Hey Prathyusha Devareddy, One of the main differences between the two degrees is that with an MPH, students learn to look at the social context of health-including social determinants of health, care inequities, and cultural competency in healthcare-while an MHA student learns how to manage the business aspects of healthcare.
Stay back periods can be course dependent. Mostly if it is a 2yrs STEM course with certain specific majors then you get a 24 month stay back period.
I am 42, as a stammer,. have MSc microbiology with exp as med lab tech and clinical research, data management etc. Can i eligible for MPH/clinical / health informatics..

I have a small doubt mam, I had my bachelor's in BSC BSC ( Botany, Zoology and Chemistry) but I have a very much interest in achieving and having career in Hospital / Healthcare Administration. Hi Ragamai Jupaka, People with bachelor's degrees are eligible for most of the MHA programs. Please verify with schools of your choice if they need any other specific requirements in your case.
Does public Heath / health care administration/ management come under stem opt ? If not then how to extend stay after completing studies?
@Kiran Virdi07 some MPH/MHA programs have certain subjects which make them come under STEM OPT. You have to confirm those with the school you apply to. Either acquire a job/H1B sponsor during or by the end of OPT or take another study program or return back.

@Aanchal Mishra, it doesn't need to be a bridge course. It could be a final destination as well depending on people's choices. The compensation difference does absolutely exist and is comparable to the student loans and stress as well. Every job will have different types and amounts of stress. While choosing you have to take into consideration how much debt/investment and stress one is willing to get into and what is one's ambition.

Yes, GRE is needed for most schools. GPA below 3 can be considered.
If a student has dropped a year or two for mbbs in india n then want to pursue MHA MPH MBA in USA will that drop year be a drawback?will that be a minus point for applying in job in USA ???

Hey Kiran, thank you. Expenditure of the course can be around $35-45000 depending on the university and location as you will have living expenses as well in addition to that. Please watch the video where Ketaki gives an idea of how she studied to atleast start with your GRE prep. Depending on which company you get a job and how you negotiate, MPH grads can have a salary of about $70,000-100000.

Dr Sam, can I practice in private practice or own a clinic if I do my DPH residency in Texas after MPH ?
@Pallavi Karigowda , You need a sponsor for working! If a private practice owner is able to sponsor you then yes if they are ok filing insurances in the owners name. Ownership needs you to be GC holder or citizen for the huge loan. But all insurance companies need DDS or DMD credentials to be accepted. So it might be hard to file insurance in your name as an owner.

You can. You may have to give some exams like GRE , TOEFL and also check individual schools you apply to for their requirements.

Some of the schools have MHA programs where you have to select certain subjects like for eg. Biostatistics which are considered under STEM. So try taking those subjects in schools. I know it's hard @Abhi Reddy but try schools with this in mind.

@Varun Tiwari , Check out with your interested or specific schools, certain subjects in some MHA courses which coincide with MHI are considered in STEM.

Nope. Finding jobs for any field can be tricky for international students as they have the visa and work authorization hoops to go through. But most people do find jobs. I have personally known atleast 3 international students who are currently working after MPH.

Green card is dependent on your country of birth in the US. If your employer sponsors your work visa and green card sooner then depending on where you were born some countries do get GC sooner than others.

MHA courses have certain majors which determine if they can be considered for STEM OPT extension or not. You will need to contact individual programs/ schools to know that. All programs usually have 1yr atleast. If considered for STEM extension then it will be eligible for additional 2yrs which comes to a total of 3yrs.

GPA is dependent on how the whole class does in general. If the class topper is 65-70% even then your GPA would be higher. That is the reason why the transcripts are sent from your university where they also explain this part so that ECE elevators have an idea about this.

MHA is stem or non stem course???
Hey Suraj, Masters in health informatics is a stem course. Certain classes/subjects in MHA can be considered STEM for example Biostatistics I think. You will have to individually confirm with the schools you are applying to.

As Ketaki said, there are various choices based on the applicants interests. So identify the subjects or areas in MHA that interest you and then search accordingly to identify the best program for yourself.

Yes you are right. Unless the school has multiple campuses/ libraries etc or the students have internship opportunities outside.
