Absolutely disagree with your choice of grease. You need to use appropriate lube. Vasiline melts at skin temp, what do you think will happen when the brakes are used? White lithium is not much better. If the pads do not come with grease, buy some. Do not cheap out on brakes.
It's a shame that the factory doesn't put some anti-seize on those pins when first installed, it would save a lot of unnecessary work and uneven brake pad wear. They probably don't because of cost and also helps the dealers get brake work. Nice job and video !
those caliper slides, pins and busjings are lubricated at the factory, this set was neglected for years and the lube was probably burnt/ washed away years before
There are practical limitations to what you can use as the slides need to slide easily, and most anti-seize is somewhat thick and gummy. The best way to ensure proper function is to clean everything, thoroughly (if you have a bench grinder with a wire wheel, clean those pins!) and use only a film of lubricant. Gobbing it on there the way this guy did doesn't automatically hurt, but it doesn't accomplish anything, either except to collect more dirt. And while petroleum jelly and white grease may be slippery, you need to keep the wash-out resistance in mind. You don't want water washing those gobs of grease onto the pad faces or rotor itself. Brake lubricants keep wash-out resistance in mind. A great alternative is to use those spray-can products of anti-squeal on the back of the pad faces as it creates a water-proof coating that won't wash out. Followed by a little molybdenum grease (which serves a specific purpose on brakes--very high melting point) to the caliper piston faces (just a film) and things should be all well.
The mount bolts don't come out easy cause they have loctite on threads from factory. Impact works easily on thread sealer bolts. Don't you lithium grease like this cheapo did.
Do yourself a favor and put anti seize on the caliper to slide pin bolts and the pad bracket bolts. In your environment you'll be happy you did it next time you do brakes.
great video as always i like to watch your videos i think your a great person and a good family man but here is my one comment and hope it doesn't come a cross as negative there is enough of that in the world right now your comment about buying all of your parts on amazon what about the young man that just got a job at the local auto parts store that lives in your community. you want people to buy local Christmas trees
That is a great discussion to have and I appreciate that point. From a local economy perspective, buying local is always better. But from a sustainability perspective, delivery and ordering online is much more efficient on the whole. What is better - 10 people all go to the store and drive a car 10 miles each to get a part. Or one delivery truck comes from a central warehouse and delivers to all ten people. I think this is one way the economy will change in the future, more delivery drivers, warehouse workers, postal workers, etc. Just a thought but your point is also 100% correct

So is the vibration packets help from kinda like skipping to a stop? I have 99 GMC Sierra and if I’m going like 50 or faster my brakes like to skip
Do you need to torque the bolts down to a specific set amount, or just go by feel?
