Really immersive gameplay content, I literally caught myself pressing the 'U-key' to check on the bomb camera lol.
If you press your "hover key" while you move the helicopter tries to stop as fast as possible.
Little tip for the future.

I can stop way faster than hover mode can. Hover mode tries to keep your altitude at all times, if you throw collective near 0% (you need some to maintain stability) you can turn pretty hard to stop quickly

For those of us who have progressed nowhere near enough in the game to get access too helicopters, do they work in either air or naval realistic or are they strictly a ground game mode vehicle ? (I avoid ground like the proverbial plague lol)

You can dive with the helicopter in relative safety, flying at more than 1200 meters and with the engine at minimum power at the time of the dive. By doing this you can resume flying Level after diving
I request a video on the He 100! It's stupidly fast for 1.7, can hold 550+ km/h at deck no problem, excellent climber, only downside is it's engine likes to burn so keep an eye on the temp. Not too OP, and super fun! Bring it to a higher br for a challenge if you want

The discount announcement came a little late sadly.
From seeing that one guy on CZcams with actual Heli controls to use, and has a fantastic experience, I'd say you can only have a good time with Helicopters if you have proper intuitive controls, but that's enthusiast territory.
Bruce Leroy uses a $200 stick and throttle setup for both War Thunder and other flight sims. It's considered a budget flight stick.
