  • This tutorial from PotomacBeads demonstrates how to use various seed beads to do peyote stitch. Peyote stitch is a bead weaving concept which allows beads to be laid in various patterns with needle and thread. You can use various sizes of beads including delicas, 6/0, 8/0, 11/0, 15/0, triangles, cubes, and more. This is also a useful class to learn for many other seed beading or beadweaving classes, including seed bead toggles, circular peyote, embellishing, diagonal peyote, hollow peyote, maga-scale bracelet, and more!

    I have watched so many videos to learn the peyote stitch and was ready to give up, that is until I watched this video. I watched it only 2 times and now I can do what I have been told was an easy stitch, but I found difficult to do. Thank you for putting this video together for all us beginners.

    Thank you for the tutorial. Although you chose different colored beads, the silver & gold were not different enough to see the contrast as you're teaching the stitch. Using more contrasting beads would make it easier to follow.

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  Před 5 lety

      Hi Kathryn, with Peyote stitch, the colour of the beads isn't important when learning. Just ignore the colors and follow the beads. After you pick up your beads, you add a bead and link it to each alternate bead. This creates a row like bricks or a hopscotch. Once you master that first part, the rest is easy. Keep trying, you will get it! 😃

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  Před 9 lety

      Barbara Wells We primarily use Wildfire, which is available in .006 and .008. You can use them interchangeably most of the time. It may matter if the beads you are using are very large/heavy, or are very tiny (15/0), but most of the time it does not.

    Can you use monofilament illusion cord instead of fire line? That is all I have, and also can you use round seed beads instead of cubed?

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Mary, preferably, the beads need to have straight sides. In this case, the Miyuki Cubes are all the same size so they fit perfectly together. You can also use Miyuki Delicas which come in two main sizes, 11/0 and 8/0. The bigger ones are the 8/0.
      With regards to the thread, it needs to be much softer than nylon monofilament, because the thread paths have to make fine turns without leaving any gaps between the beads. Toho One-G thread is great for Peyote, so is Miyuki thread.
