If you're using this guide, it doesn't matter which version of python you select, just ensure to enable 'Add Python 3.1x to PATH' and you enable Python to be used for all users. Took me about 3 hours to figure second part out.

People getting the pytorch error on Windows 11, follow below steps:
1. Delete the venv directory from git directory
2. Install Python 3.10.06
3. Run webui.bat to re-establish the stable-diffusion-webui virtual environment (venv directory will be recreated with Python 3.10.6).

Hey Matt, just wanted to thank you for your content. Amazing world we live in today - thank you for sharing this with us!
why it's says python error when i installed everything
Great tutorial, I finally got it working, but you really shouldn't have jump skipped the install process for all the programs. It took me like an hour before I saw the pinned comment telling me to have that checkbox. I could have had a lot of time and frustration saved. Also, installing git was a bit of a process, and had me decide between more things than I was comfortable with. I was not confident with all of my choices, and even though everything was right, it was confusing, and I could see someone slipping at this part. Otherwise, it got me where I needed to be, so thank you :)

I got mine to work However, at the @6:02 talking about the .BAT file. Make sure you download the Python version 3.10 not the newest. It will tell you to downgrade to make it work. Also another big thing I had to figure out. That BAT file couldnt launch Python at first. If you right click the file and click "edit" I had to edit it to run. Change the line "set PYTHON=" to add "py" at the end. entire thing should look like "set PYTHON=py". Save and close, Open again. Hope that helps anyone

Mind = blown, great stuff Matt, thank you for this! Do the latter iterations of Stable Diffusion already contain the previous versions or are are they entirely different things?
Seems they do not since have to download each separately.
for those that are wondering about machine requirements: You'll need a PC with a modern AMD or Intel processor, 16 gigabytes of RAM, an NVIDIA RTX GPU with 8 gigabytes of memory, and a minimum of 10 gigabytes of free storage space available. A GPU with more memory will be able to generate larger images without requiring upscaling
You mention NVIDIA specifically, is that why I can't get it running with my AMD Radeon 6950?
@@nigelhancock3580 technically it is possible to use AMD. But Nvidia has a special hardware in the GPU that makes it faster. I tryed it with an RX 580 but the time that was need was horrible. 1 picture 10 min. So I gave up on that and gonna upgrade my pc ^^

Do i have to run the bat file every time i want to open stable diffusion locally? because i saved the local link and it worked the first time bun now that i want to open it again when i paste the link in the browser it doesn't open
If you're getting error code 1, a possible problem is that the newest version may actually be too new. Going back and using 310 instead of 312 solved it for me. If it then starts giving you an error about not being able to find python at the prior directory, I worked around this by making a copy of the 310 directory and making it a 312 directory. It was none the wiser and I finally after hours of working on this was able to get it to actually run.

how did you do it sir?
1.) Install version 3.10
2.) Make a copy of that install folder
3.) Deinstall 3.10.11
4.) Intall newest version and set "Add...to PATH"
5.) Rename that folder and name the copy of version 3.10 into what ever the newest version is. @@bakirshakirov

whats the biggest difference in using 1.4 original over the new 1.5? And significant advantages or disadvantages?
I am interested in knowing this too. It says Runwayml which is really good tool for animations. I wonder if I can use just 1.5.
I believe it's insanely important to let your users know AMD Graphics cards will not work. (although does have a workaround and technically works [eventually]). Even something as beefy as a 6800XT or something like that will take FOREVER to render and that is after using the workaround. This is because of the lack of CUDA cores on the GPU. Don't want to get too technical on y'all but if you have an AMD card (even a new one) I would not have high hopes.
I can confirm that. About 50% of the users here will not benefit from the local solution because the image generation via CPU simply takes too long. In the meantime, all arguments actually speak for nvidia in the graphics area, even if I have been satisfied with AMD cards for more than 20 years.
@@camar078 I have bought a NVidia card to compare the 2. I will compare results between the two when I get everything setup and ready to go.
@@zeloguy Does anyone else have the problem that when generating in SD the GPU ignores the templimits set? I have my temp limit in afterburner to 83°c and I never had any issue in every game or application it doesn't run over that limit, but then I used SD and it literally ignored it and went up to 95° and Hotspot even 105°. I tried a lot to downvolt set power to 80% and set even lower temp limit but it ignores it completely in SD and still went up to 90°
What is this can't figure it out and why does it work in any apply cation but not in Stable Diffusion? Anyone else running in some GPU issues or is it just me?
BTW I run a GTX1070ti 8GB, 16GB ddr4 3200 and AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Might the 1070ti be too old at this point? It takes around 30-60s for a batch of 4 512 to 800 Pixel Images so I am happy with the speed, it's just I cannot get the heat limit to work. I might need to either invest in better cooling or just buy a newer GPU...
@@Gaphalor What graphics card are you using? I would also use MSIAfterburner to create a custom curve. Those heat numbers will burn out your card in no time. Remember that a game is going up and down with the amount of graphics card usage it utilizes. A1111 will use 100% for however long you are rendering and if the fans are not set to handle that (or can't handle that) then you are going to get a toasty (and eventually dead) graphics card.
@@zeloguy I have an Asus Rog Strix 1070ti 8GB, so with 3 Fans and I put all of them to 100% at even 80 degrees, it helped a bit but not enough. I just wonder why it keeps pushing 100% when I set heat limit, normally the card stays perfectly in the limit.
So its basicly not possible to run stable Diffusion on less then a 100% card?
If thats the case I think I will not use Stable Diffusion until I have another card, I wont risk to burn my GPU down
Thank you so much for making this video and your comfortable voice~ 😘

Yes. You own the images that you generate.
Is there a list somewhere that says what the minimum GPU specs are? I have an older computer I'd like to run this on so I don't have to install so much runtime stuff on my main PC.
NVIDIA RTX GPU with 8 gigabytes of memory.
Very important NOTE: From what I have read, AMD cards are essentially NOT supported (I have an AMD card). adding "COMMANDLINE_ARGS= --lowvram --precision full --no-half --skip-torch-cuda-test" to webui-user.batch file is a work-around but ends up using your CPU for processing which drastically lowers performance.
Thanks for jumping in! Super helpful. :)

Hi Matt, I followed the steps and was able to load Stable Diffusion in my browser. However, when Ii click generate, I got "Connection Errored Out" error. Do you have any ideas why?
I'm not sure. Do you have a decent GPU on your computer? You should have at least 8GB of VRAM to run the local version.
You have to keep the Python open. I closed python and tried running the stable Diffusion and got the same error. I Reopend the webui-user.bat and then it worked fine.
It should say on the cmd window why it didn't run. If you have a slow GPU might have to close apps that aren't being used. I'm running it on a 4gb gtx1650 and I get that when they are looking for more vram
I had the same error. Followed other advice in these comments to uninstall Python 3.10.10 and install 3.10.09 instead. That seemed to fixed it as I can now generate images.

Love the video and all your channel and just how up-to-date you are Matt. have run into an issue.. I hope you can help me with, while installing python - got this error; raise RuntimeError(message)
RuntimeError: Error running command.
Command: "C:\AI\stable-diffusion-webui\venv\Scripts\python.exe" -c "import torch; assert torch.cuda.is_available(), 'Torch is not able to use GPU; add --skip-torch-cuda-test to COMMANDLINE_ARGS variable to disable this check'"
Error code: 1
stdout:
stderr: Traceback (most recent call last):
File "", line 1, in
AssertionError: Torch is not able to use GPU; add --skip-torch-cuda-test to COMMANDLINE_ARGS variable to disable this check... any idea as to the solution Matt?? Lee
right-click on the webui-user.bat file > choose edit > replace "set COMMANDLINE_ARGS=" with "set COMMANDLINE_ARGS= --skip-torch-cuda-test" > save > run the webui-user.bat file
That seems to be working for me. Thanks!
I followed your instructions step by step. Everything went exactly as you said until I went back to the stable-diffusion-website folder. There is no webui-user.bat file the last two files are both webui-user.
Same for me 😅
@@fabel213 hopefully someone has an answer or fix. I really want to be able to install locally.
Yep, same here too. Went back uninstalled python 3.11 and installed 3.10.9 as one user suggested but still no webui-user.bat file
me too so sad
i have the same isue has anybody found the solution?
Best tutorial I've ever seen
Thank you for this tutorial. It was really useful ^^
Matt, loving the videos. Is there anyway to get a private consultation? I have a procedure that I’m trying to figure out, but I’m more of an artist than a computer person. I’d of course be willing to pay you for your time. Please comment here if you’re interested. (This is also open to others who are experts in the field. If you’re interested, comment and I’ll give you the details)
Shoot me a DM on Twitter. I don't have a ton of time at the moment to do phone consultations but if I can offer advice or point you in the right direction, I will.
We definitely don't want to take any business away from Matt, but if he can't help you we have a few people on our team that probably can. We have done work for clients all over the world. Just finished work for a car company in Poland and a job where we generated 650,000 high resolution images in 3 days! We can definitely help! (But again, make sure Matt get's a shot at the business first)
