    Hi Kevin, nice bit of filming and in depth detail of the Oase, out of interest how much filming is involved before the editing, it was nice to meet you in person and have a chat, as you saw it was like a building site lol, after heavy rain we've had it's sludge every where, I'm sure it will be worth it, stay safe.

      @@AKoiEnthusiast it's not looking good for putting liner in this yr, first time I've ever forgot to turn outside tap off which shouldn't have been a problem anyway because hose was on it with hozelocks and spray nozzle, but somehow it pushed the hose out leaving it to flow freely with tap fully open, neighbour heard water running at midnight thought I was filling pond, I got up at 8 so it had at least 8hrs of continuous water running, it ended up flooding inside pond lifting them sheets of wood up which floating in at least 3" water sand is water logged and hardcore underneath has started to lift, it's like walking on a sponge, I had a few blocks left to fill with concrete then was going to order my liner, this happened a few days ago, but now I'm still not sure I want to finish it, nothing has gone right with this build which I started 17 months ago and most of my equipment will have run out of warranty before it's even been used, sorry bout the winge Kevin.

    I’m amazed Oase haven’t produced a detailed video/s showing the assembly of their Compact series and the additional modules you can attached to it. It’s unhelpful for their customers and must be costing them sales of their additional modules. Thanks for taking the time to produce this video, at least potential buyers have half a clue as to what they can expect. 👍

I would open the BD Valve after filling and let any bits go into the filter. Then turn on the Oase M and let the screens clean then switch on the pump and let it run for a bit and then the UV

    I currently have a Nexus 220 on my airated BD but now need to fit a filter to my skimmer, skimmer is currently installed with the line blanket off, I’m limited on space so I’ve been looking at the compact drum that you have, my only concern is I don’t have a trickle in / trickle out and I’m mindful the drum auto cleans, would it be ok to top up the pond manually of an evening with an hosepipe as I do now whilst cleaning the Nexus or does the drum dump to much water to waste over the course of the day for that to be practical, I appreciate I can set the frequency of the cleans, but I’d need it to be cleaning often enough to reap the benefits and justify to initial cost, thanks in advance.

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  Před 3 lety +1

      The cleaning cycle is default at every 20 minutes and will use 1.1Litre per clean so 3 litres per hour and 36 Litres per 12 hours. If the screen gets dirty or you have a Blanket Weed issue it may clean more often. Depending on the size of your Pond the water used in the cleaning cycle would not really be an issue or drain the pond too much. I never noticed the water level dropping before I made an auto top up set up.

    Kevin Great videos pal.
    I’m just getting back into koi keeping after a 20 year absence ( kids , married etc..... )
    What I would like to know is that I’m in the very early stages of my pond being crafted and wanted to know if the filter that you use has to be a the same level as the pond ????
    Reason I ask is that I had a pump fed system last time, but this time it’s gravity system with a 4” bottom drain going into the filter ..
    Thx for any help 👍🏻

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  Před 3 lety +1

      Cheers for the watch and question. Yes the system is similar to most Gravity fed systems where you set the Min/Max based on the Pond water working levels. If you set it up correct it will detect if the flow slows down which will mean a potential dirt build up on the screens and will then auto clean. Set these up right and it will leave you more time to enjoy your hobby as you will not have to clean the filter or back flush. I check my screens twice a year and do a bottom drain flush. Annually I might brush the screens or scrub them. I actually have a spare set so I swap them annually and then soak them in cement cleaner, washing up liquid and hose them off ready for the next year. When I had a Multy Bay and then the Eazypod I was having to physically clean them out weekly and more often in the Summer. With this unit I don't get my hands wet let alone dirty. It has never failed or had any issues in 3 years so the extra money was well worth it. Yes I could have got a Nexus cheaper but my filter house was not big enough to fit so the Oase small foot print and drum system makes it a Win, Win. Like they say the cheapest way to build a Pond is to build it once and build it right. If I had bought this first it would have saved me a fortune in £'s and effort

      @AKoiEnthusiast  Před rokem +1

      Cheers for watching. This may be long winded but here goes. If the levels are set up correctly and the parameters are set up as default. The Unit will clean for 10 seconds each time. The Drum has two jets capable of 3.5 l/min. meaning in 10 seconds it will pump 1.1 litres of filtered water. The Default cycle is every 20 minutes so every 1 hour it will use 3.3 litres of water. Or every 6 hours it will use 7 Litres of water. That equates to 28 Litres per day. If you chuck in Blanket Weed Treatment you would expect extra cleaning cycles for a week to 10 days. Possibly as much as 50 Litres per day. Hope that helps. If not ask again

Plus I was fed up of manually cleaning the unit more often and also in the rain. It felt like half my spare time was in cleaning the Filter (Plus I had another Eazypod on the second pond) When I swapped it was like heaven and I've not got my fingers wet let alone dirty since. It was nearly £1,950 but worth every penny as I am over stocked and over feed but the water clarity is perfect.

    Hello there, looking for some help please. I've just been setting up my Oase drum filter and I believe I've done everything correctly but I cannot get rid of Er88 on the control panel. I've gone through the instructions several times and can't see what I'm doing wrong but the level detection device still keeps giving me error message Er88. The water level in the unit without anything running is bang on the maximum water level and when I turn the main pond pump on it drops to the minimum level marker. I've tried to set the device as high as it will go and as low as it will go but after a manual clean or after 10 mins of running the display on the control panel changes to Er88. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong.

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  Před 3 lety +1

      Cheers for watching. I did have this a couple of times. First time, the two float indicators in the back left corner, the black plastic tube had got stuck with algae and the adjustable metal arm had been caught opening the lid and had bent down a little. The second time I was right at the beginning and I think my pump was running too fast, so I adjusted the level a little so when the pump was not running the pond level came right up to the top of the waste reservoir. In fact some times if I switch the pump off a little water flows down the waste. Then when the pump (20000) is running at 75% the lowest level is at the Min level on the Filter. If these still do not work I would speak with Oase Tech as they are very helpful too. Sometimes if I get the alert Er88 I just press and hold the On/Off for a few seconds and it clears itself with no issues.

Possibly as much as 50 Litres per day. My Pond is approximately 10,000 Litres so it would be expected/anticipated that I would do a 10% - 20% Water change each week. Let's say 15%. This would mean I would change 1,500Ltrs each week. I only do random water changes because of the Drum Filter cycles plus every 3 days or so I will flush the Pressure Filter which will discharge 40 - 50 litres during the cleaning cycle. Add that to an occasional bottom drain flush and natural evaporation and you may get close to the bottom estimate of 10% water change through general house keeping of the Pond. Hope that helps.
