  • My old Toyota Forklift at work. It is a 1997 6 series with a 6 cylinder diesel engine with 16,292.5 hours on the original power train. The grid heater doesn't work so has no help when it comes to cold starting.
As long as I keep the 400 watt block heater plugged in, it will start at -30c without the need for starting fluid!
It is an old forklift, but it still gets the job done. Both tilt cylinders leak at the seals, the main lift cylinder in the centre of the mast leaks at the seal in the cold, the right steering seal leaks, my side shift quick connector leaks. The carriage is worn out so if I have a heavy lift fully tilted back, the load will actually lean forward slightly. There is also lots of play in all the levers. Half the hoses should be replaced.
In the past year, I have had 2 flat tires, replaced both batteries, replaced the starter, replaced the water pump, main lift chain support bolt replaced as it snapped, replaced parking brake cable.
It does have 2 forwards gears which I use quite a bit in my yard.
