- What happens when you drive into anti tank mine with off-road army truck? How bad is the damage to the truck? Could driver survive the blast? On this educational science experiment we test this out! Don't try this at home or anywhere else. We have safe test location and all necessary knowledge and permits to do this tests in a safe way!

Who wanna see one of the front tires inflated to 4500 psi with the scuba compressor!?!!
Yes please.
Everyone…? 🙏
Why even ask? You know what we want
Yes
Are there saunas in Finland? Of course we want to see it! No need to ask, mate...
"Don't try this at home"
*sad noises as I stash away my ANTI TANK MINES*
Me:I did that on my garden..
Just go to someone else's home 😂
but I want to "recycle" my Tesla 😢
🤣🤣
Sadly, the closest we have to a Disco ZIL is Doskozil, and I don't think he'd be up for it... D:
I think the synopsis "you would definitely shit yourself and you would never hear anything again" is pretty much all the new recruits need to know. This should be written into training manuals. Valuable contribution to soldier training. Approved 👍
I laughed out loud
It's a language that is easy to understand. Perhaps "Your spine is permanently 2cm shorter, you shit yourself and you'll never hear anything again" would across how undesirable the situation is.
Actually with that kind of overpressure, it might very well be "your lungs are smashed and you slowly drown in your own blood".
That guy from the Sisu movie would probably get mild tinnitus and a small scratch if he stepped on it.
I have a friend who drove over a landmine in Ukraine while driving civilian evac, and he reckons not only his hearing, but his ability to think has been permanently affected. Hit on the drivers side front , so he was right on top of it.
"Everybody knows the most hardcore and elite groups in the Army are the truck drivers!" 🤣 That's why we love Lauri!!
"Dont fill the tires too fast or you will loose the brakes" made me crack up instantly....
awesome!!
& the windshield wipers use air so don't use those too much either 😂🤣💀
Imagine driving in heavy rain and losing brakes because you decided to put windscreen wipers on max.
The fact that you can raise and lower pressure on the fly is freaking cool honestly
@@Samsquanch6969 I agree. Hummer H1 had optional CTIS system and it didn't require sacrificing brakes when used but it was developed in year 1992.
@@Samsquanch6969 Central tyre pressure control system (I guess it was called so :) was an important feature for all soviet offroad trucks (army requirement). With tractor type wheels (high, but narrow), installed from the factory, these trucks are pretty capable offroaders even nowadays)
"Don't try this at home."
Aw 😢 *puts my 10 kg of dynamite back in the cupboard 😂
i just replaced the brake shoes in my truck yesterday. This technique for removing stuck brake drums would have saved me some time. Thanks for the tip!
That has gone through the mind of everyone that has ever had a stuck drum.
Yup, sounds like an old school soviet truck. Half of it is made of asbestos, you lose brakes if you use windshield wipers too much, and an anti-tank mine won't hurt it as much as you would think.
"You would definitely shit yourself, and would never hear anything again, and probably get horrifying injuries, but yeah." I laughed so hard at that casual analysis.
As a retired military healthcare professional, sitting in the cab of the truck would have been serious, if not fatal. Probably broken legs, spine injury, TBI, pulmonary barotrauma.
"If you are in a minefield, reverse." Great advise in general. Also perhaps consider what steps you took in life lead you to being stuck with your truck in a minefield.
Like allowing an autocrat dictator kinda like putler to RUN the show.
I see your thinking but it's something of a dice roll on whether or not you're born in a country with national service.
There are some things I'd drive through a minefield to avoid
Generally they don't advertise that there are landmines.
As engineers in FDF we had this exercise where we would put a wall of sandbags with a shooting port and viewhole on the back of a Sisu truck and we reverse along a road and spot and shoot mines (clay pidgeons is what we used)
this is more meant to clear like scatter mines that just lay on the ground but just tought about it when talking about reversing into a minefield :D
"Don't use the windscreen wipers too much or the brakes won't work" 😅 So you can decide between crashing into something that you can see because you can't brake or crashing into something that you can't see because you didn't brake. Brilliant design.
Combining my vast knowledge of cars (I have seen all the classic Top Gear episodes) and this, I conclude that if you did this with an old Toyota Hilux, it would still be driveable.
"Traditional Finnish dynamite hole" 😂🤣 It should be holiday brochures "Come and see the Northern holes and pet a reindeer"

Just the fact that the doors on the cab of the truck still open and close is impressive.
It´s American/Soviet engineering that dates back to the early 1940s. I travelled a lot on these during natioal service. Stupefying fuel consumption and the reek of unburnt petrol. They were nicnamed Zilton.
@@petemommo9622 oh thanks!
Those doors wouldn’t be so great if Micheal Caine was on the job.😂😂
@@petemommo9622 american? It's soviet engineering at its finest. Nothing murican about it.
@@user-ki4llalm6kr A great many soviet designs are just copies of western or otherwise foreign stuff.
I drove mine-protected Trucks in the Swedish army, the A-pillar swallowed an entire truck from your viewpoint in a roundabout... Seeing how a mine affected them (it didn't) the difference in this is amazing.
"You would definitely shit yourself, and would never hear anything again." 🤣
The most baffling thing to me is how doesn’t he have 1 million subscribers to this channel yet.
it's an ofshoot, it takes a while longer.
This cannel isn`t allowed in ruzzia !
During the Vietnam War my uncle drove a 5 ton M62 wrecker, that was his job. When his column was going between the cities of Da Nang and Dong Ha the column found a large mine. His truck was the most expendable in the column so they had him back up to the mine until it detonated. He told me it picked the back of the truck up and blew the outboard rear axle off the truck, but since it was a 6 wheel drive, he was able to get it back to the motorpool. What angered him the most was he spent the weekend that he should have been on leave fixing the truck and getting it back in service. He loved that truck, named it "No Slack".
Sounds pretty similar end result as with this one. Thanks for a interesting story!
Man if someone had a grenade he could have had his leave
straight out of a movie ^^ ha
That's pretty rude. Not only did they put his life in jeopardy, they canned his leave~
Convenient and edited. CZcams comment bs 😂
Really nice video, glad to see bigger stuff coming back to this channel!
We have many more filmed during the last summer so lot of stuff still coming

You Cans aren't so bad either

This was a really cool video, it was nice to hear a rundown of the truck from someone with professional experience. They're definitely not luxury vehicles, but those ZILs are insanely reliable and capable vehicles.
Any running vehicle can be luxury if you treat it right
Not sure about the reliable part.. but repairable, sure.
ZILs may be capable but even a millionare starts to sweat when they see how much fuel it uses for leaving the driveway alone
@@someguyfromfinland4239 Fuel consumption probably halves when a Finnish mechanic puts a new carb and some other bits in it that are actually sane.
@@benbaselet2026 I'd really want to see that, or even an injection. What can you get out of this by using modern optimized technology
'The party is gonna be over."
Wtf I really got a good laugh out of that man. Thanks. I love the way you word things sometimes
This truck is very similar to the old US military deuce and a half, I met a veteran whose truck was damaged by a similar explosion. Took out the driver's side steer tire and destroyed the engine. Everyone survived and the truck was repaired and put back in service.
8:48 I like how the door sticker peels off and comes back as if nothing happened.
That blast wave shot is incredible. Great video!
amazing. this is exactly the type of science every single man loves.
"Shit yourself and never hear anything again"
One of the funniest things I've heard all week.
"you would definitely shit yourself and never hear anything again" 🤣🤣🤣
What a legend, love your work!
My friend has one of these in the UK...think it has a Leyland daf engine conversion but, more interesting is the fact it has an entire Ruzzian communications interception jamming rig still on the back.
He's not really dared do much with the jamming gear though...can't think why
😅
One would be in very, very deep shit with a whole plethora of all kinds of government breaking down your door and demanding money and prison sentences for using that stuff here :)
@@benbaselet2026 sips tea....yup.
😂
Because he doesn't have the balls or the know how to even turn it on? Probably.
@@benbaselet2026Nah, they'd be amazed and ask for autographs
@@camojoe83 with regards to the balls...totally.
With regards to knowing how to turn it on...well, he's struggled with some of it...the obvious lack of documentation and the Russian language labelled kit being quite the challenge...but, he at least understands how to use it to tune into frequencies and listen.
Back in the day I accidentally tested how much pressure can ZIL tires take. Forgot the fill valve open when driving, tires got inflated to what ever the compressor puts out. Pressure gauge went off scale, tires didnt' explode.
As a disabled truck driving son, of a truck driving son, of a truck driver, I really appreciate the look inside and the explanation. I drove for 30 years myself and you've shown me quite well that truck driving is truck driving is truck driving, unless you're in India, but I'll leave this there.
US anti-tank mines during the 80’s had steel plates and shaped charges, not just a bunch of high explosives packed into a disc shaped container. I doubt it one of ours would have done any more damage in this case, but they were designed to blow the tracks of of tracked vehicles and damage the running gear, and hopefully penetrate the under belly of the tank as well, causing injury to the occupants.
You don't even need shaped charges to penetrate a lot of Russian vehicles, there's a lot of footage of T-72/T-90s and BMPs exploding into a fireball from regular or double stacked AT mines like this because the bottom of the hull on them is so thin and relatively close to the ground
I'm glad you told us it wasn't a working truck. I sorta hate to see vehicles distroyed that were working good.
Even more so now that I can't afford a vehicle and I'm a truck guy at heart. 🤣
Common practice is to drive high risk areas in reverse, when practical. An old guy once told me he did it in northern Africa in the 80s, driving a W50.
That door panel gap is still perfect.
Brother, I loved the BlendTec Blender reference!
If it was not intentional, watch the end of any Blendtec Blender video and compare it to the section of you guys walking towards the truck after the explosion.
Was making me giggle
Awesome video! Best second channel ever. Always love the videos.
These videos of yours are at the next level now. Keep up the great work!
I wish I had some suggestions, but you have advanced beyond my level
thank you for the video, hope you and the family are doing well! much love from across the pond!
You have some great ideas recently! It used to be that I was wondering if the channel is dying. Things are looking good though!
I was just too busy to do these bigger videos for couple years. I have way more ideas than time :D
Thank you, friend, as always GREAT CONTENT..💪👊💥
Suggestions: Explosive hydroforming of steel - test different steel vessel shapes to see what happens, shape charges, DIY molten copper projectiles
This is a good one.
08:54 "You would definitely sh*t yourself." 😆 Epic.
Very interesting Truck! In 🇺🇲 air pressure releases the brakes like you said. Older 🇺🇲 Trucks used air for the wiper blades not anymore though. There is a few older trucks that have air operated starters also to start the engine. I've never seen a truck that you can fill the tires with air pressure thats realy cool. It's really interesting too see how other countries make Trucks differently, I am a Truck mechanic maybe that's why its so interesting too me. Great Video! 👍🏻
ZIL 131… had those there when I did my varusmiespalvelu in 1991/92. Incredible trucks! Greetings Kalle from Australia
Wow, the blast wave rippeling the door skin. Awesome.
Who would have thought that filling a cookie tin with raw breakfast sausage would do so much damage 😂😂
I've driven one of these in MudRunner so I'm pretty much an expert I'd say.
Good experiment. Top video.
Super cool! Subscribed!!
You guys are funny in the most positive way - I like you guys.
I was just about to try this at home, so it's a good job you told me not too, my mum would have been really pissed.
I want one of those trucks so bad.
How did the glass not break???!!!???? LoL great video.
good stuff, thanks Lauri :)
More stuff like this please.
Wr also use them in the Cyprus National Guard sometimes as well, but rarely. So fun to be around and learn about! This brought back memories!!
Cool. Thanks.
Such a beautiful truck.... I would have loved driving it. In fact, it's a dream of mine to convert one of those military AWD trucks to an electrical one, give the drive train the torque it deserves...

I had a good lauch with your expalnation of the truck and your comment on the explosion!! This was a great video!
You should repair the truck and have some fun with it! It looks indestructible, lol!
Sell it to another CZcamsr for a collaboration. 50 episodes of the truck restoration to 1954 factory condition.
Land mines you really want to be in a SA made APC, because they were designed from the outset to have the crew survive a mine blast, and in a lot of cases you could sort of drive it as well after, though you might be missing a wheel or two while doing so. Having a blast diverter at the bottom, and thus moving the energy away, is very important, though this makes the vehicles rather top heavy. Friend went over a bridge side in one, he survived, but a few of the others did not.
Blowing things up…we have another great channel..
Beautiful truck boys!
I drive a Kenworth T900 fuel tankerso it’s pretty cool to see how this one operates. Thanks for that.

Yall out here doing shit no one else is and stuff everyone would like to watch. Well done
Wow you really undermined that truck!
Thank you all for your service ! Seeing this could really occur shows the courage and sacrifice all of servicemen have.
What are you talking about?
I think he doesn’t realise they have national service in Finland. Just about everyone (men only I think) has been in the army for a bit.
I know Finland has compulsory military service. Actually women can do it too by choice and men can do some kind of alternative civilian service if they don't want to be in the army.
Anyway that doesn't really explain the "thanks for your service" comment. None of these guys have anything to do with the military and such a comment is neither necessary or appropriate to the video.
Always fun video!
You’re Finnish. You guys are the best Rally drivers in the world. Just drift around the mine
That was awesome! The slow motion of the partygoers in mid air.. LMAO
...I was wondering about that shifter lever, a blacksmith could do something cool with that.
(Thank you for the post, always appreciated.)
Another Great Video. The power of explosives is impressive, it gives me a new respect for our military. Thanks for the videos.
great video
That is a nice truck. If you ever get another one, I would love to see what it would look like if you cut off the back of it so you end up with a 4 wheel vehicle instead of a 6 wheel vehicle and turn it into a really big pick up truck :)
8:06 Gotta love the two boots flying out of the cloud...
The slow motion boots spinning in the air were a highlight for sure.
Awesome. 👍👍
Awesome video
Good breakdown of the damage but i would suggest for the future maybe some of those G-Force stickers or high impact labels that show if certain g-force threshold was passed. Then you would be able to know if it was survivable from different places, at least from a g-force perspective! That would be fantastic information.
03:50 In my understanding, only the parking brake in western trucks is spring loaded and kept open with air pressure, the normal brakes are still pushed together with air pressure.
awesome video
You are a madman🤩
Another great video, but still hard to beat the Tesla video🤣 Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with your new press.
4 tours in the Middle East in Iraq and Afghanistan, lost some friends to roadside bombs and have PTSD so I couldn't watch this one, but I really love the channel. I don't know if he used an EFP bomb or an older explosive bomb, but I can tell you from experience if he made/used an EFP they can tear through up armored vehicles like they were a wet paper bag.
just standard 10 kg of TNT no penetrator. This was simulating standard Finnish "track mine" that is just a disc of TNT and pressure fuse. Simulating Finnish "bottom mine" that has shaped charge would be more difficult.
@@jpm83 “just standard 10kg of TNT” haha what?! Im guessing you are one of his friends. Only a friend of his would casually talk about 10kg of dynamite! 😂😂 this channel has the biggest and most impressive explosions by a mile!
