Dawless piece on the Digitakt.
No sequencer was used for this, instead it is just playing 8 unsynced loops of different lengths ranging from a couple of seconds to nearly a minute allowing them to ebb and swell around each other creating new melodies each time. this is then going through the Eventide Blackhole for a bit of reverb.
To create the samples I used Lo-ki felt piano by Sonuscore, the software version of Roland's Juno 60 and Spitfire Audio's violin evolutions.

Has there been actual tape involved in the process?
Yeah, all the piano bits were recorded out onto cassette then recorded back into Logic and chopped up before exporting to the Digitakt.

Lovely. Did you make the loops directly in the Digitakt of did you make it before on your computer (to avoid the clicks caused by the lack of crossfading in de Digitakt) ? Anf if so, which software did you use to create those "clean" loops ? Thanks a lot.
Hi there, yeah I very rarely create the loops directly in the Digitakt and usually create a digital “demo version” of how I want the track to go in Logic first before I then perform it on the Digitakt. With this particular piece I recorded each loop in Logic then recorded them out to tape and then back into Logic to give it that Lofi feel, I then exported each loop to the Digitakt. As to the clicks, with this project all the loops consisted of a couple of notes or a phrase being played followed by silence to create a break before playing again. By making a loop point during the silence you will not get the clicks. Hope that helps! 🙂
