  • Have you ever imagined what would happen in a hand-to-hand combat scenario between the forces of the Third Reich and the powerful armed forces of the United States? In this hypothetical framework, it is difficult to predict the outcome of the contest between these two armies at their respective peaks of performance.

    Do not forget the biggest advantage the USA had was transport, which is crucial to manufacture, as it allows many smaller producers, spread out so none of them can be disrupted at a single time, to supply all the needed parts. Then a way to transport them to a central point for shipping, along with allowing those ships to be built. Plus abundant raw materials in the country to use, safe from long supply lines that could easily be disrupted.

    The Russians beat the Germans like a drum, but not before losing 20M people. We just helped them with a second front in mid 1944. We did just about beat the Japanese single handedly though.

    You asked the question wrong. It’s who might have won if the allies didn’t have the help of the US.

      @@user-td2jw9ze2c, we didn’t have to, but without our support the Nazis would not have been defeated. We also fought the war on a 2nd front, virtually alone, and defeated Japan while we were kicking the Nazis asses.

      @@CuttinEJ without the British, there would have never been a Normandy landing and they helped theorically in the Manhattan Project too, USA had the help of both Britain and Canada to liberate France, Japan and Germany bles out their resources and man power in Russia and China, USA literally had help in those fronts, Japan and Germany also fought on more than front, so what's your point here? I know that the US industrial power helped to turn the tides, but stop taking all the credits, if Europe had fallen, USA could have never taken down Germany, same for Japan if China had fallen.

    • @CuttinEJ
      @CuttinEJ Před měsícem

      @@user-td2jw9ze2c, again, you have it backwards. Without the US, Britain would never have been able to invade Normandy. We provided them with the material support that allowed them to survive and resist until we were able to join the war directly. Same with Russia. If we hadn’t supplied them with everything from raw materials to aircraft, they wouldn’t have been able to push the Nazis out of their country. The Canadian contribution, while greatly appreciated, was relatively insignificant and was mostly a subset of the British military. China had fallen by 1938 with the Rape of Nanking. I don’t try to take credit for winning the war singlehandedly. It was most certainly a joint effort between several nations. But I also don’t appreciate how some people try to diminish the role the US played. It’s done subtly by phrasing the question with a backward logic. The US didn’t have to fight in Europe. We could have focused all our efforts on the Pacific theater and had that war over with about 18 months sooner. Instead, we honored our friendship with Britain and made victory in Europe the priority. Without us, Europe most likely would have fallen completely to the Nazis along with Russia and North Africa.

      @@CuttinEJ Japan occupied only quarter of China and there is no way usa could have won the pacific in 18 months! Again, the allies won the war, neither the US or the other allies could have won alone, certainly not the US alone. I didn't diminish in my comment, but Americans need to stop taking ALL the credit, the allies won the war, not just the US.
