Navy Blue is dope. Caught onto him a few years back and have been a fan since.
Nice, I think I picked 2 songs that highlighted the similarities between hip hop and the kind of music you seem to like more. That gbv song is a real intimate and venerable lofi little 2 minute gem. This track is like an east coast hip hop version of that. It’s like a modernist version of an Elliot smith track to me. The beat is soft and warm, and the lyrics are delivered just above a whisper. I don’t think there’s a huge difference between genres for me, which may or may not be a dumb idea. I think of music like paintings. It’s all just shapes and colors and textures. You can look at paintings of a particular thing by all kinds of different artists in different styles, and they all still feel not that far apart from each other. An image done in a cubist style could still have a similar effect as one done in an impressionist style. It’s paint on a canvas made into shapes, or its notes and words being recorded, basically all just the same shit.
It’s actually west coast music cause he’s from California
