The best comment on the show I've seen is this:
"Arya went west, Jon went north, Drogon went east and the show went south".
It will be house Johnson in a generation or two..
the show went south! great play on words there - not sure it was intentional
😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
Okay, as someone who actually liked this season and finale, this if friggin fabulous

We learned early on that Bran was a good “climber”. How convenient it turns out that
“Chaos is a ladder.”
Maybe he is the Night's King after all :)
@@bdube7146 Dick move but still.... He did put the right people to build the country after the wars ( many of which he could not affect)
Having that council he has .... ufff... that is a strong base for a country
Making Westeros Great Again
@@tomasvrabec1845 I hope you're joking. That council is awful. Sam is incredibly under qualified to be grand Maetser. He has one link in his chain. No matter how likable he is he just doesn't have the knowledge to be a good Grand Maester. Davos is a well spoken former pirate, he doesn't really have much knowledge of building or running a fleet. Better off using a surviving Redwyne or Greyjoy. Bronn is fucking Bronn.

Littlefinger: Chaos is a ladder
Bran: Chaos is a ramp!

I enjoyed this comment far more than I should have. Well said, sir. Well said!
😂😂😂😂😂
A very winding ramp to the top. Lol!
It was a straight up elevator.
Dany: Breaks the wheel
Drogon: Destroys the throne
Bran: "That's OK. I brought my own."
A wheelchair throne. No one else could've snubbed them like that, lol.
Dude, I’m the true king. Look, I take my throne with me.
Asha2820 and you can’t even think of your own lines
Yes. I've e seen this bullshit so many times on different GOT videos. You're a thumb whore. Pathetic.
Arya Stark sailed to New York and her line ended with Tony Stark after the battle with Thanos.
Well technically with Tony Starks daughter, Morgan Stark. But lovely head canon. A+++
Starks across all timelines are brave and trustworthy.

Love this idea. Thank you 😊
It's a shame Jamie and Cersei stood in that one little spot where the half dozen small bricks killed them. They were so close to survival...
Always stand underneath arches and doorways when there's an earthquake. Every school kid knows that.
Cersei probably would have survived but remember Jamie was badly wounded so he probably would have bled out while rowing Cersei to safety...
Dany jon scene should've been jaimes scene with cersi.
@@veetour I didn't thanks for the lesson.
The dragon skull could have saved a whole family too, cause it was intact!
After watching everyone get massacred and burnt to a crisp
Arya: "I know a killer when I see one"

Captain obvious
lol i was thinking that
I wonder if she hit her head so badly that she forgot her horse and now just states the obvious.
The sandor effect
If Jon becomes the new King Beyond the Wall, then the Starks are effectively ruling all of Westeros with Queen Sansa and King Bran over the North and King's Landing respectively.
and Arya ruling whatever she finds
There's still time in sequels...Jon is still the chosen one...
I don’t think there’s a king beyond the wall anymore. Mance had united all the free folk because of the threat of the white walkers. Now there’s no longer a threat so they wouldn’t accept a king.
Plus, Arya sails off with the wolf sigil on the sail. Wherever she goes... what will she do there? Starks for the win. Targaryens lose. Dany was a fabulous character, but... I was happy to see her go.
@@ellenjones8695 does it now?
Bran: I will be King of the Seven Kingdoms
Sansa: The North declares its independence lol
Bran: Fine, I’ll be King of the Six Kingdoms
Everyone: Wait? That was an option?
My thoughts exactly! Bran is the worse character in the entire series! I was yelling at the screen with they started talking about making him the king!! He saw, past , present and future, but did nothing but manipulate events so in the end he would be the king! Immoral and highly evil just like some of the other characters in this series who desired to sit on the iron throne! "Why do you think I came all this way". He will be the worse king ever!!
Godot who is going to fight with their older sister. But Sansa had the North’s back and right deserves to be independent
@@kwa6516 He is evil in the books I bet, another twist in the story. If he knew he was going to be named King then he let it all happen so he could climb the chaos ladder.
You can know the future without knowing the events that create that outcome...if that is the case and Bran saw what Dany was going to do but not the string of events that lead to it...then attempting to manipulate those events could end up being the cause of them...Bran isn’t omnipotent he has visions of the future and let’s things play out because that is the only thing he can do.
No way the north leaves and Dorne stays. Ridiculous.
You have made the experience of game of thrones so much better by your videos. Thank you for your effort and time you put into them!!!!
Well said.
@@davidf2676 Then how did you become so invested in a show run by two such people who did not **ever** (your word) put any effort into it? Or could it be they did an excellent job of what they started out to do - adapt a story for TV - and drew you and me and many others in because they were doing such an excellent job, but then naturally struggled when they ran out of source material and found themselves having to do what even GRRM hasn't figured out how to do yet (and probably never will): get the story to where it is supposed to end without any hint as to how to get there.
As Sansa pointed out the North's memory led them to forget their loyalty to the Starks pretty quickly and then to forget their loyalty to the Boltons, and then to be ready to abandon Jon again so I suppose that is an appropriate phrase for people who are quick to forget previous good and only focus on current problems.
@@cwam1701e I agreed. GRRM just kinda...bailed out of writing. Evidently, his penultimate book is still nowhere to be seen.
I also expected Brianne to correct the record regarding Jamie's killing of the Mad King.
If only they had white ink back then.
Tyrion: you are the shields that protects the real of men
Jon: my watch ended in season 6 Bro
Love the Detective Drogon meme going around.
Drogon looking at Daenarys: *hmm.... pointy thing sticking out
Looks at iron throne: *Also *POINTY*!

I like Drogon. He knows that it's the Iron Throne that killed her mother. He doesn't give a fuck about Jon. He didn't kill her. The pursuit for power did.

A few seasons ago we learned that some people think dragons a cleverer than humans. They must be right
Actually, Arya DID mention going "West of Westeros" in Season 6, in a conversation with the actress she was instructed to kill.
Of course she did. It was front of my mind that she’d end up travelling there.
Allusions to that are also in " The world of Ice and Fire".
@Tara Thralls
Yep - Lady Crane. The actress who Arya was contracted to kill but decided not to and The Waif slashed Arya's guts up. Lady Crane patched Arya's guts up and The Waif killed Lady Crane before chasing an impossibly gut-slashed Arya across Bravos.
@victor bruun elissa farman allready did that some say she even sailed to essos from westeros so ya. there are 3 small Islands with fruits and stuff south west of loney light
Foreshadowing isn’t character development. That’s why this line was forgotten and Arya’s ending seems out of character.
"Her looks..?" HER CHILDREN! She lost her children. Duh!!
Yeah he really lost the plot there.
She lost her mind to a frog at the age of ten.
@@bakoyma Wow. Jaime was a reflection of herself. Her twin. Her children by her twin were a reflection of herself. A true and extremely problematic narcissist. Thank you, Bakoyma for your contribution.
BakoymaTravels Tywin was never king, how could she be his heir? Her children were heirs because they were supposed to be Robert Baratheons. However when Ned discovered they were Jamies, he began searching for them because even if they were bastards, they were his true heirs above Jamies. That was the reason cercei had searched for and mudreded all of them and why the last remaining son had to flee. Also why the hand of the king had been killed, because he also discovered the truth. Even though she was a woman she still took the throne after her kids got killed. The passing down to the male sons has nothing to do with gender, but blood! Children get their blood from their fathers, therefore the only way to keep the kingdom within the family line was to go down its male heirs. As daughters have their fathers blood, but her children will not.
In the books Cersei was extremely self-conscious about aging. She barely gave much thought about her children. That might be what he was thinking about.
Chief weels chair pusher....you made it Podrick, so happy for you pal.
Yeah... Protecting the king is kind of a bullshit medieval gig
At least he got knighted.
Jon's character arc mirrors real life - good people sacrificing themselves over and over, never getting recognition for it, never expecting it, however still noble no matter what or where. They are the true heroes and can live with themselves anywhere.
Thankfully for him ( and it is possible someone else knew it as well ... maybe Tyrion)
Nights watch is the second best ending Jon could have got.... first one being completely freed
He Gets to be beyond the wall with his Wolf and friend
as a commander on Nights watch.... a group of people That have No One To Fight Against but to train the thrown outs of society to be better people.
In a place that was shown to get warmer,,, there literally was a scene ( a purposeful one not just a mistake) of a grass like plant growing beyond the wall.... where nothing but trees... ever grows,
So he gets to spend his life at a place he likes, a place that is getting warmer and thus easier to be in, with his pet and friends helping those who are broken like he was one day. :D I think that is better for thim than being the king or even Lord of a House ( He didnt want to be one)
@@tomasvrabec1845 I was thinking back on Cersei's line "When you play the Game of Thrones, you win or you die" and it's been true, the only one who didn't die and was a contender was Jon, who didn't play the Game of Thrones. I thought it was awful that he wasn't free to choose his fate, he still would have probably ended at the same place, but he would have been free in that choice. So sad. It was only bitter this ending. Masterminds Sansa and Bran were the only ones wearing crowns at the end.
He was getting recognition, he "just dohnt waant it"
@Hate Spreader Your name! rotfl Did you change it after the finale? I should change mine to "Sansa sucks", lol
@Hate Spreader More like Mao than Hitler, but I suppose Hitler is the main dictator that gets taught in schools.
Sansa: The North will never kneel to Bran Stark but they will kneel to Sansa Stark.
Grey Worm: Jon, I sentence you to the wall! I trust you to stay there (all by yourself) while I free Naath.
Brienne: Sorry Sansa! There is an opening for Lord Commander. I must breath my oath.
Tyrion: We been killing millions of civilians in 25 wars. Their quality of life will greatly improve if we build a new sewage system.
Everyone: The Iron throne is burned. If only we could find a king with his own chair...
Bran: Why yall think I'm here?
WTF just happened...
Bran: This dwarf was one the worse things that ever happened to Daenerys, his counsel was the cause for great loses for her, he's perfect for being the hand!
It's also established that the Night's Watch is still a thing, but Sam forsakes his vows and becomes Grand Maester at King's Landing.

Hey Robert
I wanted to thank you for your coverage and videos. The internet can be such a confused, irrational, and even hostile place for fandoms to exist, but your videos are always calm in their delivery, methodical and logical in their approach and erudite in their expression. I love your videos, and look forward to your Tolkien series, as well as whatever you put out when George releases the next book

More Westworld content coming soon too I hope!
Absolutely agreed. I simply cannot understand why everyone gets so angry all the time over the smallest things. Yours and Robert’s voices are some of the few islands of reason and friendly discourse in a sea of rudeness, hyperbole and toxicity. Thank you.
This is the only GoT channel I'm watching since the end. All the other channels are spazzing out, yelling and whining. I don't wanna hear that nonsense. I prefer a calm, concise, rational opinion and breakdown. Thanks Robert! You rock, brother! 🤘😎

Yours is the most enlightened and in depth objective review of GOT I've yet to listen to. Bravo, and thank you for not being one of those shallow minded reviewers who had nothing good to say about this last season of an excellent series.

My favorite GOT videos. Thank you for years of thoughtful discussion and analysis!
You probably noticed, maybe you're saving it for your Bran video later in the week, but the sigil on Briennes armour is a raven, not a wolf for house Stark.
Another indication that Bran isn't Bran anymore, and the three eyed Raven is ruler of the kingdom 😊
And, also, I thought the implication was that the 3-eyed Raven didn't necessarily live a "normal" lifespan. What if Bran can be king for decades or centuries longer than an average human?!
@@ericakane4327 yes, indeed, though he's still young anyway, so I'd have expected him to have a long reign regardless 😊
Bran allowed Dany to burn down the city so they could rebuild it to be Westerosi with Disabilities Act compliant!

Bran the Builder, building wheelchair friendly ramps throughout westerosi
Nice reddit repost.
🤣
Bran already foresaw everything that would happen, including Dany roasting about 100,000 civilians. But he saw that in the end that would lead to her downfall and him being chosen king. So he never told anyone and let it happen. Good guy, and wonderful king, our Bran.
Beautifully articulated Robert. I would just like to thank you for all your videos on everything GoT over the years. I’ve loved your calm approach and thorough thought process and reasoning, it’s been exceptionally refreshing in an otherwise sea of hype/over-dramatics. It has truly been a pleasure to listen to you.

@@Hans_Moleman_ I decided today was the day I would watch videos and read reviews of the series finale and last season. I commented elsewhere in this thread.... has ANYONE been watching the show longer than the last two seasons? This season made no sense. The acting, directing, cinematography, effects and production were all superb. I have not seen writing this... writing this contradictory and inconsistent with itself.... maybe EVER. How to get a job in Westeros? By not wanting it. 😆
Power corrupts those that seek it. Wisdom is the single most important trait of a leader.
Don't send your resumè, don't go to the interview!😂
I'll keep that in mind at my next interview.
I will never understand this "not wanting the Throne" makes someone a good king. I would not hire anyone who doesn't want the job. Robert and Ned didn't want it. See how well they turned out
As a guy in westeros you either die in a battle or....... Nope that's, it... 😁

As a part of Night Watch....The Lord Commander.... Nights watch that has no one to fight against but to act as diplomats between the clans... well clan it seems the is just one big clan at the end.

Can't say I'm a fan of the symbolism of King Bran. He's essentially an omniscient supercomputer, so a contemporary analogy would be the stuff of dystopian nightmares.
Sounds like black mirror
hmmm.. coincidence? nah.
Bran the builder 2.0: Bran the broken.
It would be worse if Bran can actually see the future as well (which has at least been theorised) because then he would lose all agency in governing Westeros. If he saw that a war was coming and he could do something to prevent it, but knew the future dictated he did nothing, he would leave everyone to die.
Bran knows what weird porn you’re into
I have absolutely loved Dany’s journey, both in the novels and on the show. For the show in particular, it was always a question of what would she do with that much power and strength behind her? When she was at her strongest in victory-outsmarting the masters to gain control of the Unsullied, it was all Dany. While she had good and faithful advisors, she devised her own plan and won-with fire and blood. When she faced rape and murder from the khals, no one advised or helped her-she devised her own plan and killed them all-with fire and blood. We cheered these victories because she freed slaves, saved women from oppression and wiped out horrible men. She was also quick to judgment when she ordered the crucification of the slavers which we forgave as slavers are no one to root for. Every victory she had, was won with fire and blood. She was literally following in Aegon’s footsteps, not her father’s. While, people say she was “mad”. I disagree. Aerys was, indeed, crazy. He was paranoid to the point of locking up his wife and believing everyone was against him BEFORE they were. Dany wasn’t paranoid. She really WAS being betrayed, by almost everyone she trusted. It was emphasized over and over that the dragons were her children. With each of their losses, she lost something of herself. With the death of her most faithful advisor (Jorah), she lost an anchor. With the death of Messendei, she lost her best friend, with the loss of Jon, she lost the love of the only man SHE chose and fell in love with. She was broken and held entirely too much power in her grip, which is the point of Game of Thrones-the corruption of power and the heart in conflict with itself. Emelia Clarke did an excellent job of showing that conflict as she sat there, shaking and tearful, hurting, broken and filled with fury. While I wish they would have shown us more to see her come to this-(I don’t feel one scene of seeing her grieving, hair unkept and not eating was enough), I certainly see how she got here even as disappointing as it was. Maybe not all fans understood that Dany walked an edge of compassion and fire and blood but I did and for me, it makes her one of the most interesting characters in fiction.
Can't say I agree with all your perspectives but nevertheless, thank you Robert for rationality during Season 8. More so for all things GoT.
I’m mourning GoT coming to an end for so many reasons.

Thank you for looking at the narrative and not just bashing it. YES they rushed this season and the story, but where they ended up was the only place this show could end. This was not a story about a Conqueror (Dany) winning the throne by force. This was not the story of a secret prince (Jon) winning back his throne. Dany broke the wheel, but there was no place in her new world for a Conqueror. Her life was story was tragic, and she would only find peace in death. And Jon didn’t want a throne or titles and land, he always wanted the freedom he had north of the wall. I thought it was obvious that his last look back was a farewell to the wall and everything south of it, that he would go north with Tormund and never go back, but some people don’t agree. But he sacrificed everything, both of the women he loved, even his life, and it was time for him to find his peace. Brand being king makes sense for all the reasons Tyrion listed. I think had they taken their time to flesh out these ideas people would be satisfied, but this was the ending Grr Martin always intended, not in every detail, but thematically.
So you figure Bran pulled a Doctor Strange and "allowed" the GoT endgame to play out the one way he'd foreseen?

Pretty funny how the one person with all the information to prevent mass destruction and chose not to use it, is the one to end up with the crown on his head. Sure, Bran "you don't want the crown." You just know that is what you have to say to get them to give it to you. =_=

Tyrion not being mentioned in A Song of Ice and Fire is a reference to Varys' line from S2E10 after the battle of the Blackwater "the king won't give you any honours, the histories won't mention you, but we will not forget."
I get the reference but it’s stupid considering how important of a player he ended up being. He’s the hand to three separate monarchs, he needs to be mentioned.
I think that was just a joke, Tyrion occupied important charges through the series, hell even being the man who killed Tywin Lannister should gain him some space in that book.
Great breakdown, as always. Here are just two points I want to mention:
1. I do believe that Drogon melted the Iron Throne on purpose. We've always been told that dragons are incredibly intelligent and insightful, so it wouldn't be much of a stretch to claim that Drogon realized, in that moment, what the throne had cost him: first his two brothers and now his mother. Thus, he destroyed the throne that had cost him everything.
2. Arya did mention the dream of traveling "west of Westeros," in season 6 episode 8. You can see the scene here: czcams.com/video/7h2B6roXenQ/video.html
And John told Tormund, as they were saying goodbye in Winterfell, that he would much rather go north with them. Beyond the wall I suppose he is the new Mance Ryder in a way as they already see him as a king(ly person). Lots of frolicking in the caves with a free folk woman, telling stories by the fire with his true friends, and on top of that he gets to turn loads of bastards and broken people into honourable warriors and rangers.
We got no flashbacks from Bran at all this season
It seems they cant handle flashback
Right?!?! I was hoping to see ned again
@@jcason6295 they couldn't get him back, it is what it is, when you mix fantasy with the real world, there is a reason it's called a fantasy, it couldn't possibly exist. I'm sure if they could, they would have.
They only needed a young version of Ned.
There are no flashbacks for a reason : Bran planed the whole thing, so he can become king.
Think about it. Did the Night King really try to kill Bran ? We see him come to Bran and reach for his weapon. What if he came to rescue Bran ? He was about to pull out his weapon and kneel before Bran, then Arya killed him. The Night King touched Bran, left him with a mark. But Bran was looking for the Night King in his visions, he wanted the Night King to touch him. What if Bran left an even stronger mark on the Night King ? The Night King smiled when Danny tried to burn him, that was actually Bran's smile, he was controlling the Night King at that moment.
Truth is the Night King became Bran's puppet, he was just a tool in Bran's plan to get the throne.
Aryia mentioned "whats west of westoros" when talking to Lady Crane. So there is history.
I could listen to you narrate a kids menu, that's how much I love your voice! Thank you for the great deep dives into the series as a whole, I look forward to what comes next!

Very nice summary! I would like to add that Jon chose to be Snow, not a Stark, not a Targ, but Snow. He was happy with Freefolk, they are simple and honest like him, and in the real North he can truly be free. He said it once 'let the Starks rule the North, I am the North - Snow'. Free King :)

Interesting... But there is one thing that's bothering me: I think it was one of the videos of this channel that showed that bloodraven was really not just having good intentions with the world. Maybe i need to rewatch that video, but i am not sure that bloodraven is a good person to rule over millions of people (despite knowing so much).
I think Bran would have to live in symbiosis with a tree to gain the longevity.
The only reason that the former Three Eyed Raven lived so long was because he was merged with the roots of the ancient weirwood tree. As Bran is nor merged he should have a normal lifespan.
Robert, I just want to really thank you! I am a moderator for 2 pretty popular channels, and all I've heard from them both (as they often do livestreams together), is outrage and negativity. I understand season 8 was shorter and , but you have been nothing but fair. And I did enjoy most it, some parts I didn't. But I am so grateful for you and your channel. You have been fair. D&D, although not my favourite writers, didn't have anything left from GRRM. And I feel they may not have read any or most of the lore, but I may be wrong. I think you hit all of the points of Jon and Dany, of Bran, Sansa, Jaime, Cersei, Jorah Mormont and Brienne. You have made me feel so much better about the ending, and I applaude you! You were and are BRILLIANT! Thank you! 🌹
My take of the vision in The House of The Undying - what does she see? She sees the iron throne and the throne room (as it is in s8) then her next stop in the vision is her deceased husband and son (which is her next stop after acquiring the throne via Jon)
I think it was foreshadowing from the start that Danny was going to die after she conquered the throne.

This was conceived as a story of TEMPERANCE, the right amount of hot and cold makes iron or glass endure everything, to become stronger, unbreakable, but rigid and less flexible.
We appreciate your hard work on making some sense of this. Unfortunately, sometimes there are impossible quests.
Drogon flew off with Daenerys' body to leave the door open for a possible return for the both of them in a possible sequel in perhaps 20 years time.
This is a fictitious world where resurrections are a thing after all, and where Daenerys still has followers who possess this ability.
Not saying it will happen, nor that it's likely to happen - just that it isn't *impossible* to happen.
MinscS2 at best, she like Jon, might have an existential revelation that her life’s purpose was meaningless in the face of the black void of death and finally feel the oppressive guilt of her actions. Probably give up on ruling for a humble life and accept she wasn’t meant to rule. Being an emotionally dead person with maybe a child with a man in wherever they land in. Never to be a ruler, but making sure the family at least lives- the dragons hiding for the sake of survival.
But.....that’s being realistic. The show runners would have her be “I’ll plot my revenge mwhahaha.” And the Starks have to kill her again and likely Drogo as well along with any forces that she convinced to come with her.
@MinscS2 Exactly what i thought too. I am not sure whether i would like it, but it is really really possible.
Bollocks mate
Love your vids ! Instead of going nuts and trashing the episode or season , you do indeed offer an insightful and intelligent synopsis. Although I may not agree with the way things have gone (especially this season) you make it easier to understand the entire thing. Well done and thank you !!!
Is this a copy pasta?
I think, we all disagree with some things in season 8. Overall, the final episode does make sense though as most characters ended where they probably belong. Dany's fate was basically clear since season 2 (the vision she had in the House of the Undying). Arya not becoming a "Lady" and doing something crazy or adventurous was also pretty much foreseeable. I would have seen her in the east as an servant to the Many-faced God, but going west on an exploration mission is also a cool idea.
Jon being the anti-hero ending up in the north, where he really wants to be makes sense as well, even though he could be the greatest winner, now sitting on the throne - if he had the desire for it, which he clearly does not. Same for Sansa. She evolved from an innocent girl who had no other job than looking good into a real serious ruler. She is a believable Queen of the North.
Even Bran makes sense. He stands for a new era in Westeros, a King that was elected instead of being born from an incestuous relationship. With all the big and power hungry houses gone, he might even have a chance to rule for a while.
My biggest complaint about the endgame (season 7 and 8) is still about the pace. It was rushed. GRRMs way of storytelling doesn't allow to be rushed. It needs time, details and explanations to understand the motivations and decisions of the characters. That's the biggest problem of the last 2 seasons. It went way too fast.
@@SilverCircle71 Sorry guys, cut it anyway you want, the last season was utter unmitigated Horse BLEEP. Robert's analysis is much, much better than the writers deserve or earned. To say they rushed Season 8 is the biggest understatement of all. Nothing, and mean Nothing that made the show great over the first 6 (maybe part of 7 as well) was evident in season 8 with the possible exception of episode 8/1. Stop and think for a moment about the analogy the writers were suggesting: Danerys goes psycho and uses her Weapon of Mass Destruction (Drogon) to commit genocide. Her victory speech shows her complete transformation to the Dark Side; She knows what's best for the World, she will purge it of all who don't see the true order of things (good ole Adolph; or maybe Osama?). Forget for now this utter 180 degree shift occurs in essentially two prior episodes with no real defined build up to this (even uncle Adolph had a complex prior history to get him to the level of a monster); She makes Grey Worm into her top military head. Grey Worm is analogous to Heinrich Himmler, with the Unsullied and Dothraki her SS and Panzer Corps; but a least we can somewhat fathom his motives. He is now a vicious zealot who will not only do her bidding but interpret her intent to all of her enemies before she even orders him (slitting the prisoners throats). He also happens now to be in charge of the most powerful Army on earth.
Fine, Tyrion whom we suspected would pay for letting Jamie go, gets arrested for treason. We all saw this coming. However, given Dany's newly found ruthlessness whom would she see as her biggest immediate threat? John Snow of course. Logic was pointing the way to an epic confrontation for ultimate control. However, we only had 79 minutes to get this over with, so let's contrive the meeting near the IRON THRONE and Dany's longing plea for John to join her in cleansing the whole world! Yes really, the now ruthless Queen of the 7 Kingdoms is going to have a soft spot for the one person who can legitimately claim the throne over her. Of course, we need to get on with it so Tah dah! Knife in the Heart! Goodbye Emilia, terrific actress, but we can't pay you anymore.
Now, at least we think DROGON mayl take Vengeance he is a beast after all. John will die in Dragon Fire the ultimate sacrifice to save the World! Sansa and Ariya will take up the mantle! Nope! Instead he has an epiphany of sorts and in an extraordinary bit of prescience worthy of Tyrion himself, sees the IRON THRONE as the true symbol of all evil. Of course absolutely nothing hinted that the Dragons had this kind of insight, but we simply can't kill off John now can we?
Now, in the ultimate bit of logical inconsistency, when all things are pointing to Grey Worm to snap; we get the "so called" climactic confrontation as he confronts the "panel" (how they got there so quickly is another matter). He holds a still powerful Army in his command, and he has already demonstrated ruthlessness; so what happens? Tah dah! He will agree to abide by a leader chosen by the panel! What utter HORSE Cookies!
From there tings just get worse. The feeble attempts at ironic humor fail miserably IMHO. The real kicker for me though is what all of this portends for the future ( I mean the entertainment future for all of the shows fans): My guess is that this abrupt truncated season is leading up to two possibilities both of which will make a lot of real people rich.
1) We will have a sequel series in the future (GOT II: Bran the Broken?) probably unlikely.
2)The much more likely (if I were betting on it I would place a big bet) scenario is (wait for it) GOT II The MOVIE!
In either case, I'm not watching> Yes a truly great series was in the space of one truncated ill- executed season has become a major disappointment.
Yea. this was just poor storytelling, in my opinion. Too many "foreshadows" and not enough growth near the end of the show. also a lot of the decisions of the characters do not make much sense at all. The show deserves a better ending for sure. it was a 4 out of 10 at best.
@@ricomis7055 I still think Dany going mad is plausible. Such things happen in the real world as well. People snap and do vile things. It can happen and it would only haven been implausible if it came out of nowhere. But that's not the case. The signs were there, ever since season TWO. Lots of fan theories and speculations in the last couple of years were talking about Dany's latent issues with burning stuff and her general obsession about fire, particularly about herself being fireproof. All these hints were clearly pointing to a Dany who will - at some point - snap and go berserk. It's actually the one single thing in season 8, that makes total sense and has been satisfying - and no, I'm not one of the Dany-haters who cheered for her death - while she wasn't my favorite character, I was mostly on good grounds with her ever since season 1 (and I find her even more likeable in the books).
So, Dany's plot arc is the best thing in season 8, much better than the Night King which was unsatisfying and could haven been so much better with more time. That's why I complain about things being rushed. The NK's plot arc could have filled at least half a season on its own
As for Drogon: He is not just a beast. In most fantasy works, Dragons are depicted as at least partially intelligent creatures with motivations and goals. They also are able to show affection and emotions, like Drogon did in episode 3 when he comforted Dany who was totally devastated after Jorah's passing.
Grey Worm's motivation was clearly hate for all Lannister and Cersei related. He was always depicted as a reasonable guy whose main trait was total loyalty to Dany. Such loyalty can turn into a problem when the person to whom you devoted everything, turns mad. But since Grey Worm's behavior was caused by emotions and NOT madness, he was able to control it in the end.
I do agree with your view that it would haven been better had Drogon burned Jon together with the Iron Throne. That would have been a badass dragon moment, confirming that dragons are indeed intelligent and able to understand human behavior, and a better ending for Jon's character arc. I can live with him being in the north again, but it's boring and uninspired with better options.
And now our watch is ended!
Indeed...😓
And now our watch is ended. So sad
I struggled a lot with this finale, as most people did. I was troubled by the fact that I felt very little at the end of it, almost numb and that was the last thing I wanted to feel since this was my favorite series, probably ever . But you, sir, have single-handedly made this finale better just in your presentation of it. The way you speak is so gripping, and moving and I enjoy it so much. It was a step and the beginning of democracy. I really loved the ending😍 I feel like Highgarden will branch into the cbd market under the new leadership lol
HIGHgarden indeed.
And gay too.
I agree that the Lannisters lost what was most important to their self-identity, but in the case of Jaime it was his honor (or so people said), and Cersei lost her children. These two things were much more important than fighting ability and beauty.
And Tyrion lost his wit way before this season.

I actually think that Jon’s final realization was when Dany told him that he always knew what was good. In this moment he realizes finally what he already knew deep in his heart... that he needs to do what is necessary and good for the realm of men.
I still feel that the character arcs we have been invested in for the past 7 years were completely abandoned in season 8. Feels like betrayal. Placing Bran on the throne instead of the man that fought, bled, died, exemplify excellent leadership and united the realm leaves me speechless.
The way Jon was sided away is utterly painful. I'll never forgive D&D for making him pointless in the long night, but making him a Queen Slayer to be locked up, condemned and basically deported, is straight outrageous.
Don't read the books then you won't like it. I don't think you get GRRM. It's going to end in very similar fashion.
Jon doesn't want to rule. He fights for the side of the living, doing what's right and pays for it, dearly, every time. He's freakin' tired, let him retire to the Norf with Ghost, dammit.
@Thomandy Jon would have been a terrible King. He's impulsive and a bit of a shallow thinker. He allows events to control him. Jon is a warrior and a charismatic leader, but his decision making is flawed.
Jon's story is a parallel to that of Jesus. Keeping with that archetype he doesn't stick around and rule once his mission is completed, he ascends to heaven, the land of the gods (far north is the land of the old gods). His story is one of the few that wasn't abandoned and followed through his archetype to the end.
