- This tutorial from PotomacBeads demonstrates how to use various seed beads to do peyote stitch. Peyote stitch is a bead weaving concept which allows beads to be laid in various patterns with needle and thread. You can use various sizes of beads including delicas, 6/0, 8/0, 11/0, 15/0, triangles, cubes, and more. This is also a useful class to learn for many other seed beading or beadweaving classes, including seed bead toggles, circular peyote, embellishing, diagonal peyote, hollow peyote, maga-scale bracelet, and more!

Finally a competent bead crafter. This is how I was tought years ago.
Hello there! We have a variety of videos showing different stitches. Please feel free to browse! www.potomacbeads.com/basic-beadweaving-stitches
Soo easy to follow. I understand it mentally now let’s see if I can do it physically. Thanks so much.😊
You can do it! The main thing is to not give up!
I have watched so many videos to learn the peyote stitch and was ready to give up, that is until I watched this video. I watched it only 2 times and now I can do what I have been told was an easy stitch, but I found difficult to do. Thank you for putting this video together for all us beginners.
Thank you! You did such a great and understandable presentation of a peyote stitch
Glad it was helpful!
Ahhh I finally came across the beautiful face to put with the voice I hear! I LOVE your videos, they're the most informative and easy to follow. I have started beading in just recent weeks and because of you I have been very proud of some of the things I have accomplished! Thank you for sharing your time and talent with all of us, it's greatly appreciated ;)
I finally see what u look like with this video, pretty you have taught me many projects great job keep it up
thanks for your lesson, enjoyed and feel confident in trying this technique ...
Thank you so much your tutorial is the easiest to understand and fallow.
You made this look so easy. I am ready to try now. Thanks.
Loved it! I have a book w/instructions, but this is sooo much easier! Ty
Thanks Allie great tutorial!
Thanks Claire.
Ohhh que bueno enseñes este precioso arte mil gracias
Muchas gracias por mirar
You can tie on more thread. There is a video on our channel called "How to add thread to seed bead projects" that shows you how to do that.
Mil mil gracias
Thank you
Thanks Carmen, hope it was helpful to you.
Thank you for the tutorial. Although you chose different colored beads, the silver & gold were not different enough to see the contrast as you're teaching the stitch. Using more contrasting beads would make it easier to follow.
Hi Kathryn, with Peyote stitch, the colour of the beads isn't important when learning. Just ignore the colors and follow the beads. After you pick up your beads, you add a bead and link it to each alternate bead. This creates a row like bricks or a hopscotch. Once you master that first part, the rest is easy. Keep trying, you will get it! 😃
Watch this one, it might help you. czcams.com/video/SoLOD9vT4QI/video.html
@@PotomacbeadcoIt is important, so that the beads end up in the right position.
wow i have been doing it wrong thanks so much.
I love this design, even though you have said, what your using. How many your using isn't said. 23 or 27 of each? Could you tell me how many of the beads you're using, please?
Much clearer than the previous instruction I viewed--not by your company. But how does one finish off?
There are dozens of different ways to finish peyote patterns, and there are a number of different tutorials on our channel. The easiest is to link to a sliding bar clasp.

Hello will the cube beads work well with tubular Peyote Stitch projects ?
the video is great, but would like a printable step by step. have a small jewelry business, and im a beginner, it looks like so much fun and easy, but it just doesnt look right, help plz
Hi. Does it matter what weight the thread is? You make this sound so easy. I have never heard anyone explain this like you do.
Thank you so very much,
Barbara
Barbara Wells We primarily use Wildfire, which is available in .006 and .008. You can use them interchangeably most of the time. It may matter if the beads you are using are very large/heavy, or are very tiny (15/0), but most of the time it does not.
Thank you so very much
Can you use this also? Beading Thread SUPERLON
Possibly,if you use the right thickness, wax it, etc., but you would be much better off just starting with Wildfire.
Can you use monofilament illusion cord instead of fire line? That is all I have, and also can you use round seed beads instead of cubed?
Hi Mary, preferably, the beads need to have straight sides. In this case, the Miyuki Cubes are all the same size so they fit perfectly together. You can also use Miyuki Delicas which come in two main sizes, 11/0 and 8/0. The bigger ones are the 8/0.
With regards to the thread, it needs to be much softer than nylon monofilament, because the thread paths have to make fine turns without leaving any gaps between the beads. Toho One-G thread is great for Peyote, so is Miyuki thread.
@@Potomacbeadco Thank you so much for the info. I really want to try this out so I was going to jump the gun and use what I had. But I will wait because I want it to last along time. They look so pretty when finished that I want to use the right materials. 🤗💖
how do you finish this bracelet off
Hi Allie, I'm just starting bead weaving, ( been terrified to try the xl bead boxes I got) my question is how do you attach clasps?
czcams.com/video/vD7P4prZUFU/video.html
Hi. I have just started with seed beading. I've seen several peyote bracelets with a smaller seed bead border (or chain) up and down the sides of the bracelet. What is this called? Is there any way you could post a tutorial? Thank you. :)
It would just be called a picot trim,or edging. There are a few different ways of doing something like that:

Are round 11/0 seed beads ok to use instead of the cube ones
Yes you can do peyote with nearly anything. It will just have a different look with different beads.
Thanks for this lesson! By the way, it's *taut*, not "taunt".
Thank you for watching!
Peyote stitch
What do you if your thread is over and your bracelet isnt done yet?
What is the difference between even and odd stitch?
Even count has an even number of rows (6,8,10,12), odd count has an odd number of rows (5,7,9,11). The technique is different. You can also find an odd count tutorial on our channel.
I have no idea what beads u are using- what is a cue bead?
We were using Miyuki Cube beads, maybe that is what you mean?
How can I end this for a class if I have a row of six?
Here are a couple of our tutorials and ways to end peyote www.youtube.com/@Potomacbeadco/search?query=ending%20peyote%20
Hi. Are miyuki and toho beads the same thing?
Barbara Wells No they are two different brands of seed beads, both manufactured in Japan.
Thank you
The only thing about this video is that the colours are hard for me to distinguish at the beginning of the second row.
Hello there! Here is another Peyote Stitch video that may be easier to follow! czcams.com/video/eHEmbuoneiM/video.html
Why doesn't anyone ever show finishing the ends?
This is a video teaching the stitch itself, rather than a finished project. We have hundreds of videos on this channel that show how to add ends, including a variety of peyote videos here:
czcams.com/users/Potomacbeadcosearch?query=peyote
You can also find with a search techniques for adding clasps or buttons:
czcams.com/users/Potomacbeadcosearch?query=add+clasp
A diagrams would be easier to see
It is really hard to distinguish the colors and see what you are doing. If I were you I would use contrasting colors and even larger beads vor visibility.
Thank you so much for this feedback
Scared the crap outta me! I turned it way up to hear and then the volume shot up!
Why square beads
It is just the type of bead we had chosen for this design!
My God lady slow down !!! Some of us don't know what we're doing yet !
I like your voice and the way you speak but could you slow down a little for us in South ? Throw a few pauses in there to give us time to straighten everything out and pick up another bead. Thank you !!
I have to leave you, I know one person probably doesn't matter much but I've noticed several comments about rewatching. you go so fast I can't even follow without rewinding rewinding rewinding. It's so frustrating. I'll go back to jill, peyote for dummies
You can adjust the speed on your youtube playback.
@@Potomacbeadco ok I got it mastered, I'm sorry I did have to learn from Jill, but I respect you and appreciate all the work it takes to make one, it's not your fault, I have severe dyslexia and I'm sure that's why.
