As M makes her wish, the music paired with the imagery of both of them as an elderly couple really brings a bittersweet feel to it.
On one hand, it's happy to imagine that they both could still be happy together many, many years later. But on the other, there's the implied truth that they might not have as much time left when they get that old. It's kind of sad, but there's a comforting feeling behind it because you know that their lives leading up to that moment was filled with happy memories. Also, I like how M wishes that Garfield will still be with them, even when they grow old.
