I have not been in school since 1991 my undergrad is in sociology/criminal justice, been a case manager in high schools and jails , a fitness and holistic health coach, so I took a “mental health break” 2013-present, but now at 53 I’m ready to go back to school for either a MPH or MSW this video was so good , it put a true face to the words Masters in Public Health …. Especially a Melanated woman…. I love helping people but want to make a great impact in the culture ❤
Love it I can relate
I appreciate your knowledge and wisdom. I'm looking to go into the public health world and this was helpful
This young lady knows her stuff (Intro). Everything she has mentioned has been taught in the 1st 3 classes I took with SNHU (MPH). I took a break during the pandemic, but I will be back to school in January.
So glad I found you. I am a dental hygienist and am looking into pursuing an MPH degree. I am very passionate about community health from a perspective such as dentistry but also am intrigued in different ways I can help with prevention of disease or behaviors...
I just got into an MPH program with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health and I was a bit confused with what to do with it but I just love the field of women’s health so i’m happy! Feels good to find somebody with the same concentration!

@@KenyaM0116 Get a STEM degree, make over $135K, and call it a day.
You gave great advice regarding the gap year. I was married and pregnant with my second child when I got my B.A. I absolutely needed a break. I will be attending grad school in the fall. I'm nervous about being away from school for over 2 years but I'm also very excited.
Congrats! You got this! There are many people in my cohort who took time off and have kids. You'll do well!
Thank you for making this video. I'm interested in getting a MPH in adolescent health and this helped me learn more about the field as a whole. ❤

Please I’m confused advise me I do not know which concentration i should pick. I feel like I should go for Epidemiology but I do not have basic background knowledge on calculations and I do not know if it’s something I can grasp and make do with or it’s difficult. Or I should just go for health promotion and prevention
Great video & congratulations in advance🎉
"CHANGE AGENT" i love that!
Same!!
Enjoyed the questions and honest answers! This will help a lot of women!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Hello everyone. My name is Chuck. I'm starting my first class in public health. I enrolled at the University of Arizona. My undergrad is in psychology although I've been working in public health for 22 years. I wish I would have started earlier. All my classes are online
i am really interested in public health, but i dont know what concentration to go for, how do I find my interest if i have not explored them before? and what if i have no previous experience in that field?

Thanks!
Hi! Your video is helpful.
Please, I need your advice on what to do.
I am currently applying for MPH in Canada
My first degree was in Biochemistry, I was asked to submit my CV in relevant to what I have done in public health.
To be sincere, I haven't really done much in that area.
Can you please tell me what to do.
I will be glad to hear from you.
Thank you very much.
I am studying MD, but i wanna MPH after graduating
thanks a you for this video! Can you please tell me the names of the institutions where you studied and are studying now?
Is public health the same as global health? As I am a future pursuer in this field especially will be dong master's so bit confused also I know in the US universities it comes under Public Health Department but I am seeing in Taiwan Universities. So it would really very nice of you if you could guide me in this and share your views.
I'm a Biochemistry undergrat student with an interest in MPH after a one year gap. I would like to ask, does every MPH in universities worldwide have a course concentration/specification? Also, how will your certificate look like, will your concentration be indicated on it?
Your concentration will be based on your research while doing master at some point the way I think.
Iam really interested in Undertaking a masters in public Health but my first degree is not health related can you please advise
Can a midwife with a degree in midwifery read public health?

After complete my B.Sc (chemistry) and M.Sc (Organic chemistry) . Which course is best for me in the UK.
I studied engineering in my UG. I'm I eligible to study masters in public health?
Hey there. Could you please help me out? I am an overseas dentist and currently exploring the MPH program in the UK. Is it the right course for me? How do you choose the specific subject in MPH? Please throw some light on the same.
This was really helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Hello, I just came across this video and I have just started my MPH program with concentration in Maternal and Child health. Any advice please
Which grad school are you attending?
I'm a recent Sociology student from the U.K. and I'm interested in doing my masters in Public Health. Is it possible for someone with my undergraduate background to do that? Thank you :)
Typically MPH programs accept all majors. I was a psychology major in undergrad and just got accepted to one of the top MPH programs in my state
My major was in the humanities, but I had healthcare experience and I took quite a few science and health courses. Just find ways to add to your resume to show that you are passionate about public health and understand what the field has to offer.
greetings I am currently a LVN and pursuing my Bachelors in public health, do you think breaking into this field will be difficult with me if im already working in the medical field? I would like to become a educator in the community with preventative health.
Does the name of school you obtain your public health degree matter when apply for jobs (federal, state, private ?
This is a hard question to answer. I decided to go to a highly ranked school because I thought the name would help me, especially because I don't have any work experience coming straight from undergrad. But I think the name could matter less if an individual has years of work experience. You'll be just as competitive on the job market in my opinion as someone who doesn't have experience and went to a highly ranked school. Of course, you're in a really good position if you have work experience AND you graduate from a highly ranked school. I will say that the higher the school ranking usually equates to better resources and opportunities, so keep that in mind. Hope that helps!
Global health is part of public health. If you choose to pursue a public health degree Global Health could be a specific concentration that you could choose.
I am a bpt graduate and really very interested in doing MPH. Can you please suggest me some good universities offering course in affordable price and do we have any option of doing it online or from distance?
University of Glasgow
@bloom into womanhood
Please I need a template for MPH sop
I am planning to study biomedical engeenering in my undergrad can i study mph after doing that? ❤
I'm an undergraduate in public health now how can I apply for MPH in the US
What are the job opportunities as someone who has masters degree in public health
@Bloom Into Womanhood: Are you working while in graduate school?
Yes, I have been working since I started graduate school. I work for my university, so it's tailored to the graduate student schedule. So far, it is very manageable. I also am in extracurriculars and I still manage to have time to socialize. It takes a lot of planning and time management, but very doable. You just have to learn when to say no to things you can't add to your plate.
@@bloomintowomanhood: Okay, that's awesome
Can you plz plz help me, my question is that I want to study Environmental Health so after that can I do masters in public health?.
I'm not sure if I completely understand your question, but there are plenty of MPH programs with a concentration in Environmental Health Sciences. I recommend going to SOPHAS to see what programs fit your interest. SOPHAS is the public health application portal, but it has a comprehensive list of all programs and their specific concentrations, so you can find a school that matches what you want to study.
@@bloomintowomanhood Thank you😊
How did you survive the statistics or math in your mph courses? I am bad at math and barely survived stats in undergrad. Any tips ? Thank you 🌟
You must get a study group! It is still possible to meet with other students during zoom, but you just have to reach out. Studying with people in my cohort really helped me and they explained things well when I didn't understand. Additionally, going to office hours with the professor or teaching assistants was beneficial. It was very time consuming, but it was so necessary to do the prep work (read the textbook or watch lectures) prior to an assignment or test. My school also offers free tutoring for biostatistics, so that was another useful resource. Make sure you check out the student resources each school has to offer to ensure the academic success of their students. That's how you know if they are really invested in you.
Last thing: Statistics is changing. Please don't go into school expecting that you will be doing things by pen and paper. Everything was done via computer programming (which in my opinion makes statistics a bit easier than in the past). You just need to make sure you understand the code/commands which they will teach you.
Math is not my forte so this was encouraging to read -definitely tech is now the way things are done!
Hey guys, if i want to work in health policy, do I need a Law degree?
Can a BA literature graduate study Mph?
Hey I’m done with my bachelors in Physiotherapy and am planning for an mph.
What’s the scope and job prospects in Canada
Hi can i contact u regarding mph
I’m considering the same.. did you enroll for the program ?
I have an associate degree in Liberal Arts , I want to go into public health with the strong idea to work for an ONG like USAID , WHO , UNICEF in Africa. Any suggestion on which concentration would be ideal ? Any recommendations and suggestions please ? Love your video
From what you are listing, it sounds like you might be interested in programs with a concentration in "Global Health," but do your research first on the different types of concentrations.
@@bloomintowomanhood yes definitely, thank you.
Can I use a bachelors degree in public health to get into med school
Yes, I know of people who have done that! There are people from my school applying to medical, law school, etc. after our MPH degree. However, it really depends on what you need to help boost your application to med school. If you need to boost your science GPA, an MPH may not be helpful (probably look into a post-bac program or master's degree that has science coursework). However, if you are just looking to learn more about public health to supplement your clinical experience as a doctor, I think it's great. There are also many MDs, nurses, and PharmD students/professionals in my MPH program, so there is the option to get your MPH during/after going to Medical school. I recommend talking to the admissions team at the medical schools you're interested in attending and ask them what they think is the best solution for you to be a competitive applicant. Disclaimer: This is just my opinion. Hope that helps!
Thank you very much
Can you move from public health to nursing?
Yes, and vice versa. You could also be a public health nurse, so both at the same time.
Is MPH an online program?
Can you get into MPH if you study food science and technology degree
You can have any background and get an MPH. My major was in the humanities for undergrad. With your particular major it might be helpful to get an MPH in nutrition (as your concentration) if that's something that you still enjoy. Make sure you look at every program's website to see if they have certain requirements for the applicants. Usually they will want to see that you have worked, interned, volunteered, or had some type of experience in whatever concentration you choose to apply to for your MPH. Hope that helps.
Yes you can
Hi , I am from physiotherapy background can I pursue this and will it benefit me
yeah definetely you can
u can work for international organisations also like who
I am a dentist.i want to do mph..

@@dijananahbah1357could you please connect with me? Since I am a dentist too. I want to know whether you opted for MPH??
When I initially graduated from school, I went into the polysomnography field and loved it; now I'm going back to get a Bachelor of Science in Community Health. I want to concentrate on sleep health and nutrition due to it all being linked. I'm trying to figure it out.
