I use to drive garbage trucks for 8 years. I remember a Chinese couple that died in their home for whatever reason. I myself fought for 6 years to implement a change in policy that if any resident didn’t put their garbage can to the road three weeks in a row we would report it to L.E. I went further to include the mail Carrie’s as well and I was shot down left and right because of laziness!!! This was back in 2006!
Thank you for the effort.
That’s a very good idea!! Glad to know you’re looking out :)
You're something else. I appreciate the change you want to bring. Hopefully, more people learn from you.
Somewhat of a good idea, though people do go away for more than 3 weeks sometimes. Would you want the cops breaking into your home while you're on vacation?
@@scottsent8120 why do you automatically assume the cops would need to break in? That’s not logical!
Tragic and super sad that no one wondered about them for over a year. 😞

shame on you for judging people who like to keep to themself and not noisy there way into other people lives
Guess what it wouldn't surprise me if the dam neighbors did it. Then you got the neighbors talking to the reporters. And reason why it wasn't no mail was because the neighbors who did it probably got the keys from the victims and made sure when they got their mail, they got the victims Mail as well. If Sherlock Holmes was real ,he would have the whole neighborhood as suspects. Like the neighbor said out her own mouth, they use speak after each one got off work. So now for 18 months you don't speak anymore. 🤔 Real Fishy 🐟 🤔
90% of the people in this neighborhood in Orchard Hills do not speak enough English to hold up a common conversation, and often keep to themselves anyways. Very quiet around here.
More than one year?

That is so heartbreaking. I know a family with an autistic daughter who is in her 30s; their whole life is centered around her. They can't leave her alone. The parents work in shifts (one in the morning / the other does nights) so that one of them is always home with her. Basically, they lost their lives (but they love her). They lost connection with so many friends or family because they can't go to parties, or travel, or just be normal. Sounds like this family and explains why they didn't have a big enough circle to check on them. They kept to themselves. I'm so sorry they were so alone, but I hope they've found peace now
This is why I choose to live in Asia as we can hire affordable live in help. It's the early mornings that are the most difficult as our Autistic son periodically wakes up at 2am or 5am with anxiety. We need at least three people to hold him down during his anxiety attacks. It's manageable for now but most likely impossible once we reach our mid 60s as we'll be physically weak to handle him. This is where live in help of at least two assistants will come in handy. Institutionalization is out of the question as we love our son so much.
Before I came to Comments, this was the exact scenario I was thinking must be the case.

I don’t see how this could not be a murder. How would three adults all die without time for one to escape or call police? I should like to know what position the bodies were in. And wouldn’t there be power used (fridge, etc) that would require billing?
Also, check the fridge for something like milk. Generally the date of sale is pretty close to the date of expiration, so the expiration date on the milk, which someone who had access to the house must have brought, would be a good indicator of when this occurred.
@slingshotvibe It's thought to be a murder suicide.
As for billing, this is a wealthy area. Bills could have been on auto-pay and enough money to cover them in accounts.
But this is definitely super bizarre.
The HOA must have been keeping up with the lawn care as well.
Or maybe if it was a murder suicide as expected the murderer planned ahead and paid up utilities for a year, or made arrangements with companies. Told the HOA they were leaving for a year. Etc etc.
Super crazy to think a whole family of 3 can be laying in a house decomposing for 18 months and nobody knows.
Heartbreaking really.
I was thinking same about electricity, but perhaps it was shut off. And your right about checking food dates such as milk. I'm sure the police have.
Said its believed to be a murder suicide with gun.
Murder-suicide, it's gonna take a while to figure that out since it's been 18 months. But what else can it be, gas leaks like someone said but neighbors would have smell it.
HOA doesn't care about anything but getting their money how horrific this is 3 people
Yeah but how where the HOA getting their money, if they’ve been deceased for a year to 18 months? Who was mowing their yard? And who was paying for that service? Also, what about the mortgage payments on the house? You can’t go that long without paying and not contacting the lender without the foreclosure process to start on the home. Go up to a neighbor you haven’t seen in a while, bringing homemade pie or flowers just to say ‘Hi haven’t seen you, hope all is well.’
Same in the Hispanic community! 🤣 I must say now I live in a white neighborhood and I swear I became like them .. now I don’t even know what happens in my neighborhood 🤦🏻♀️
Agreed...
to all the people wondering how something like this could have gone-on for 12-18 months... it is actually surprisingly easy.
To start, when you take out a home loan, all reoccurring house-related expenses generally go through escrow. This includes your mortgage dues, homeowners insurance, property tax, mello roos and HOA (where applicable), and other miscellaneous items. The escrow company handles the divvying-out of these funds; all you need to do is pay the escrow the correct amount on a routine basis. This is easily accomplished through automatic bank transfers. If you set automatic payments with no expiry and never run out of money, this can go on indefinitely.
Next, lawn care in some communities is 100% handled by HOA; irrigation, trimming and all, which as I mentioned before is likely paid through escrow. There is likely a single landscaping company that goes-in on a routine basis and handles all manner of lawn/foliage maintenance.
Next, these look like relatively new houses. They're likely pretty well-sealed and with no windows open there would be very little way for anybody outside to notice any smell.
Finally, the fact that this happened in Irvine corroborates all of the above notes. If you live in Irvine, you probably make a lot of money and have enough sitting in your bank account(s) to pay off your mortgage, but you keep the mortgage up because your interest rate is 2.5% and you like having liquidity. Your time is too valuable for you to worry about manually paying bills, so everything is on autopay. The neighborhood has an HOA with mandatory lawn care because not having a perfect lawn is a major transgression and having a single landscaping company take care of everything ensures that yardwork noise is set to a specific schedule. You don't talk to your neighbors, because a good neighbor in Irvine is an invisible one. Your mail gets saved at the post office indefinitely because USPS is accustomed to people leaving for months or years at a time, likely traveling or living at their 3-4 other residences. Most of it is junk mail anyway; everything important is paperless.
So yeah, interesting news story; Not really surprising though if you understand how Irvine works and how different their reality is from most other people.
Makes a lot of sense when you bring in all those factors. I still wonder why their local friends didn't check up on them.
I can tell you do not live in Irvine.

@@jam6636 it can happen anywhere. It has nothing to do with single family homes. I have always been in homes where everyone knew each other and talked. They probably owned the house and most likely were just behind on property taxes and sewer bill
But I’m no detective just speculation
How no body didn't hear the shots !!?? Something isn't right about this
An ENTIRE YEAR?! My God, this is HORRIBLE!
The HOA needs to be investigated for not investigating, and also, what did they die from? Was it carbon monoxide? Drugs?
COVID maybe?
Another news said it was a possible murder suicide
They think it was a murder-suicide.

Good to know that the authorities are looking out for us
yes after 18 months
As a former postal employee after mail accumulates unclaimed for 3 or more days without customer collecting it ,postal employee leaves notice in customer mailbox notifying them mail will be held in office for another 10 days and if customer does not claim it, Postal service s obligated to return it to the sender
Well they should also report it to the cops.
@@WillChil466 Mind your own business
I forget to check my mail for WEEKS sometimes. When I finally get around to it, it's packed so full it's hard to pull it all out. But I never got any notices and the postman never stopped delivering my mail
@@jeanniemarie5947 packed full,clearly your carrier(s) aren’t doing their duty.
The bills and rent must have magically paid itself as well.
People with children on the autism spectrum tend to be more isolated than typical parents. It can be a really, REALLY lonely road.. Maybe that’s why the neighbors went so long without their absence being noticed. Plus with all of this pandemic stuff, people are having trouble attending to their own lives, much less the lives of some neighbors they barely knew.
Everyone pointing fingers about how no one noticed remember it was covid alot of ppl were self isolating and if your at home no need to drive anywere so car wouldnt have moved
Sad that neighbors don’t care to check in on their neighbors…
Some of the neighbors recently moved in.
They're not under any obligation to.
Who was paying the mortgage, property taxes, etc.? The mail had to be stacking up too.
Three people can LITERALLY be decomposing in their home for 18 months, and nobody will even bat an eyelash. Even worse than the horror of the deaths of these three people, is the complete disconnect that people have with one another nowadays. I mean, what does that say about our society and culture that something like this can happen?
There are countless videos on CZcams of Good Samaritans going out of their way to help others in danger. Stop being dramatic and claiming no one cares. This specific story is in a rich neighborhood where you can go long periods of time without seeing people. Many homes there are empty because the owners live in other parts of the country for long periods of time.
So melodramatic. Steven, why didn't you notice? You know everything going on with your neighbors?
@@christoffesedao3579 Dramatic? Dude, we're not talking about a few weeks, we're talking about 18 MONTHS where there were dead bodies decomposing inside the house! There were neighbors a few feet away, people who knew the comings and goings of these people, and then suddenly, no one sees them anymore. Yeah,, people really need to mind their own business more than the so already, right? Yeah, I wouldn't be so self absorbed with my own life to at least start asking questions as to why the Smiths we're there one day, and gone the next, while also maybe putting that together with the green mold growing in the pool, and the collection of newspapers in the driveway. But yeah, it's none of my business, right? I've got bills to pay.
Dude. It’s Irvine. Been there? You’ll understand. About as antiseptic and lifeless as that last Band-Aid in the box that expired seven years ago..
It was the ht of a epidemic. Wecwere all hiding in our hovels scared to death ,remember?
Say what you will about 3rd world countries, but this would have never happened there . The neighbors would have been on high alert after 3 days of not seeing them .
It could of been they got covid and just ended it. I remember when it first started everyone was panicking even my husband and I thought we were doomed we even arranged to have someone take care of our dogs if something happened, people were dropping like flies
This is horrific! Rip to all that’s why it’s so important to pay attention to things and check on ur family
i always walk everyday with my son and one day i noticed that one of the apartments close to the road has full of big green flies. kindly weird because maybe somebody die inside and no one knows, i checked again next day and the flies are getting more. I waited for somebody to pass the area and mention it to them luckily shes living in that area and she told me she will call somebody to open the apartment. After few days i saw a cleaning company,
I imagine that the roaches in that place was crazy when they discovered the corpses. Sad situation... may they rest in peace
Also that model of car came out last year So that would it happen right around the time the car was purchase
Ok so u mean to tell me that none of the neighbors heard the 3gun shots? Almost a year and no one noticed the decomposition smell? Idk I don't think it's a suicide to be honest
It was Covid.Of course.
No one picks up their mail anymore lady.
True. I get so little. Bills paid online.
If you dont see anybody ayour neighbour's, always check for them, or call the police. what a shame
No
Wtf?
Who was paying there Condo fees?
Automatic. Notva condo, just a hoa hood.
Those houses/neighborhood are in the million+ price range, so have a feeling it is paid off. Taxes though can't be automated monthly unless you are a senior 65+ then you can do it in installments, so not sure how that was working out.
Edit: Well looks like it isn't paid off as it says there is still a mortgage amount of a little over a million left on the house according to Zillow. So autopay I assume.
Up to 18 months? This is so sad. So their utilities and phones must have been cut off, there apparently was not mortgage or rent being paid. The parents didn't work? This is scary that 3 people would just cease to exist and nobody was looking for them, no family close enough to raise an alarm before then. Just went back and read the comments about having bills on auto pay. That's definitely a possibility.
Who was paying the house note and /or electricity ?
How did the home not go into foreclosure? Did they just have 18 months of mortgage payments in the bank?
Wealthy people usually have continuous direct deposits and auto pay arrangements.
more to be revealed.
The house must have been paid for... nothing... Property taxes... nothing too, family... nothing.
Yep. Happened in an apartment complex with a John Doe in I believe his 80's about a year ago where I lived.
Terrifying things is that pest control did rounds a day before and nothing was said or done until the next day.
I could smell it through closed doors and windows from an adjacent building.
Coroner/ME, fire department, law enforcement, private investigators all showed up.
Completely blockaded off that front side of the building. Nosy kids were out trying to figure out what was going on, and I know for a fact that people lived above this man.
Had a buddy who worked at the gas station and one of the responding EMTs happened to come in that day.
They told us he had been there for at least two or three months, and was to a degree of decomp that the John Doe was pretty much just skeletal remains at that point.
Oh, and during the middle of a very humid summer too.
When it's like that? You often have to condemn the area because the decay has seeped in through the floors into the concrete foundation of the building. We watched multiple firefighters and LEOs who were responding come out and walk over to a nearby building to vomit. It was gruesome.
Eventually they got the skeletal remains into a coffin and locked up before purging the apartment.
Yeah, that's still an open apartment to my understanding. Landlords are horrific.
Gruesome story
i have autism. having autism doesn't mean you automatically have developmental delays. while i totally get that the son might have been on the spectrum and that could very well have been why he often sat on the swings, the way the reporter put it is very frustrating and insensitive to those who are adults on the spectrum and don't deal with developmental delays. it really irks me to hear rhetoric like this, especially in autism acceptance month.
Get over it please don’t get sensitive to the sun just get over it you’re better off getting over it life is too short OK
Her point was saying what the neighbors believed to be true that they thought their adult son was autistic, because it was odd for someone his age to be on the swing as often. Don't think the reporter was trying to be insensitive. I have someone in my family who is autistic so I certainly understand why you may feel this way.
@@kandiceblu1 for real Kandice? Luckily for you you never had to walk in this person's shoes. There are just some things in life you should never get over maybe or maybe you have never had to walk through a storm before in your life. just be prepared when one comes.

It's 2022 no big surprise... This is what this country has breeded. All about you and yours. Until you end up being the one nobody misses.
I could see this happening. So many neighbors DGAF anymore and only care about their own families. Nobody helps their neighbor anymore. It's stupid.
