- In this video, Anton - chief designer and origamist at Oru Kayak introduces our V21 lineup. Check out what he has to say about each kayak in detail, and what they’re designed for.
All of our origami kayaks are super lightweight, making it easy to carry alongside you, folded as a box, or even on your back. When folded into box form, it can be transported virtually anywhere - in a car, on a hike, and even on a plane!
The Inlet, Beach LT, and the Haven TT are built for flatwater paddling - they are very stable and more beginner-friendly kayaks. These 3 are open cockpit kayaks which makes it much easier to hop in and out of.
The Coast XT and Bay ST are the more performance geared models in our lineup. These are closed cockpit boats and are designed for more rugged and open waters. Great for intermediate to advanced kayakers who like to go fast and enjoy navigating the unpredictable seas.
Oru’s kayaks are lighter and much easier to handle than inflatable or hardshell boats. Not to mention they can go anywhere you do - the possibilities are endless! Just a few mins to assemble and disassemble and boom, you’re ready for your next adventure!
Whether you’re a beginner kayaker or a more seasoned paddler, Oru has a kayak for you.

They should do one for fishing Solo and 14 foot 👌
Got the Beach one. It’s great fun a perfect size for someone without a lot of storage space
Ordered two inlets , they're arriving next week.. can't wait
I’ve received mine 2 weeks ago and love it!
Enjoy!
The inlet is definitely fun to use at the beach! Just stay close to the shore
Tried both the Bay and Coast models in calm to rough waters out in Pacifica and Monterey. Tried Solo Haven. I'm saving up for a haven.
Great video! Keep up the great work you are doing.
seam like the best the Kayak which I'm looking for! thank you
I wish you would’ve showed more on the first three boats of how kids fix I only see one seat on the first two models. I’m looking to buy two kayaks. One for me the adult plus a little kid. A second kayak for two children. We want to be able to go on adventures 🌸
I'm also holding off in hopes of a skeg or rudder.
I’m getting my heaven kayak soon !
Hello, I am really interested in an oru kayak but I keep hearing bad reviews regarding quality control. Can you sort of assure me about the quality in your product?
Tuktec better
Great innovation. It looks like the boxes the post office uses?
Magnificient
I would buy one but just too expensive. Got 2 Tucktecs instead. I do like your designs, really seem great but out of my budget.
There’s really no reason why this kayak should be so expensive. They would sell so many more if the price was remotely reasonable. Remember Peloton!
Was doing some research on the Inlet and saw the lake I was interested in paddling in. Lake Merritt in Oakland, CA!
me too lol
I am super into the Haven. The only thing that has hung me up is the lack of a skeg or rudder. Will there eventually be a rudder or skeg upgrade coming?
Would you recommend it to take on the odd fishing trip in rivers or the coast?
They should fit a retractable skeg to trim the kajak when its windy.because like this its only for calm conditions because it is high out of the water
Can you pack those onto the rag of a bicycle? How much luggage can be stored in them? Looks great!
I think this is the kayak for me. I need to save up...
I read mixed reviews (but these are people comparing a regular HEAVY hardshell kayak to the Oru). That is a dumb comparision given the benefits a kayak like this (including storage in an apartment closet, easy transport in a vehicle and easy carry to/from the water). I haven't owned an Oru because it wasn't available years ago when I was looking for a kayak like this, for a number of reasons. I kayak alone and have challenges putting a heavy plastic kayak on the car roof, and carrying it too / from the water (the kayak carts are expensive for what you get and often the kayak falls off the cart, especially on trails with roots/rocks on the ground). I looked at getting a skin/frame kayak (but even 20-25 years ago these frame kayaks cost $3500, and they can be cumbersome/time consuming to setup). I also looked at getting hard shell nesting kayaks that come in 3 pieces (I tested multiple models at the store, I have a standard size 4 door sedan car, the middle piece was too wide or long to fit in back seat or trunk (defeating the purpose of owning a kayak like this). So that leaves inflatable kayaks (while they have gotten much better/more rigid in recent years), you have to deal with puncture holes (not a good thing being out of the water and springing a leak) and even the more expensive inflatables are NOT good in open water/windy conditions (and you have to pump it up/deflate it each time as well, some of them have a fickle air nozzle that are prone to breaking). What I wound up doing is buying a fiberglass paddleboard and strapping a kayak seat to it (it tracked much better on the flat water, was easy to put on my vehicle and carry to the water). but I would have preferred to have an Oru kayak (if they were avaialable at that time), because kayaking on a paddleboard is not ideal especially in choppy water in cold conditions.
Thank you for your comment, John. We appreciate it! 🧡😊🙌
Our kayak certainly doesn't reply to any comments, do they really exist ?.
Fantastic. Where do I buy from in the UK? Are they available over here?
Hi, which Kayak would be best to carry a fishing rod and go fishing on the Hudson River ?
WHY am i seeing this only now...?! I need one in two weeks... ARG
You no longer make them in USA?
No inflation bags to make up for the lack of bulkheads on the coast? How does that work when you capsize out at sea?
Good afternoon,
Congratulations on the innovation. I am very interested, there is a store or dealer in Portugal where I can see your kayak.
Best regards,
Eduardo Pinto
which is best for being over 6'5 but also handling rougher waters?
Hello I am from Vancouver Island, I currently live and work in Alberta and I would like buy an Oru Kayak from
You and I would also like to become an Oru Ambassador and promoter.
Even though I don’t own an Oru yet I believe in you and your products
Which one can handle rocks and branches without ripping
The materials that are used for this are extremely affordable. Why is this cost between 800 to 1999 for these? Theres plenty of better options that dont cost that much. On top of that theres no protection plan thats offered for any of them that doesn't cost more money. Honestly thease need to come down in price and maybe then more people would be comfortable with buying something like this. And also offer repairs
I new it I was like excellent idea but watch them be ridiculously expensive.
are they very strong if you land on a beach?
Does it track pretty straight?
Can you give the dimensions of the box for the Bay please.
Any of these able to handle white water rafting just out of curiosity?
make the straps like the backpack. i wanna hike with it but not goes on my shoulder. 2% to me :D
You gotta check out my review on the inlet kayak and it’s super like and transferable it is pin I bought 2 and did a review today of me usin the inlet but it felt like more then 20 pounds
What kind of material are these made of?
Can the performance models be used for white water rapids?
In your night dreams 😂 or if you re about to commit suicide
Can you fish with the Inlet ???
Thank proposing main thing how much do they cost
Haven TT would be great but why not for sea?
Ah so they are called oru
In germany there is a Shop that sells kayaks like this with the name foldyack. But you cant find them elsewhere. Seems these are the same as here?
I am product developer myself +my name is Anton❤
Can u add pedals?
if it is that great. It shouldn't have warranty for just a year. It should be warranty more than that. Stand behind your products. Don't just stay behind your products only a year.
Can you make a 14ft boat, please?
I want to get one so badly, to entertain and keep my daughters active but I can’t afford one
Please start selling these in Canada 🙏
Oru will ship to Canada or can be bought at a retail store. Where do you live?
What, no place for mounting a skeg? Been there tried that, I'll pass.
may i have chance to test this kayak for free in Hong Kong?
Audio but no video.
do you guys plan to become a publicly traded company?
Terravent folding kayak has copy from your Oru kayak. The price is so cheap.
Not responding to customer. Questions and concerns is a red flag.
I was interested until you pointed the camera into the sun and did peekaboo with the sun behind people . That makes me wonder how ill get treated after the sale
"It's named after the Sam Francisco Bay."
...It's called the 'Bay'. It could literally be named after *any* bay.
"This one is named after the ocean, obviously."
...No, *not* obviously! *WHICH* ocean is it named after?! I have to know!
Billy Ocean
Very cool looking products. A couple things: 1. A 7.5 min long video and you never show a full assembly/unfolding and re-folding of even one of all your models? Isn't that the whole point? 2. Why haven't you answered a single question asked in this chat after two full years? Get on it.
Hi! We do have Assembly & Disassembly videos on our channel, here is one of them czcams.com/video/MfHgTd2mGoE/video.html Thank you for your suggestions, we are on it! 🧡
dude fold up materials and you want over $300 lmao the price is so inflated good god talk about burning money, this is a great idea for 2-$350 price range. Quit robbing people dam!
guess you don't own a lambo either.
@@THE_CHOAS_ENGINE so these cheaply made kayaks are lambo quality?
@@adamr8628 who said Lambos are good quality? All I was suggesting by mentioning lambos is that people who can't afford them don't own them... Just like ORU Kayaks. The Haven TT is what I have and for my desired needs it is worth the money in my opinion.
@@THE_CHOAS_ENGINE I hear ya. But it's not even about what people can afford.....it's more about what's valuable to people. Most people could probably afford a Haven, (less then a months salary for most people) but many people won't value it enough to buy it. Especially with cheaper options out there Now a Lambo, thats a different story...(more than a year's salary for many people)..many people really don't have the money to afford that. Roughly $2000 vs over $100,000 is a big difference.
Overpriced.
