You are correct. I just started watching old episodes on TNT and then it's over. I love all the shows I've seen, so I'm so sad there won't be a season 9. Stana will be on Agents of Shield or so I read.
Even if beckett a captain for 2-3 more season theres much2 more homicide yet personal stories that they can create. Clearly them having children the very end of final episode is the simple way to make the endings. Otherwise we never know what will happen to both of them after getting shot until the new season starts......

In the late 80's, there was a show called "My Two Dads" where two middle aged men took custody of a teenage girl

She was upset because earlier her dad asked her if she took drugs (case related so he just started thinking about that. No actual signs she was.)
He told her if she was she can tell him. If she does anything bad she is safe to tell him. Didn't want her to feel like she had to hide anything from him. She said she didn't.
Here she was crying because she did something "bad". She jumped the turnstile to catch the subway. Meaning she didn't pay for the ride. She was crying because she was upset with herself that she didn't tell him when he asked. Felt liked she lied to him when he was so concerned and adamant she was safe to tell him anything.
But of course he wasn't mad because that's not something he considers "bad". Especially at that time of night.
She told him she paid twice the next day but didn't ride to make up for it.
But ya she was crying because she was upset with herself.
