- Introducing The Western Reel! We hope you enjoy our representation of Irish dance through a country western lens. Our dancers from Western Canada got together at Stampede Park to kick up their heels in anticipation of this year’s Calgary Stampede.

HOLY COW! (I had to use that phrase. lol) I love these dances. They make such diffucult/complicated moves seem so incredibly simple. THAT'S how you know someone has talent. Taking a dance and making it look so easy that you think you can do it as well is true talent.
Some definite hours of work and practice there.. Great dancing.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this - Years ago I dreamt of having a group like this - a multi-school group that could perform at events much like the Calgary Fiddlers do. In my head I had even designed the outfits for dancing at the Stampede. :)

I'm part Irish too, on my Dad's side... it's the origin of the 'Garvin' part of my name.
My daughter (33) is with a lovely lad whose dad is Irish, and she took up Irish dancing a few years ago... in part as a form of exercise, but mainly because she loves the Irish, she loves the culture, and she loves Irish dance and music... all of which she got from me.
