    Hey guys, I really enjoyed seeing the Step Child out on the rocks! The last obstacle Kevin did was SICK!!! The back and forth banter in the beginning had me laughing my a$$ off. Great line from John Ford/John Wayne movie "Red River ": "Keep mouth shut, dust not get in." ! Seems like 40's without mod'ing steering was an expensive move, but its only money. • @trailrunnah8886
      @trailrunnah8886 Před 2 lety +4

      @@williamj.barnhartjr.3108 probably cost. They don't have a solid axle vehicle in that size range, so they'd have to engineer it from scratch. And also, they probably looked at their intended market, and it was people not quite hardcore enough to want the solid front axle that the Wrangler has. (Look at how many people religiously love Toyotas, and they're all IFS in the US) For an IFS vehicle, the Bronco seems to work pretty well, although this guy figured out the weaknesses of the steering system for sure.

Other than the super duty pickups, Ford doesn't make a solid front axle vehicle, so they'd have to start with something from scratch for the Bronco. Considering it's mostly based on the Ranger, it wouldn't make sense financially for them to do that.

    Fair comments though. Solid points People think you need all the heavy upgrades to wheel but you don’t. They are there for reliability and the speed at which you can do those obstacles

    Thank you for pushing the limits of the Bronco! I want to see more development with the steering racks, doesn't sound like the axles are a weak link, which is a great thing. I'm even concerned with 35's on a Badlands, it's going to need something... I've got a feeling my 74' would hang with Stepchild but I'm WAY too far away.

    Did you find out what had happened to the window vipers ?
    I'm also looking forward to the Bronco build, I would probably go for a baja romp 'n' fun truck, or perhaps a beach cruiser, where that IFS can do it's magic. 😀
    Maybe some Bilstein shocks too.

    It's too bad about the Bronco but more R&D and better parts for it is needed then it will keep up! Happy Trails to both of you! Brittany you know sunglasses will keep the dirt out of your eyes. Lol
