Really happy to see Darli get another appearance. She is a great addition to the Samsho roster in general so it is great to see her again.
Darli is legit my favourite samsho character
Imagine you're in the middle of a friendly tournament and you get matched up and sliced in half by a hundreds of years old samurai.
Imagine thinking that KOF is in any shape or form a "friendly tournament" in the first place lol
Still better than Whip in the 2D/Sprite days where her level 3 was shooting her opponents in the head with a giant magnum.

Imagine that samurai are hundreds of thousands of years old.
I remember playing through the game with haomaru in samurai showdown on snes and mai showing up in his ending. That's cool to see them referencing that in the trailer.
That Haohmaru and Mai scene was a callback to SamSho 1's ending. Super cool

@@rekkasketch4659 I need to add that both Haohmaru and Mai were present in Neogeo Battle Coliseum. But, the pre-fight scene definetely refers to Haohmaru's ending in SamSho I.
I never thought I would never see the light of day where Darli Dagger shows up in a KOF game. Boy is this a dream come true.
That interaction with Haohmaru and Mai is an actual easter egg. For it's a reference to Haohmaru's ending from the original Samsho where Haoh fight Mai's ancenstor who looks exactly like Mai herself.
Darli's Monster Hunter-ish design and weaponry already makes her one of my all time favorite female fighting game characters, but add onto that her SLOBBERKNOCKER punches and you've got a GOD-TIER shipwright (NOT pirate) waifu.
I love the SamSho 1 reference between Hoahmaru and Mai, he fought someone who looked exactly like her in his ending, and he's mistaking Mai for her. It's implied that that was one of Mai's ancient ancestors from the Shiranui clan. That same ancestor appears in Gen An's ending and kills him.
No she doesn't kill him!!!

@@pilot8220 Yes she does man, lol. In Gen An's ending he literally dies. It's obviously not canon since he appears in SamSho 2, but he does indeed die in his SamSho 1 ending man.

I was laughing when they showed off Darli fighting against Ralf considering that she has essentially the Galatica Phantom punch in SamSho.

Now I can put Dolores and Darli in a Team! Not to mention Terry, Ryo, and Hoahmaru. I grew up playing these protagonists in their perspective games. Haha SNK is on a role with fan service.
I like that the trailer has Nakoruru fighting Gato, as she's kind of a similar character to Gato's sister, Hotaru. Cute, innocent, determined, little sister type, who's in no way fanservice-y. Though, I should say Hotaru's a similar character to Nakoruru, since Nakoruru came first.
"Not fan-servy" don't front, we all remember her old lvl. 3 super.

I get why Max and a bunch of other people would be sick and tired of Nakoruru, because she was so popular back then that she became SNK's female mascot, next to Terry.
Probably the only DLC team I will actually buy. Because I love haomaru
Just curious what you like about him? I played Samsho on the Genesis as a kid, a TON, but I never really enjoyed playing him. He seemed like the brash Ryu of the franchise, but I don't remember his backstory in all honesty.
@@TheCJRhodes Well to be fair, they expanded on him vastly after the first game.
@@TheCJRhodes He's just a badass no holds barred ronin who loves to fight, have a good time, and drink sake. He's also easy going and charismatic. He's basically an 18th century version of Terry. I've always thought Haohmaru was cool.
@@TheCJRhodes it's basically a badass Ryu with a more light attitude, besides hs story it's very well developt trought the series, from a young carefree Samurai to a Legendary old Warrior and cool uncle

I've always loved Nakoruru as a character. The way she represents a marginalized native peoples that frankly never have been treated super well is just really important. Her personality is great. I know people have feelings about her in KOF lol but I'm personally happy to see her again. The others look great as well tbh.

I appreciate her inclusion as an under represented and historically marginalized(Like Burakumin, but not AS badly treated. At least the Ainu can get registered as Japanese.)

So to be clear, the version of Mai that Haohmaru fought in SamSho 1 was a variant rather than an ancestor, right? Also, I’m mostly in this pack for Darli Dagger.
Pretty sure the devs didn't think of it more than a cameo at the time but i guess we'll have to assume that an alternate version of her exists there now

I just got KoF XV a couple of weeks ago and I'm having a lot of fun learning. This team however might be the first team dlc I get. They look like a blast to play, especially Darli Dagger.
That hitstop makes me want to add her to my team.
Darli looks great in this and Haohmaru looks fun
Max, Nakoruru is NEVER going away. She's the SamSho equivalent to Chun-Li. She's super popular and is just as important to SamSho as Haohmaru is. She's always going to represent the series in crossovers no matter what. You can't expect SNK to make a full official SamSho team and NOT put her on it!
not even that, she's literally a mascot for SNK alongside terry.
She is a weak SamSho character that most people avoided playing with.

I miss the "Shadow Outline" previews SNK used for their KOF character previews. I also miss Max's "It's obviously Rock Howard" rants and red outline drawings.
Real question Max. What, if any fighting game, have you stuck with this year despite the absence of new updates & content?

I would really like a "Team DOA" with all the past crossovers and all.
You've always been able to combo in SHOWDOWN. People were just stuck on the supers and hard blows but SS 3 and 4 may have had the most combos.

@@Walking-MY-Path no doubt, I've been playing SS since I was 20. The first,it moves like SF with weapons so how could you not be able to combo. Plus SS and KOF are my fav fighting games from back in the day

I feel like that glimpse of the Haohmaru and Mai cutscene is referencing CVS2 as well.
I loved Yashamaru in Samsho but def feel Darli was the right choice for a new samsho character shes way more popular. Going to play Nakoruru for sure, curious if she will be a good point character
Darli was needed for the plot. Nakoruru held the key to transport to other dimension (KoF Universe), Darli deals with the vessel/mode of transportation, and Haohmaru was basically the cargo.

Max idk if you saw but Oda did an interview for a Spanish outlet and said they aren't sure if matchmaking will be fixed with crossplay update due to them having no idea where to even begin to address the matchmaking as they cannot reproduce it

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate just how much these KoF trailers have improved since the very beginning? From trailers that were honestly a little hard to watch with all the rapid cut in edits, to a trailer that honestly got me highly hyped for SamSho characters, and I haven't even played SamSho before!

I initially wasn’t too interested in this team, but Darli reminded me of that she’s actually super cool so I’m fine with them now.

Idc what anyone says. Nakoruru is STILL my favorite Sam Sho character. I'm so happy she returned to this game. Darli also looks amazing! I never played Sam Sho 2019 so I wonder how much fun she is in a KOF game.
Luckily for us, SamSho 2019 will finally be coming out some time in 2023! What an odd launch for a game that already has DLC and everything but hey I'm here for it.

It's a reference from the original Samurai Shodown. Mai was in Haohmaru and Gen-An ending in the first Samurai Shodown game back in 1993.

I always thought Nakoruru was a ninja with an indigenous-ish design. She's Ainu, which were indigenous Japanese people. She's probably the only character I've seen representing them, aside from maybe somebody in Samurai Champloo.
