    So crazy I was just showing my husband that I wanted to try and do this with the exception of the fogger I have a high end humidifier that takes a full jug of water at a time and it digital. As far as your tote leaking maybe get that self adhesive weatherization stripping to seal it better. Like a gasket tub. Basically that's all that they use in the airtight gasket tubs. Or just let it rip and let a little moisture go through it. It's good to have some moisture in your breathing air especially if your in a dryer climate. I'm in Yakima washington and it's really dry so that's why I got my high power humidifier fogger. I just attached a new corrugated hose to it. I'm for sure following through with the mini green house. Inspired so thank you! Great minds think alike

    You can use pvc 4"connector with clamp for air tight seal and aquarium sealant around the pvc for ducting both chambers. Weather stripping for a container with clamps. Also a 4" hole saw in reverse for perfect hole if your going to use ducting.side note the ducting is not air tight material so pvc works better and smaller diameter will push fog into the chamber with less effort, also hook up a humidistat controller to the fan

      i also run my set up very wet, fogger running on a cycle of 2 hrs on 4 hrs off, with the fan on low always, i never have to dunk, they re hydrate on their own. i do this because my humidiswitch didnt work right and i wanted a lot of oxygen for the oysters blocks in there too, so i had to work out the timings to keep it at 99% rh and never drop while still getting the oxygen. not having your fan running all the time will probably lessen the likelihood of things making their way into your water tub.

    Vicks cool mist vaporizer on the second-tier, get a small oscillating fan ,put at bottom left corner facing up on low or buy timer and put on the 30 min schedule.
    Purchase an Inkbird humidity unit and hook it up to the vaporizer. Unzip one side 12 inch or so for FAE and set fan near.

    I'm building one, fan will be in a puller position. By using a pusher configuration (like most people) you are pre-pressurizing the grey bin. If you evacuate air from the other side of the fruit chamber it would create negative pressure and draw the air from the mist box. You might need an exhaust shroud with the fan to create enough pressure to pull the air through efficiently. I think I'll be building a small 50 - 60L chamber soon, for 'educational' purposes... Pay no attention to my alias - it means nothing... really... ;)

    • @jwatkins672012
      @jwatkins672012 Před 4 měsíci

      Pulling humid air through a fan will dramatically reduce fan life. Additionally you'll need to put it high enough that it doesn't get splashed by water as the misting units create a lot of splashing.
      Cant tell from video, as what I don't see on this tent is any FEA. I don't see any exhaust ducting to outside? Without FEA, CO2 will be in the thousands and cause a lot of issues, and without exhausting to outside the house will become unhealthy with high spore load, especially if growing oysters.

  • @randallwayne8684
    @randallwayne8684 Před 4 lety +2

    Dude- just use a ZooMed reptile digger,it only requires a 1 inch hole ,& you can dial in the humidity perfectly. Also,if you cut a tarp big enuf to go 3 inches up around all sides on the bottom,you can use black office file clips, you seal the bottom off. I use a desk top clip fan laying upward on the bottom shelf for FAE. Pretty extreme build u got tho😉👍🏼

You're going to end up spending more more money and have a bunch of piecemealed mismatched parts. the ecosphere is the best product I've seen on the market to do what it is you're trying to do here. I'm a homegrown myself take it from me I know. If you buy the fully loaded model that is 1 with 14 bags. Eight 3lb 5 grain grow bags and six bags of casing mix (substrate) it's $409 Midwest mushrooms throws in a 5th shelf plus the treys to go on the shelves and some other miscellaneous items. The 14 bags cost $220 by their selves. Check out Midwest mushrooms they got the best deals going on growing supplies that I've found anywhere. Everything they sell is specifically designed for growing mushrooms. Their ecosphere is the best deal I have seen anywhere. You can't build it yourself for lesseven if you do save a few dollars you're going to have a bunch of mismatched parts.

    90% RH should be ok for mushrooms, what are you looking to grow that needs more?
    I used soft weather proof foam you use on doors and outdoors to seal boxes.
    If you are going to do temp control you would want to insulate the sides of the tent, i.e. build a fridge.

    To improve this you probably need a 3 disc fogger and an exhaust fan with ducting flowing outside pulling air out for FAE and spore removal. CO2 will buildup fast in there and you will have problems fruiting.

    Maybe a tray of perlite on the bottom would help keep humidity up

    Any thoughts about adding a little hydrogen peroxide to the water to prevent mold or mildew growth in the tub? Seems like it would decompose on the way up the fog pipe and be nothing but water and O2 in the fruiting chamber.

    Hi Drew - Not sure if you check the comments anymore, but if you do, I have a few questions:
    1) Did you ever do a modification for CO2 and spore exhaust?
    2) Did you ever go to a three disk fogger?

    Looks good, but it misses a Oxigen / CO2 exchange. I guess the Oxigen comes in with the fogger, but there's no escape route for CO2 (?).
    How much did you spend for the whole set up ?

    Here's how you might improve performance without upgrading to a multi disk muster:
    Have a chimney running from the mouth of your tub exhaust to the bottom of the tub. Drill large holes all around and all along said chimney. Chimney must be big enough to have the buoy fitted INSIDE it.
    This setup will channel all of the mist generated by the buoy directly to the exhaust port. No loss.
    I used ABS pipe fittings.
