    Great build! Easy and well made! You can take a heat gun on the end the rod goes in and then slide a wine bottle in to give you a lip on the pipe

    You should make a collapsible one using wing nuts. The aluminum angle could over lap where the wing nuts would go. Would be good for someone who carry's just a backpack.

    aluminum angle. if you look online it will come up also under aluminum angle iron just to find it. the bigger you use the more sturdy it is in the sand. i go to ace Hardware to get mine but you should be able to find it at Home Depot or Lowe's also

    Good video for a good DIY sand spike. I would only suggest using a longer bottom bolt, going through both sides of the PVC, to create a "stop" for the but of your surf rod. This alteration to not allow the but of the rod to go beyond the bottom of the PVC will avoid a hang up trying to retrieve the rod in the excitement of a strike or "fish on" situation.

    Awesome, vid. Sorry, but do you know the name and size of those bolts?
    Also, will a hack saw work for the aluminum angle? Thanks!

      mogtrader8 i used stainless bolts so you wouldn't have a rust problem and in all honesty as long as you have the correct length 4 the bolts to go through the PVC and the aluminum angle then you should be perfectly fine size really doesn't matter they're just there to hold it and as for a hacksaw yes it would definitely cut through the aluminum angle

      i go to ace hardware and its just aluminum angle iron. its in the same section as the steel at my store. you can use steel angle but you have to coat it for rust protection. sorry for not getting back to you sooner. computer has been down.

  • @mogtrader8
    @mogtrader8 Před 6 lety

    i used small bolts and they snapped one day when hammering the spike. now, i gotta drill bigger holes, get bigger bolts. maybe thicker bolts
    what are locking nuts?

    • @sharkbiteoutdoors2498
      @sharkbiteoutdoors2498  Před 5 lety

      Lock nuts are the ones with the teflon ring inside them so they dont move on you. Wont shake loose

    Why would you describe the size of the pipe but not describe the size of the angle? Length, width and thickness?

      I can do a revised video if you would like. But a foot push shouldn't be to hard for me to figure out. I use a rubber mallet tho
