singer, then no matter how much you do the exercises, look for methods, you will still never sing as well as those you mentioned do, and this is fatally sad to be honest.
I think you missed the big point there - Danny is one of the greatest singers I've ever heard, and, he wasn't/isn't a natural. Neither am I - I actually still have to follow my own process to the letter or it's a "bad voice day" - the point really being, that much of what is out there is just scratching the surface of a voice that doesn't have a natural head start in tone, even accent etc. But, you absolutely CAN learn to sing well, at least as well as myself or Daniel - if you're looking outside the box. Best - K

This long-content vocal nerding really hits the spot. Love it!
The crossover we didn’t deserve
You didn't ask for it, you didn't even want it - but we gave it to you anyway.

Meeting with Dan this week, will let him know/get him to get in contact with you if so - K
I'm starting lessons with Daniel Thursday. Pretty excited.
Awesome, do it! He's a serious wealth of skill and knowledge, and also funny as hell.
49:47 I can confirm that Guinness works. We play Celtic folk rock and my singer has a great voice without training.
I rather learn though! 😅

Bro how to sing like chad Kroger hes band called nickleback
The ultimate bro band! Sure, if I find a song I can stomach I might use them as a reference in future.
