  • Lauren Mulholland has survived two bouts with cancer which resulted in the removal of a kidney at age nine and a lung transplant at age 15. That is her medical history in the tightest of nutshells. For Lauren, it was the life after cancer or cancers that was the most difficult. The treatment for the cancers, the kidney removal and the transplant were all necessary to just stay alive in the moment and once this act of survival was accomplished the journey of life was able to truly begin. Her story of perseverance is inherent in her survival and her life today. Now 22, Lauren has graduated from Wildwood High School and is currently an undergraduate at Rowan University. Although all the repercussions of her illness ridden youth effect her on a day-to-day basis, Lauren pushes on and plans to graduate college and enter the working world.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event,
TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
