Living in Germany with Germans can help, but it depends on personal dynamics. I taught myself a lot of beginner German (A1-3 vocab and grammar) and then went to a language school for B1-C. Soon after, I was going pretty well. I bought a newspaper (Berliner Zeitung is easier than some others) every day and underlined and learnt all the words I didn't know. I used a box of physical (lined) flashcards. I wrote the word on the the front and a definition (in German) on the back. For each word I didn't understand, I made a new flashcard. I was pretty fluent before long. I think I used DaF Übungsgrammatik für die Mittelstufe (Hueber) or something like that. For the early stages, I had a basic A1 vocabulary book. This was in the pre-digital age, though it suited me better to use thin cardboard flashcards than digital flashcards. Something about the physicality of laying a card I missed to one side, then re-doing them immediately before putting them at the back of the card box, rather than a computer algorithm deciding which ones I was stumbling on. That really helped me. But I think it's vital to find your own methods and criteria for deciding when you really know a word, and when you kinda don't. You don't have to be *strict* with yourself, just honest. And disciplined. If you hear a word you don't know, make a note of it and ask a native-speaker friend what the person just said. add those words to your unknown words. And take your flashcard box with you on long train journeys. It's a good time to be uninterrupted.

Okay we officially need your German fiancee to start a children narration book. They would fall asleep comforted, instantly.
Or a podcast to lull stressed adults to sleep. It could make you even more millions.
This is not the first time I have seen this kind of comment. And I totally agree!!!
His voice is so soothing, gentle, and soft.❤️
You two are so awesome ❤️
As an American learning German the struggle is so real😭
As a German who had to learn this since I was a kid I feel your pain
I laughed at that ending way too hard, I feel like a bad person now...
Cuz those tears are genuine, people. If you're not learning German, you won't know, but they are GENUINE, she ain't actin'.
As a leaner of the german language, I honestly don't mind the "the"s because it just clicks in my brain for some reason. Like English, it's a memory game.
I've tried learning college math and cried this hard.
Hun, ive been studying German for 16 years and I still mess things up. So don't be too harsh on yourself. I wrote a note for my coworkers and one of them corrected my "die" to a "der" with red pen. I was laughing out loud in the storage room.
With friends like those, who needs enemies XD
It could be seen as the difference between a German police officer and a German engineer. Unless the law was written by the inflexible physics of the Universe... it's most often meant with gentle intent and fuzzier enforcement.
Aw lol she’s so cute ❤
You videos just keep improving every week. And your humour is so funny. Understanding humour is a sign of an advanced level of foreign culture & language. 👍😀
Don't let your fiance do that to you sitting down ask him how he's doing with his Vietnamese lessons!😂😂
😂👏
It's kinda different since they are living in Germany; so knowing German is more relevant than knowing Vietnamese.
@@bucwaah You must be new to Uyen's channel to say that 🙄 German bf is learning Vietnamese so he can communicate to Uyen's family members.
Im Dutch and I can speak a little bit German but the “der” die “das “situation is still hard for me ! I feel you !
Anders zou het veel te makkelijk zijn om Duits te leren.
I can see u guys on repeat , what amazing drama u both put up
These two are the best
I always just mumble some form of ‘dæ’ 🤣
😂😂😂
That’s what I did too
"d Unterschied"
Not possible on tests though, but it feels so good when you end up guessing correctly! I had a German test today and there were like 3 spots where I had to use bag( Tasche ) with the but I had no idea which one to use and I just guessed and wrote die and I checked after class it ended up being correct
Sometimes I just use die for everything. *sigh*
As an Italian 15 yo studying English, German and Spanish I can say YES,it can be REALLY CONFUSING
As a native English speaker, WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO YOURSELF?!
Look, I'm sorry, but English has spent the last few thousand years hanging out in back alleys looking for unsuspecting languages it can mug for loose grammar and vocabulary.
Easier to learn than German@@MrKeserian
German is a very interesting language, but yes, it contains a lot of useless complexity, i.e. complexity that adds nothing to the language's expressiveness.
But italian and spanish are roman languages, they're easy to understand and comunícate even if you don't speak the other, now German... I really get only like four words 😭 and I'm supposed to be trained in understanding as I'm an interpreter 😭 luckily just english-spanish though 😂
@@MrKeserian It's not so much doing it to yourself as it is a prebuilt society enforcing particular things, like learning English. I agree though, fuck the English language.
You can't ever use pre-existing knowledge to learn new things. When I was a kid, I thought "entry" was pronounced "en-try" because I use logic, and only in my 20s did I discover "superfluous" isn't pronounced "super-fluous"
It's easy to learn, but an absolute soulsucking bitch to get down right with all its inconsistencies.
She is sooooo cuteeeee
I really wanted to cry when she was explaining
As a person from Belgium who had to learn German in middle school ... I felt that. My fellow classmates that I haven't seen for years felt that. The teacher who gave up on me during oral exam felt that.
You're not alone. I've cried too. When someone asks about my German progress, I get anxious 😢😅
How is your German language progress going?😊
Ach, ist doch eigentlich alles recht einfach, nach so zehn fünfzehn Jahren hat man das alles im Schlupf raus. ;)
