Harvestella suffered from the same issue Kitaria Fables did. They were both promoted as and appeared to be life sims with action RPG elements but they are actually action RPGs with some life sim elements on the side.
If I read this before I purchased I would've been a much happier person -- perfect way to sum the game up!

I’m getting my OLED tomorrow and I’ve been on a binge of switch game videos. All of them have skippable beginnings. At least the first few mins. I wish they were all like this.

The music in this game is some of the best I've ever heard in a video game, and that's not an exaggeration.

@@LamoReviews Ikr! I just had to leach "castle of illusiuon" from CZcams even before I finished the game. Because after a certain point in the story you can never hear it again and it's one of my favourite jrpg songs ever. Still in my playlist.

Great review ☺️ I picked the game up a couple weeks ago and I'm absolutely obsessed. Just hit the start of chapter 4 and I already have every farm upgrade built with like 400k grilla to spend haha.
One thing I did notice about this review, you mentioned that you found it frustrating not being able to heal because your stomach was full. You aren't intended to use food to heal. You should be using food at a monolite to get the bonus stat buffs, and then during battle you should be healing with drinks

I recently commented on a post saying this was my goty last year. This is such an underrated game and I hope it comes to xbox and gets a sequel. This was one of the best jrpg I ever played.
I was going to get it when it first came out but put it off because there was so much negatively around the game but I’m so glad I got it 😄 also learnt my lesson to not pay attention to that stuff.
I do prefer rune factory 5 over this one but Harvestella isn’t far off

Not gonna lie, I thought the blurry graphics were a design choice and I really loved it cause it felt like a moving painting ^^;;

Love the review, thanks for showing us the game! I tried it myself at a friend's place, but just never really got into the vibe. After this I'll have to try again! I especially loev the art styel, in true square enix fashion! Keep it up and keep these coming, you're doing amazing.

Update as bought it last week in sale, and nodding along with all your comments re watching the review after a few days of playing. Absolutely bang on review, it's more a story game with combat and a bit of farming which I had forgotten!
The time limit kept me away from this game but I think I should go ahead and give it a shot.

Been really on the fence about this game and wanted to know more about it.
I think the amount of dialogue and cut scenes that you describe would drive me a bit nuts, but I do also love collect-a-thon game mechanics.
Even in games that don't necessarily have them I will often make my own.
When I play different Minecraft modpacks one thing I like to do is make a wall of item's I've ticked off in a pack. For example I made a list of every resource bee in the last pack I played and ticked them off as I bred and captured them all. And of course there's Pokemon. Rule of the collect-a-thons.

Great review. Looking for a game with a good/understandable collection system. This look like it might be a contender
Only problem is that it does take a few hours of gameplay to reach it, but definitely a great game for collection fans!
I recently started the game and I find a very annoying that I have to go back home to sleep every five minutes, I feel like I can't get anything done

I only started playing and so far I'm not bored with it. My main problem is if I get bored with a game while playing it is where I will never return to play the game. They got a good story going for the game and I love story games for the most part, but for the combat? THE FRIGGIN COMBAT is... what gets to me. I like the idea with the job system.. but.. buuuuut.. dodging is non existent.. it's either I get to heal on time or I get hit first then back to the house.
Oh my gosh, the dodging! It’s terrible and very frustrating. Im glad you understand haha! And I wouldn’t mind so much if I could just keep healing when your character gets full and you can’t heal anymore

I'm not sure if you've done this yet but you can get an animal that speeds up your travel while going between areas, so it doesn't take up so much time. It's really helpful!
Great game. Only real problem is that your allies are stupid. They don't respond on being attacked, they'll just stand there and get murdered like nothing happens. Worst AI I've seen in a few decades.
I sometimes used allies to distract monsters, so they'd get hit instead of me. So at least they're slightly useful haha!
Hundred times better looking than Rune Factory 5.
I wished square enix would release the OST on CD. I bought the MP3 Album... but I want it on CD
CD would be awesome! I didn’t even realise games did that. Now I need to go find game soundtracks on cd to collect hahaha

Square Enix releases a lot physical OSTs (NieR, Final Fantasy and a lot of Arrangement Albums). And these physical releases are truly something special compared to regular stuff.

Yeah it's such a shame you can't go into the barns where you house your animals, or customize your farm all that much

@@LamoReviews I played this and octopath traveller 2 and I think I have enough hummable badass tracks for life haha. Honestly some of the most addicting music tracks! Very beautiful instruments and melodies!

Yeah pretty standard for most Nintendo games unfortunately. There should be some game sales coming up soon so you should keep an eye out

I’ve seen it in summer sale for 45 and thought it was still too much
I got lucky, someone at gamestop mis-labeled this game at $30 and when it rang up at 60 they said oops and cut the price to 30 😊
Come for the farming sim, stay for the Nier Automata plot twists and the crushing weight of the failures of mankind and human civilization.
I wasn't horribly dissapointed nor thrilled, didn't help that i played this right after the absolute masterpiece that is Xenoblade 3... i like that it feels whimsical in a way, the graphics are good, the music is good. The plot is very meh and i could go without pretty much 80% of the cutscenes and loading times.
It kinda feels cheap, like something someone made in RPG Maker, but other than that, since it WAS cheap in my particular case i don't mind it

@@LamoReviews It's got long cutscenes as well, but it's strongpoint is the characters, one of the few times that i actually grew to legitimately like the party characters and care about them, there's also a few fun twists in the plot i never saw coming

i'm playing this game, i'm on chapter 4. it has its flaws that makes it boring. I want to sell a lot of my crops get insanely rich, buy updates, a lot for my house. Basically the anime Isekai nonbiri desuka. and get a waifu. But no. This game makes it boring, Crap money for getting crops, almost no base construction. No romance what so ever. no relevant decisions (every option the mc gets to choose is basically the same) even Mc face its the same if you pick boy or girl or binary or whatever. so lazy development there. Same boring quests from going point A to B> C

The game sells you a farm game but pushes you to only rush the main story because the farming game feels incomplete.
Exactly! I ended up having too much money to know what to do with. More farm upgrades would have been great
You also have to take into account that the switch is really underpowered. Compared to PC, PS5 and Xbox it is like playing a game on your phone.
Yeah thats fair, probably should have gotten it on the PC! Although nothing beats laying in bed playing the switch
It is on the Nintendo switch so graphics aren’t going to be the same as a high end pc so it’s not going to be the same. I’m thinking on buying it for £22 but not sure
