No, you can just regularly use final hunt while the metal bat user's death blow hasn't done it's variant yet.
This may be not true but i think final hunt can also bypass death counter, maybe.

fun fact from tsb: you can dodge any projectile with preys peril. It will shoot it back and they can get hit by their own projectile works with sonic, foul ball from metal ball too.
It doesn't work for explosive shuriken (air version) and blitz shot (air version too)
