Spot on as always, mate. I collect all the leaves that fall on the paths and roads in the main street of town and dump them in my orchard. Best thing I've found for transforming bad clay soil. And it's free.
Ive been putting my leaves from the gutters and trees in my green bin , funny i pay my council for my good mulch, now i know what to do, thankyou Vasili.
My husband has made me a compost bin and has just finished building me my greenhouse. So now I can go full steam ahead with starting my seedlings in my greenhouse. Plus breaking down everything that is possible for my compost bin.
Absolutely! Autumn leaves are an awesome free resource. I slash mine with the mower and store the excess in a 500l plastic wine tub. I use them both as a mulch and an addition to the compost bins. They are very high in trace minerals. Cheers!
Yep. It took me a couple of years that under my leaf pile lived worms etc. So once a year i scrape the remaining leaves off and there is a pile of beautiful compost to spread around the garden. And then i rake the leaves back.
Exactly, this (leaf compost )is one of the best and needs little effort to prepare.Time has to be given for complete breakdown.Lots of nutrients for the plants .
