Are these Kanuri people? I wanted to learn more because I had my DNA done. It came back as the Kanuri tribe located in Northern Nigeria. I was told this group of people migrated from the east. I want to learn more.

They make up the dominant population of Bornu state in northeastern Nigeria. As you can see from the video, they are black-skin and anything but liberal. They are extreme Muslims with little to no tolerance especially when it comes to the women in their society. I don't think that they've always been like that. One thing I know is that there were multiple Arab Islamic invasions in several regions of Africa in the mid-7th century and a lot of the people were forced to adopt Islam and those who refused were either enslaved or killed. The sad and the most disturbing part is some, especially the men identify themselves as Arabs instead of their indigenous back African culture even though their ancestors existed long before the Arabs.

The Kanuris are farmers while the Shuwa Arabs who are closely linked with the Arabs are monadic pastoralists. Nigerians are funny people. Just like the Fulanis want to dominate the Hausas in the North using the Islamic religion so the Kanuris in Borno State want to dominate the Shuwa Arabs using religion!!!
